Ashlyn entered the audition room and she looked around. There were quite a few number of people. She sighed thinking about how long it would take.
"Stay here I'll go get your number and audition room. You might see a lot of people but it will be faster than you expect. That's how harsh the competition is. One mistake and your out the door." Li Zi told her and Ashlyn nodded. She took a seat and closed her eyes. She used the time to calm herself down. She could not mess this up no matter what.
She opened her eyes slowly when she felt someone tap her in the shoulder. She turned around and was brought into a hug. "I'm here." She heard Cameron and she chuckled. "Sit down and don't make too much noise," Ashlyn told her and patted the empty seat next to her.
Although a few people were chatting the place was mostly silent. Everyone was mostly getting themselves mentally prepared and practicing or just sitting in their seats imagining how their audition will go like.
The competition would be tough and it would be quite tense. Even Ashlyn who's confident in her skills still figured how competitive the auditions are. You could audition for one thing and be given another role instead. If you don't like it then you can leave there is no need for you. That's just how strict the auditions went when done by certain directors and producers. It always depends on the investors and the value of the script.
The auditions were always different and no one knows what to expect.
The whole point was to get rid of all the actors that can't be professional, have patience, and be able to rock any role that is given to them.
"Did you just arrive?" Ashlyn asked and Cameron nodded. "I dropped off my things at the hotel and came straight here." She answered. "You are so dedicated." Ashlyn smiled and leaned her head on her shoulder. "Of course. Aren't I the best best best friend of all?" Cameron asked and Ashlyn chuckled. "Yup! And the craziest too." Ashlyn countered.
"We will be in another room to set up the things that will be needed. There are even props." Lake and Luke came forward and greeted Cameron. "They are invested in this," Ashlyn mumbled.
"They are. They also don't care about who you are. Your dear 'sister' was trying to be the first batch in but they rejected her." Li Zi appeared with a number and paper with her. Ashlyn raised an eyebrow at that and looked around to find Sissie. She spotted her taking a seat in the front with a displeased look.
"Here is the group you are going with and the room number. These will change as you advance and people get eliminated. Lake and Luke will be led to a dressing room where they will set up the things for your audition." Li Zi explained.
"They never said that our assistants would be working," Ashlyn said and Li Zi sighed. "Yeah, they took us by surprise. Thank god we brought them for support if not we would be dead." Ashlyn frowned at that and looked around. "What about the people that don't have any assistants?" She asked.
"They would have to figure it out themselves." Li Zi shrugged. "What exactly are you guys working on?" Ashlyn turned her attention to the twins. "Setting up the clothes you will use and props to help you perform. They are all odd though. We have to think about what you will need because you are only allowed to have five." Lake responded.
"And we can't tell you what we choose because it's a rule, the ones with no assistants will get random items," Luke added and Ashlyn frowned. "Chose wisely then I trust you," Ashlyn told them. "Can you do me a favor?" She asked. "Whatever you need." They replied in unison and Ashlyn laughed softly even Cameron chuckled.
"Go around and look for the people that have no assistants to help them. Ask whether they want your help first. You will split into two and choose for them. If they decide to take the risk and trust you then do so but if they don't you can just leave and move on to the next person." Ashlyn told them and they shook their heads.
"If you choose this then we can't help you. It's either we help others or we only help you. They figured someone might be kind enough to share their assistants." Luke responded. Li Zi narrowed her eyes. "They are something else huh?" She scoffed and sat down.
"This is the weirdest audition I have ever done." She mumbled. Cameron gave Ashlyn a questioning look waiting for what she would do next. Ashlyn sighed. They put her in a tough spot. She looked around and pursed her lips.
"I'll take the risk." She replied and they stared at her in shock and admiration. Li Zi opened her eyes wide. "Are you crazy?" She asked slightly upset. "Just do it. I promise I can figure it out." She smiled and the twins nodded. After they left Ashlyn closed her eyes again and leaned on Cameron's shoulder.
Cameron patted her head and hummed a tune. "Ashlyn you can still take your decision back." Li Zi persisted and Ashlyn stayed quiet. A few seconds later she expressed her thoughts.
"I can't. If my mother were here she would accept the challenge and make use of whatever she gets. Even if it's a shewed piece of gun she would make great use of it." Ashlyn told her.
"I guess I was just raised that way. I rather help them out. Aside from that my conscience wouldn't let me. You know that I hold an advantage over them because of the twins. They are clever and I trust that they will provide me the perfect props. It wouldn't be fair." She explained confidently and Cameron smiled with admiration in her eyes.
Li Zi sighed. "Alright. I trust you however we can't always be like this. The competition is tough."
"I know. I won't let anyone take advantage of me of course." Ashlyn answered.
"How are you feeling?" Cameron asked. "Good. I'm calm a bit nervous but I'm good." Ashlyn responded. "No, I mean about the way this audition is playing out to be," Cameron told her.
"They make it super strict and make it all look scary. Many would chicken out and leave. I think that's the point. They want the strongest actors for their movie. They want future stars that can keep themselves together no matter what." Ashlyn told her.
"I see what you mean," Cameron whispered as she looked at the nervous young girls around the room. She spotted one silently exiting the building with tears in her eyes.
"Numbers 1 through 15 please present yourselves to your indicated audition room." The speaker startled everyone except Ashlyn.
"It started." She mumbled.
