Chapter 26 - to be the first one

Hikaru was on the verge of losing it. Rather, he already had.

'That's not good.'

Alex started unbuttoning his shirt.

'Alex wh-what are you doing?

His shirt had hidden his athletic body and sharp muscle. Taking it off, the sight of those detailed curves made Asuna beet red. His muscles had become a lot detailed after the procedure without him exercising much.

'Here, take my shirt and change it with yours. It might be a little tight, but this is all I got. You can go behind the corner.'

Asuna blankly stared at the shirt.

'What will you wear?'

'Obviously, your shirt. Don't worry, I'll ask the nurse's office to see if they got a spare shirt, and you might want to hurry.'

'Why?'

Alex covered his eyes and pointed towards Asuna's chest.

'I can…kind of see your cleavage.'

'Huh?'

Asuna looked at herself and finally grasped what kind of situation she was in. Instantly, she snatched Alex's shirt and sprinted to the corner.

Meanwhile, Hikaru's soul was somewhere in the astral plane.

Alex will wear a shirt that is soaked in miso soup. Hikaru won the battle in that sense, but it will be Asuna's shirt, and Asuna will be wearing Alex's, and he spilled it on Asuna. In the end, he lost the war in the worst possible way.

The two were left alone. Alex's resumed his meal.

'I know what you are trying to do.'

Hikaru had returned from his trip from the astral field.

'Eat my lunch?'

'Let me tell you one thing, you can't win over Asuna like this.'

Alex stopped eating his lunch.

'Win over?'

Alex paused to see Hikaru smugly smiling.

'That's right. She only likes the smartest people, so you had no chance to begin with because you can't beat me.'

'I see, okay.'

He started eating his lunch again. Hikaru was left hanging in the expectation of a challenge, seeing no response, he asked.

'Eh…aren't you going to challenge me?'

Alex turned his head.

'No.'

'Challenge me.'

'No.'

The conversation was the same as seeing a toddler whine.

'Fine, I challenge you then.'

'I refuse.'

Alex was starting to get annoyed by the toddler.

'Why?'

'I don't want to.'

'Challenge me, please.'

Hikaru started begging.

'Let's have a competition, loser does whatever the winner says.'

'No.'

Alex finished eating his lunch unfulfilled and vexed. He knew he can't stop Hikaru from bugging him. Already seeing his many future lunches being rudely interrupted by him, the fastest way to solve this was to do what he wanted.

Asuna came back from changing into Alex's shirt.

'Asuna, you sure took a while. Was my shirt too tight?'

'Um….no, it's very comfortable. Thank you for lending me your shirt. I promise to give it back fully washed.'

Asuna took a good 5 minutes to change into a single shirt. Setting aside the stigma that girls always take time to get ready, she couldn't just tell Alex what she was doing.

--Alex's shirt!

This was the inner voice of a girl who had went behind a corner to change into a piece of clothing. She gazed upon the item as a gift bestowed by the holy deities. She looked around to see if anyone watched her and finally gave in to her inner desires and committed a heinous act. Heinous according to her.

She held it to her face and took a deep, slow breath. It was a mesmerizing aroma to her. The chemical reaction happening in her cannot be explained.

'Asuna, I've decided to give the promotion exam again, thanks to Hikaru. He motivated me to do it.'

Alex smiled and looked at Hikaru, who was stumped. Asuna blinked blankly.

--How long was I gone for?

'That's great, Alex. I'm sure you can do it.'

Alex had already asked the principal to give the promotion exam again for the next class if he wanted to. Though he never planned to actually take it, it looks like it came in handy.

After school was over, he went to the principal's office.

'Alexander, how are you? How was your 1st day as a 2nd year.'

'I want to give to give the promotion exam again.'

'What?'

'Let's have the exam taken next week. I'll come on Monday to take it, until then, bye.'

'Wait…'

Alex had left.

The week flew by, and Alex passed the exam with perfect scores and became a 3rd year. He was put in the same class Hikaru was in, and Alex sat right next to him.

'Now we really can have the competition of who's the smartest.'

Hikaru thought he had gone against some higher power but was ready.

'I hope you don't disappoint me.'

It was the declaration of war.

*In case you degenerates were wondering, the bra's color was purple.*
