Several days had passed after that incident. Things were back to normal, whatever that is. Jason kept searching for Watson, and eventually, the Japanese WS branch tipped him.
Alex was in the middle of school when he was called to the principal's office. He arrived there.
'You wanted to see me, sir.'
'Ah yes, it seems you have been granted leave from school, so you are free to go.'
'Leave?'
Typically, leaves are only granted by the request of the child's parent or guardian. Alex knew his father was not in Japan. He grabbed his stuff, and as he went out, saw Jason at the exit door.
'How did you get me out of school? Only Parents are allowed to do that.'
'You are forgetting that WS's influence is not something to be taken lightly, and WS agents can do almost anything. Getting someone out of school is child's play.'
'Since you got me out, I suppose it isn't so we can hang out.'
'I might have found your Dr. Watson.'
'Took you long enough.'
They went to Alex's house. There, Jason started explaining.
'A small island had been bought a few months ago, and is undergoing construction.'
'So how is that linked to Dr. Watson and Jira?'
'The island was bought by a billionaire who currently does not show any connection to Jira, yet it was bought immediately after the explosion. Coincidence?'
'In this day and age, what isn't?'
'Perhaps this might change your mind.'
Jason showed Alex some pictures on his phone.
'These are pictures of the construction work, what about it?'
'60 million US dollars have already been put into this project, which excludes buying the island itself. Do these pictures look like 60 million US dollars?'
'You have a point.'
The buildings showed in the picture were too plain for 60 million dollars despite being incomplete.
'So, where did all the money went?'
'Of course, it went to construction, but they are not showing what they made.'
'Which is?'
'A fully operational underground facility. The Japanese WS branch confirmed it on my request.'
'So, we aren't just going with hunches. When do we strike?'
'Tonight.'
Dusk had replaced the day as they prepared. Jason was the one preparing for the mission while Alex watched sitcoms and ate pizza.
'I urge you to be more serious.'
'What am I supposed to do?'
'Perhaps you could go over the plan again. I am certain you had not heeded it the first time.'
'As if things ever go according to plan, every time you tell me your detailed plan, things don't even go 20% according to it'.
Alex had a point, and Jason recognized it. It is, of course, normal that things don't go 100% the way you thought they would, but WS agents are trained to have extreme foresight. The situation has always unfolded at least 60% of how they expected it to no matter the circumstances.
This time it was different. Jason couldn't figure out why and decided not to say anything after that.
They reached the island in the dead of night. They were on the island's fjord with Jason's navigation.
'Why do we have to arrive by rowing?'
Alex complained, oars in hand while the engine behind him was never used.
'This is a stealth mission. We have to maintain absolute silence. The motor might have caused more noise and disturbance than we intended. The only reason we chose a motorboat was in the scenario we have to escape quickly and are unable to row it.'
Jason's caution was well thought, and because of it, they had surpassed the motion sensors which surveyed the water near the island by going slowly in the rowing boat. Meanwhile, a seagull arose from its nest and took flight.
The seagull gently flew over the water in search of prey. Its eyes caught two people gently and slowing nearing the island in a small boat. The seagull's eyes flashed red after spotting its prey and swiftly returned to its nest.
When it arrived, an antenna appeared from its head. Alex and Jason arrived at the island's cove and tied the boat there. They crept up the rocks onto the island.
The seagull transmitted the footage to the monitors underground along with the message "Intruder Alert!" which was viewed by an overjoyed man.
'Thank Goodness you arrived or else I was starting to get tedious.'
He pressed a button to open the mike.
'We have guests. Send him in to greet them'.
Jason and Alex discreetly made their way to one of the finished buildings, observing their surroundings. The area was empty and quiet since all the construction workers were sleeping. They silently infiltrated one of the buildings.
'What are the chances of having secret cameras here?'
'A 100%. This is Jira we are dealing with. However, even if hidden cameras monitor us, that does not mean we are being watched.'
They walked in and searched for passages that might lead to the underground facility but couldn't find any.
'Did you find anything on your side, Jason?'
'No. Perhaps this building does not lead to the facility, we should check others.'
'Nope, it does.'
Alex's tone changed, and he took a defensive position.
'What is wrong'?
'Somethings coming, and it's something big.'
Jason couldn't hear a noise but experienced the vibration of the ground.
