After some times passed, I begin to wonder why he hadn't started moving yet. I get up, and walk towards Gon. He seems to be wondering why he hasn't moved too.
Esther: "Hey Killua, is it just me. But that blue guy seems to be looking more dead."
Killua: "Looks like it. Let's ask Leorio."
We call Leorio over. He says it's impossible to see from here.
Leorio: "Hey! We wanna go over there and check his body! He might be dead already, we just wanna see for ourselves."
"Like I said before, he's just unconscious."
Leorio: "How long do you think we've been here?! You think we're just going to take your word for it?!"
"Care to make a wager then? On whether he's dead or alive."
Leorio: "What are the stakes, what are you proposing?"
"Time. We will settle our match through gambling. Using time, instead of chips. Look at the monitor on the wall. We'll each have 50 hours which to wager. Bets can only be placed in 10 hour increments. We bet, until one of our clocks reaches 0. We'll take turns deciding what to bet on. If your clock reaches 0, you will have 50 less hours to reach the bottom."
Leorio: "What if you hit 0 first?"
"50 years will be added to our sentences. If you accept these terms, I will confirm whether he's alive or dead."
Leorio: "that women is crazy. Betting with her own jail time like that.
Kurapika: "Consider your answer carefully. If you lose, we'll all have 50 fewer hours to clear the tower."
Leorio: "Yeah, well no-one asked you. Incase you forgot, you're the one that got us in this mess in the first place."
Kurapika: "Very well, you won't hear another word from me."
Esther: "Mom, dad, please stop fighting."
K and L: "You shut up!"
Gon: "Stop, we shouldn't be fighting among each other."
Leorio: "Alright! I accept your damn challenge!"
"Ok. I chose our first bet so you may set the betting. Decide how many hours we'll wager on him being alive or dead."
Leorio: "I bet 10 hours he's alive."
"Alright then, let's confirm."
They walk up onto the arena. Leorio checks his pulse.
"See? He's only unconscious."
Leorio: "So it seems."
We gain 10 hours.
Gon: "Yes! Leorio has taken an early lead!"
Killua: "This is bad. Maybe he won't wake up no matter how long we wait."
Kurapika: "I don't understand. "
Esther: "He's saying that there is a possibility that he's faking being unconscious. If their aim is to waste our time, then him being alive is more important to his teammates then being dead. We're at a stalemate. Now what?"
Gon: "So if he doesn't wake up at all, then that means we-"
Killua: "That's my point."
Kurapika: "I see, that has been their intention all along."
We look at Leorio, hopefully he won't do something stupid.
"Ok, it's your turn to bet."
Leorio: "Let me see…I say we bet on whether or not he's actually unconscious."
Is it just me, but I'm sure I can see the blue guy sweating…
"Alright, I'll bet 20 hours that he really is out cold. The question is, how will you go about confirming this?"
Leorio picks up the blue guy. He slowly walks towards the ledge. Well will you look at that… he hangs him between on and off the ledge. A small push would be enough to make him fall.
Leorio: "If he really is unconscious, he'll fall to his death and that will be the end of it."
"Are you insane? His match hasn't been decided yet. There's no way I can accept those terms."
Leorio: "Don't worry. If he falls and kicks the bucket, we'll forfeit the match. Giving you a win. That work for you?"
"Very well then. In that case, I'm changing my bet. I bet 40 hours that he isn't unconscious after all. That's everything I have left."
