After her mask was properly put on Ashlyn returned to her normal position and waited for movements to continue.
She then continued walking. "I will be there." Was what she heard before Alvin disappeared into the busy streets of the city.
Ashlyn sighed and walked around until the right time to meet her so-called father came. She headed to the place they had set up and she sat down.
She ordered a cup of coffee and waited patiently. She really wanted to see what he wanted from her this time. Will he try to convince her to stay away from the show biz?
Is he afraid that she will outshine his step-daughter? It made her angry to think the man cares more about someone who isn't even related to him!
She wondered if he hates her because he thinks her mother's accident was her fault. It didn't matter anyway. He had offended her now and he is nothing close to a father for her. It's time to cut all ties with him once and for all.
Not only that but he also took part in the incident that made Conner lose his memories. And he even threatened her with it!
She will definitely not let this go any longer! She wanted to escape before but it's going too far.
After a long wait, her father appeared in front of her. "What is it that you want?" She asked as soon as she saw him sit down. "That's very clear. You will divorce and go abroad if you don't want me to tell Conner the truth." He told her nonchalantly while he examined her closely. He wanted to see for himself whether his daughter really changed.
"Let's go to a private room. I also have a few things to talk to you about." She gave him a 'sweet' smile. She was surprised that he still wants her to divorce Conner and continue his original plans.
Ashlyn talked to the restaurant manager and they were led into a room for just the both of them. When it was only the two of them alone Ashlyn sighed.
'I'm sorry mother. I just can't continue with this anymore.'
Ashlyn took the coffee cup and she smashed it on the floor. She picked up a piece and she cut her arm not flinching at the pain.
"From here on now. I am no longer your daughter and won't be under your orders. I hold no responsibility to protect you from your pursuers and I am no longer part of the Brown family. We are now complete strangers and owe each other nothing." her words were cold but deep inside it hurt her to do this.
"Heh, Very well then." His face was red in anger but he too took a piece of the shattered glass and made a cut in his arm.
"From here on now, I am no longer your father-"
"Not that you ever acted like one." She interrupted sarcastically.
Mr.Brown gritted his teeth. "I hold no power over you or your blood. We are no longer related to each other in any way and we are both freed from the bond that ties us together." He finished.
As soon as he was done his arm stopped bleeding but the injury was still there. In Ashly's case, her arm went back to normal as if it had never been injured in the first place.
"Mr.Brown your greatest mistake in life was betraying me and my mother when we most needed you. From now on you will be the same pathetic human being you should have always been. I and my mother family no longer have to protect you from the danger you brought yourself. Just remember I am now much stronger than you are." She chuckled when she felt something electric in her body.
It was as if some shackles she had where broken and she could be finally free.
In this world, there are different kinds of people. The 'special' ones that hold abilities no ordinary human being could have and the other are just oblivious humans who know nothing of the other kind.
The 'special' humans had existed for so long but as human technology and knowledge advanced there wasn't much need for their abilities. Over time the population lowered.
Now only a few families across the world have defendants with these special abilities. The Diaz family was one of those and so was the side of Conner's mother's family.
Ashlyn's mother loved her father dearly and even made a bond between him and anyone who has her blood running through their veins.
That included Ashlyn. Since she promised her mother to say by her father's side she had never given up the bond. Now it's too later. She can't be keeping a promise that will hurt her. From now on he isn't her father but an enemy she will defeat.
The academy was established for the new generation of you g adults with those special abilities. They are graded in 10 levels depending on how powerful they are. No one has ever reached level 10. The most powerful ones are in 6-8 but nothing higher.
In Ashlyn's case when she was in the academy she was a 7 but now she doesn't know because she hasn't used her abilities in so long. The guardians are the most powerful people in the academy and their job is to protect other students there.
That is because they are already in a surpirior level. 'Normal' people with these abilities usually rank between 3-5 but only levels 6 and up are admitted into the academy.
Conner himself is a level no one knows of. His level had never been disclosed, probably because of how powerful he is or was because now he doesn't even remember that part of his life.
.....
"Defend your family to the best of your abilities because I Ashlyn Diaz will make sure you are punished for causing my pain." She walked out of the room and slammed the door close.
*****
Mr.Brown flinched when he heard the door slamming close. He sighed and took out his phone to make a call.
"She broke the bond, what do I do know? Only her mother can restore it but we already killed her tsk." He complained.
"Are you an idiot?! Didn't you have her under your control for the past two years? What the hell happened?" The other person yelled angrily.
"What do you want me to do? The b*tch had been pretending all along! She isn't as easy to fool like her mother." Mr.Brown massaged his temple.
"Bring her down from the entertainment industry then. The academy won't approach her so it's fine. We can still get her somehow. Just remember we need her alive to take over the academy. She should know where the location is!" The other person explained.
"Right. Should I still try to get them divorced?" Mr.Brown asked. "Obviously! If he gets his memories back it will be difficult to take over the academy. After all, he was once one of the youngest guardians." The other person said.
After receiving the person's instructions Mr.Brown hung up. "What a pity." He mumbled knowing he wouldn't have Ashlyn under his control.
"Oh well, I never saw her as my daughter anyway. I doubt she even is my daughter." He chuckled and left the room.
Maybe he had not been able to control her again but at least he knew that Ashlyn was back to normal. His new goal was making her career difficult to distract her from him and the other person's plans.
