Leorio: " I know what we're betting on. Let's bet on who will win rock paper scissors."
"Why not."
Kurapika: "Is he serious?"
Esther: "Our hours are going to be wasted. There are too many variables. Leorio doesn't seem mentally strong enough to not get fooled. This is going to be bad…"
Gon: "What do you mean?"
"Alright then, for my wager. I got 80 hours that say I will win."
Leorio: "huh?! Did you just say 80?!"
"That's not a problem is it? I'm free to bet however much I want."
Leorio: "ok then…"
"Perfect, and if you lose. I can only take 10 hours since that's all you have left. So don't worry."
Worrying, right here!
Kurapika: "While the rules about rock paper scissors is simple, the game itself can be incredibly complex. From the perspective of probability, you'll only stand a 1 in 3 chance of losing any given round. But, if your opponent can predict your reasoning and control your reaction, your chance of losing increases dramatically."
Killua: "In short, this is a game in wits. Leorio is pretty lacking in that department."
Gon: "I see…"
Leorio: "ok, I'm ready!"
She walks up, and chuckles. And now, the mind games have begun.
Leorio: "Hey, what's so funny?"
"It's just that I can already tell what you're going to use. I'm something of a mind reader you see."
Leorio: "That is a lie! You can bluff all you want but it will take a lot more than that to scare me!"
"You'll believe it soon."
Kurapika: "Leorio will use rock."
Gon: "What?"
"You ready? And rock, paper, scissors!"
Both choose rock.
Gon: "You were right! Good guess Kurapika."
Kurapika: "Leorio was nervous. Leading him to avoid any actions that involved opening up. She's good. She's doing everything she can to make him uncomfortable and less likely to use paper."
Killua: "So, she sticks to rock. Ensuring a win or a draw."
Esther: "Basically, this is a mind game."
Gon: "Now I see."
Leorio: "Hang on. We both used rock so that was a draw right?"
"So what if it was."
Leorio: "Ha! I knew it! You were lying about being able to read my mind. If you were really a psychic then you would've beaten me! Right?"
She laughs. That's not a good sign.
Leorio: "What are you laughing at?"
"I gave you that tie on purpose. You're welcome."
Leorio: "Quite lying!"
"Have you forgotten already? We're trying to stall you here for as long as possible. If I really wanted to, I could force a series of draws that would last indefinitely. But why? I'm sure it wouldn't be half as fun as toying with you. But I'll end it after this. Well, what will you use next? Come on, think hard."
Leorio really looks like he's having difficulty in choosing to believe if she's lying or not.
Kurapika: "Worrying, fretting. Whenever someone's confidence is shattered they begin to crave reassurance. See? That's obviously what's happening to Leorio. He'll use the same play or something stronger to regain his conference."
Killua: "I see what she's doing, she's trying to get Leorio to choose either rock, or paper."
Gon: "Leorio!"
Gon shouts to Leorio.
Gon: " Listen, if you wanna win you gotta play scissors!"
Leorio: "Scissors, what?"
"Go ahead, try.
I can see him beginning to panic even more. He's overthinking things too hard.
"Here we go. Here comes the draw!"
Leorio chooses rock, she chooses paper. We lost. There goes 50 hours of our time.
"Haha! I win, yay!"
