Alex arrived at the park, where the customer had asked. He saw a familiar shade of black hair and fair skin waiting for him under a tree.
'You calling me here means we have a lead on Dr. Watson.'
'More than that, I ran a full inspection on him.'
Jason told Alex about the information he had gained as they walked.
'Dr. James Watson; a brilliant European scientist who made quite a name in the field of bio-engineering. He was a young and admirable scientist who died at the age of 26 years old, 3 years ago.'
'Making it a good excuse for being in Jira.'
Alex wondered why these types of organizations have people who have framed their death. Is it some kind of requirement, or they just because it sounds cool?
'He was unmarried. It was often said that he never planned to marry as he was too much in love with his work. He died in a car accident or so it says, after that there is no reliable information regarding him.'
'Who would have thought we would be fighting dead people?'
'He is not dead yet.'
'So, where are we going?'
They had exited the park and walked the main road.
'To his apartment. I have managed to locate it. It took me longer than I expected. He is craftier than I thought.'
'We saw that first hand at the zoo.'
'Precisely, we have to be alert.'
They continued to walk until they reached the eerie part of Kanagawa. The safe and secure streets were not appearing safe anymore. The environment became rougher and rowdier.
The area became crowded. They continued to walk until the houses and apartments came. From there, they arrived at a beaten-down old building near a construction site.
'His apartment is in this building. We both will take different routes to it in case of traps. I have recorded his daily routine. He is out at the moment.'
'Okay, let's go.'
Jason quickly went to the backside of the building without making a sound.
'Wait, you didn't tell me his apartment num…ber.'
Alex tried to call out, but he was already gone.
'Fine, I'll just find his apartment myself.'
Jason skillfully ran up the wall, climbed up a pipe, and jumped to a staircase, carefully checking before taking his next step. He started climbing up by the edge of the other apartments' windows and then crept into Dr. Watson's apartment from the kitchen's window.
He quietly entered the apartment. Although the interior was rough, it was unexpectedly clean and organized. The time it took Jason to find Dr. Watson's apartment was well spent as the apartment was full of evidence.
There were beakers, test tubes, and many types of machinery all over the room, each labeled with names Jason had never heard of.
He started taking pictures and after carefully checking for traps. There was a laptop on a table along with some papers. Jason went to check the contents of the computer. He was about to start when the bell rang.
--He never invited any visitors. Is it someone from Jira, but who?
Jason silently walked to the door, taking out a syringe that could knock anyone unconscious in 10 seconds. He got to the side of the door, needle in hand. The bell rang for the second time.
Jason quickly pushed opened the door and was about to stab whoever was at the door with the syringe that it took all of his strength to stop and was about to fall down when he saw the person.
'Hi Jason, I see you already let yourself in.'
Jason stood furiously to see Alex at the door, then seized and pulled him in.
'Whoa!'
He forcefully closed the door.
'Could you try to be a little more serious? And where were you?'
'You forgot to tell me the address, dumbass, so I had to find it myself. I asked the landlady. She was very nice. She even gave me these two sodas when I told her I came with a friend.'
Jason just stood there as he heard Alex's unbelievable story, but the two soda cans proved that it might have really happened.
'Okay, I admit it might be partially my fault.'
Jason gave a half-ass apology, which Alex didn't buy.
'No, it was all your fault.'
'Might be partially my fault.'
Jason repeated his sentence louder and more emphatically.
'Okay, fine. So, what do we have here?'
'Valuable evidence. This investigation is starting to bear good fruit.'
Jason resumed his investigation with caution and expected Alex to do the same.
'What does this stuff do?'
Alex picked up a test tube filled with a chemical.
'Alexander, put that down. We cannot touch anything without caution. Where are your gloves?'
Jason whisper-shouted.
'Come on, it's alright.'
Alex began to play with chemicals. Tossing them in the air to juggle.
'Stop that, Alexander.'
'Call me Alex, and I'll think about it.'
Jason couldn't comprehend Alex's bizarre condition but gave in.
'Okay, Alex. Stop it.'
'Here, Jason. Catch.'
'Alexander!'
He threw six tubes at Jason all at once to see what he would do.
Jason barely caught all of the tubes with his hands, arms, and legs.
--The reports said that the procedure would significantly increase the patient's IQ. But now I highly doubt that.
'Amazing, you caught all of them.'
Alex was impressed by Jason's dexterous movements. Jason quietly reached into his jacket's pocket to secretly retrieve the syringe. He was having second thoughts of needing Alex in this mission.
Alex suddenly sensed something.
'Jason, be prepared. Someone's coming, make that some people are coming.'
