"Okay, after ten days and ten nights i've finally finished mapping out this island, and in the process secures my self a couple lackeys."
Behind him stood a total of twelve undead, eight zombies and four skeletons. The skeletons were harder to obtain as getting a hundred shambling skeletons to not only follow me but keep a slow enough pace so that they wouldn't give up.
Unlike zombies who were driven by hunger and some other things, skeletons were driven by anger, so i would need to "attack" each one energy few hours to keep their anger towards me, all undead had anger towards the living but skeletons had it more so, they'd easily attack a tree for days just to kill the tree.
During the day time they were all sustained by the blood red mist coating their bodies, they could no longer roam in the daylight after they've absorbed the essence of their fellow skeletons. Skeletons had just enough mana to sustain their bodies which was a small amount so it wouldn't be purged in sunlight, but if i wanted them to grow in strength then they'd need all the undead essence they could get.
Hence for these next couple weeks I'll be focusing on allowing them to collect that essence, during the day we wonder and during the night we hunt undead, this way my map becomes more detailed and they continue to absorb undead essence. Even still we continued to create hordes to gain more lackeys, every couple of days I'd get a new zombie lackey and every week give or take i'd get a new skeleton lackey.
I was sort of pleased at the fact that this island held so much undead, that'd mean that my number lackeys continued to grow as did the information held on my mental map. By the end of the third month all my hard work finally payed off, with the total of 53 lackeys, 36 zombies and 17 skeletons, my very first zombie lackey collected enough undead essence to experience a break through.
A break through for an undead was different from normal break throughs, an undead break through no increased their strength greatly but also increased their rank. Undead were split into ranks, low level, mid-level, high-level, and peak. It was currently experiencing a low-level break through, if its able to survive it then its be a mid-level undead.
'I was never able to have a peak level undead break through, father said that it goes against the very rules of this world but this time...no mater what i will see what occurs after a peak level break through!'
Streams of undead essence started to flow from the surrounding mana into the undead, waves of force would hammer its body all at once refining it's essence and body in the process. My other undead moved away from it too allow it an easier time collecting undead essence while also forming a perimeter, the world didn't like it when undead experiences a break through so it usually sends magical beasts to deal with the undead.
'Guess i could use a break, after months of constantly wondering a nap could do me some good.'
Yawning the man found a tree to rest his back on, and after a couple of minuets he drifted off.

It was currently kneeling on the ground in pain, it couldn't remember how long it's been sense the pain started but it knew that it continued to get worse. It's whole body screamed in pain, an experience it never felt before, every inch of its body felt like it was burning, it's essence was being purged at a fast rate and if this continued then it's collapse like all the undead he killed before.
'I must... beat this!'
It remembered the battle it went through to become its master's minion, it was on the verge of death but it still made it through, and for the past couple months it's life completely changed, it no longer hid from the sun but walked unhindered by the sun rays.
'Master... gave me this life... I must... follow master!'
With one last wave of pressure everything stopped, it didn't know what was happening but it knew one thing.
'I can... continue to serve master!'
