Alex jumped on a nearby dumpster and kicked the wall, propelling himself further to catch the balcony above him. He climbed up the gallery to get to the rooftop, and Jason reluctantly followed.
Alex began running like a free runner, jumping from buildings to buildings and rooftops.
His body constantly adapted to his movements. He stumbled at first, not used to this new activity but continued getting better to the point of having it engraved in his muscle memory in a matter of minutes.
He peeped back for a moment to see if Jason was behind him. He gazed around, and his pursuer was nowhere to be found. He looked down to see if he was on the ground, still nothing.
'Maybe I lost him?'
'Did you?'
Alex turned around, and Jason was right in front of him, less than a meter away.
--How did he?
'Give up?'
Alex grinned, seeing it would be too boring if it was this easy.
'Not yet.'
Alex jumped off the building doing a backflip. Jason sighed.
'I should have rendered him immobile when I had the chance.'
He looked down to see where Alex was, and there was no sign of him.
--Where did he go?
After carefully checking if there was any sign of him, he backed up and began scouting on to the next building.
After a few moments, making sure Jason was gone, Alex quietly emerged and crept on top of the building.
He did a backflip to leap to the building behind him, catching a pipe. He caught hold of it and then jumped through an open window into an apartment. The whole maneuver took no more than 2 seconds.
Alex had developed bizarre habits after the treatment. He noticed that he never felt any tiredness, feeling wholly energized after a 3-hour sleeping period.
After his incident with Prof. Hibiki, he began studying books to test his memory and could recall them effortlessly after a single read. He started watching videos and reading books in his free time to see how far he can go.
His brain wasn't the only thing that got an upgrade. Through bothersome instances, he had to admit he was stronger than before.
'Alex, hold back, will you?
'Sorry.'
Hitting the tennis ball so hard that it got stuck in the steel fence was one. That gave him and his opponent quite a scare. That was just the beginning. After a few more incidents like accidentally bending the spoon he was eating with, crushing an apple with his bare hands, destroying the TV remote while pressing the button, pulling the doorknob out of the door, etc. He accepted this fact and needed to control his strength.
In the middle of monitoring his power, curiosity got the best of him, and he wanted to find out how stalwart was he. He began conducting all sorts of tests on himself. No matter what he did, the result was the same.
At first, it would hurt a lot, but his body quickly adapted to it after sufficient time. He tried lifting a hundred pounds above his head with one hand. It was a bad idea. He was met with gruesome pain and writhed in agony, though he did succeed.
He also had incredible agility, speed, balance, and photographic muscle memory. He began watching parkour and acrobatics videos and could copy all the stunts after seeing it once with a few aching failures.
As money wasn't a problem for Alex, he built an indoor parkour court, and after going through it once, he could go through it again while blindfolded.
These were the odd behavior his body had been doing. Right now, he can jump 3 feet high with 50 pounds of sandbags on both sides each.
As Alex quietly and skillfully climbed back. He saw what looked like a fading white light, slowly moving, 3 buildings away. Jason was searching there, or so he thought.
'Definitely, lost him this time.'
'Are you sure?'
Again, Jason was there. Sitting casually on top of a chimney as if he was waiting for him to come out.
'How did you know I was here?'
'You used the oldest trick in the book and expected me to be fooled by it?'
On the building where the light was coming was a torch tied with Jason's rope to lure his prey out. He leisurely got up and walked towards Alex.
'I can't run away, can I?'
Alex examined his surroundings to find a suitable position.
'Glad to know you are a quick learner.'
It was dark, and the light of the streetlamps didn't reach there. The best source of illumination was the moon behind Jason. Alex smiled boldly.
'But fighting is another case.'
