"What were you thinking?"
I almost yelled at him as soon as I got to the front row. The class had just ended and I was on my way out just like others when my eyes landed on him. He was still sitting in the same spot with a relaxed look on his face.
"And you don't look like you want to leave the class." I added as I eyed him up and down. My tone was much softer than before.
"I do. I was just waiting for you." His response took me by surprise. My mind wasn't prepared for such a reply.
I moved my eyes around to see that most of the class was already empty. There were only a few other students along with us.
"Shall we go now?" I asked him to get a nod in response instantly.
"And were you referring to my note earlier?" He questioned me as he made his way around the first row. His steps came to a halt next to me while he looked at me expectantly
"Yes! I was referring to your magical note." I answered him in a hushed tone. I didn't want people to get any chance of calling me a maniac when they themselves were one.
"Are you hungry?" He changed the topic to something else and earned a glare from me in return. One of things which I hated the most was not getting an answer. And he was doing the same.
"Yes, I could do with some food." I spoke up thinking that he might give me a response after getting an answer to his question. But who knew that it wouldn't be the case.
"Let's go then. We still have some time before the next class. It will be enough for us to grab a bite or two." He gave me a bright smile before making his way to the entrance of the room.
Given no other choice, I followed him out with a helpless look on my face. He sure had a habit of acting weird at times.
"As for the note, why are you getting so worried about it?" He finally spoke up about the matter at hand as I caught up to his pace. "Isn't it just a note?"
"It was a damn 'magical' note." I hissed through my teeth, stressing on the word 'magical'. But I also made sure that my voice was low enough for only the two of us to hear.
"It was a harmless trick. Nobody would have noticed it anyway." He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly which only added to my ire.
"Look, man!" I exclaimed as I grabbed his elbow and pulled him to a stop. I took a step closer to him and stared straight into his eyes before continuing with my words.
"Just like we are trying to fit in here, there are others too. Though they are just humans, they aren't as simple as the rest of them. And you know that both of us will be in trouble along with that girlfriend of yours if one of those people get a whiff of us studying here." I gritted through my teeth.
It wasn't until the class was close to ending that I realized the trouble which would befall upon us if a hunter caught us doing magic on campus. I could care any less about his ex-girlfriend, but I cared about the two of us. I felt like ripping his head off his body, or smack it against a wall.
What irked me more was the way he was still taking the matter lightly. He looked down at me with an amused smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"It's alright, little foxy." He patted the top of my crown as if I was a child who was throwing a tantrum around. The only thing which I felt like throwing around was his being.
"Me and Dana have been studying here for the last four years. If there was someone like that, we would have known it by now. So chillax, will you?" He continued as he stared down at me.
"But I refuse to take any risks, so you can 'chillax'." I refuted. He was starting to get on my nerves. Why was it so hard for him to get such a simple fact? He sure had a thick skull.
Sliding a hand into my jeans' pocket, I took out a piece of crumpled paper and shoved it into his palm. "You can keep this too." Stomping my foot on the ground, I was about to walk away but the man refused to let me.
He tugged at my elbow with all of his force. His unrestrained movements only resulted in me landing on him. "Where do you think you are going? You gave me your word that you'll accompany me to the cafeteria. You cannot take it back." He narrowed his eyes at me and gave me a stern look
"And if it makes you feel any better, I'll behave. How's that, little foxy?" He added as his expressions softened a little.
"Okay. Let's go and grab a bite." I mumbled softly as I fought the urge to roll my eyes. "And stop doing this." I added as my eyes trailed down to his chest. What was with him and pulling me close since the morning?
"I know you enjoy it secretly. You just don't want to accept it." He wiggled his eyebrows a little as he stared down at me. The lop-sided grin on his face was enough to give away his thoughts. He was definitely enjoying my plight.
"Keep believing that." I knew that my reply only gave his ego a blast, but it did its job as he let go of my arm.
"Let me get your bag." He muttered under his breath. Before my mind could register his words, he grabbed the straps of my bag and slid it off my shoulders. Shoving the crumpled note in his pocket, he continued on to head towards the on-campus cafeteria.
I blinked my eyes a couple of times as I stared at his back. My eyes trailed to my bag which was now dangling by his side as he held it up, and I couldn't stop my lips from curling up slightly. Shaking my head in helplessness, I started to follow his steps.
