I watched her walk away more worried then ever. That was the first time she had openly mentioned about the anger inside her.
I needed to talk to Raphael perhaps he could help her overcome what fuelled her anger.
I found him assisting selaphiel in the infirmary.
"Raphael how is it going in here?"
"Not good more and more come in the demons are becoming bolder they are working together on a way that has never been seen before."
"If there's anything I can do to help?"
Raphael paused finally turning to face me, reading me like an open book.
"What's wrong Raziel?"
I sighed
"That obvious is it?"
Raphael laughed.
"Your not always so easy to read Phoenix has opened you up its a good change embrace it."
I smiled.
"I'm worried."
Raphael inclined his head.
"Come on lets go for a walk."
I followed him out as we headed towards one of the many balconies surrounding the building.
"What's worrying you?"
"It's Phoenix she has come so far yet something is holding her back. Her heart is still so full of anger, anger that consumes her making it impossible for her to control her fire. I don't know what else to try."
Raphael stopped as he looked out over the clouds before us.
"Many of us go through hard times in our long lives yet Phoenix is still only very young for our kind. She has been thrust into a world she barely knows and been forced through so much pain in what little time she has been in it. To top it all off a great burden has been placed on her shoulders with no regards as to what she wants. If you consider all this she has every right to be angry."
I sighed.
"I know all of this it doesn't change that fact that we are running out of time."
"Raziel have you even asked her why she is angry?"
I was taken back.
"I know why she's angry."
"Are you sure?"
I thought about his words sure she has shown her anger. With Michael, with the prophecy but Raphael was right not once had she actually said why she was angry nor for that matter had I asked.
Raphael smiled to himself as he turned back to me.
"Only when you know the reason behind her anger can you help her overcome it."
I couldn't believe I had never thought to ask her, but Raphael was right I needed to find out why she was so angry.
"Thank you Raphael."
He smiled as he touched my shoulder.
"I'm glad you've found her brother just remember you deserve to be happy too."
I nodded as I watched him walk back to the infirmary.
So all I had to do was get her to reveal the reason behind her anger, but how was I going to do that? What if she didn't even know herself?
There was only one way.
Returning to our room I opened the door to find Kail in the living room with Phoenix.
Instantly they stopped talking to look at me.
"What's going on?"
Phoenix was the first to speak.
"Kail just stopped by to say hi."
I looked from her to him. His face was blank, instantly telling me they were hiding something.
"I should go."
"I think that might be best."
"Raziel!"
I stared Kail down, maybe it was the fact that he was a fallen or maybe it was the fact that he was lucifers son either way I just didn't trust him.
Not turning away Kail said good bye and left closing the door behind him.
"Well that was rude."
She stood facing me hands on her hips.
"What?"
"You could be nicer he's my friend."
I shrugged.
"He's an angel of hell I don't trust him."
"Well I do."
"Phoenix I see the way he looks at you. Like a lost puppy chasing a bone."
She waved a hand dismissing my words.
"He does not we're friends nothing more and he knows that."
"Does he? From what Soneillon said hes already had far more."
Anger crossed her face.
"Seriously Raziel who's the older one here cause right now your acting like the fledgling everyone calls me."
She grabbed a towel heading for the shower slamming the door behind her.
God I'm an idiot she's right I was acting like a fledgling. She had every right to have friends no matter their past.
I sighed as I entered the bathroom.
She was in the shower her back to me the water bouncing off her wings creating a halo around her body. Undressing I stepped in wrapping my arms around her.
"I'm sorry I guess I am jealous of Kailion."
She turned around staring up at me.
"Its fine but there's no need to be jealous we really are just friends."
"I know it's just every time I see him I'm reminded that he's touched you..."
I let my voice trail off.
She cupped my face as she stared into my eyes.
"I love you Raziel I'm with you, even when I was with him I never loved him. In my eyes he has always been just a friend."
She kissed me heatedly.
"It never felt like this."
She kissed me again as she reached down gripping me, my heart quickened.
"Phoenix."
She smiled at the sound of her new name.
"I am and will always be yours."
She lowered herself taking me in her mouth, I gripped her hair as she took me fully. My other hand grabbed the wall as my blood pumped harder.
God this felt so good I longed to be inside her. I reached out caressing her wings as I heard her muffled moan at my touch.
I couldn't take it any more I reached down in one foul swoop I was inside her as her wings hit the wall.
I grabbed her wrists in one hand raising them above her head as I forced my way deeper. She bit into my neck god how it feel good. I would give anything if I could mark her.
I bit her neck back making her moan louder as we climaxed as one.
After our shower we got into bed her slim figure resting on my wings her head on my chest. She began tracing the lines of tattoo a habit she often did.
"Sleep little Phoenix."
I kissed her head as she relaxed soon her breathing slowed as she fell asleep.
Tomorrow I had to do the unthinkable I only hoped she didn't hate me for it.
————
We were once agin outside she had been holding her fire for four hours. She was sweating as the fire around her was fluctuating. The strain was evident in her face it was now or never.
"Your not trying hard enough!"
She scowled.
Already her anger was rising I had been slowly building in up these past four hours now was the time.
"Why are you so angry?"
Her eyes locked onto mine as I circled her.
"Raziel don't."
I continued.
"Could it be because you were manipulated!"
She gritted her teeth.
"Raziel what are you doing?"
Her eyes continued to follow me.
"That's not it are you angry at being lied too?"
She scowled.
"No? Perhaps your angry at Soneillon?"
her teeth gritted at the mention of his name, but it wasn't enough I had to push her harder.
"So what he forced a mark on you broke your arm broke your wing! Is that why your angry."
"No! I don't care about any of that!"
Her fire grew brighter as she strained harder to hold it in.
"Well what then what are you going to do when Soneillon takes away everything you hold dear? Your father-"
"Raziel!"
"Your mother!"
"Raziel don't!"
Her fire became darker as her anger grew, I was getting close.
"What are you going to do when there's no one left!"
She screamed as her fire was pulled inside her then exploded out. I managed to contain it within the courtyard but it distracted me as she tackled me to the ground.
"I'll kill you!"
She flipped over preparing for another attack still surrounded by her fire.
"Phoenix!"
She bared her fangs beyond any reason her fire had control of her and all it wanted to do was kill.
I had to keep pushing I was so close.
"What is it Phoenix! What are you angry at!"
She tackled me again holding my wrists baring her fangs. I didn't move as she stared down at me fury in her eyes.
"I'm angry at myself!"
Her fire instantly went out as she stood up hands at her sides. She wouldn't look at me as sadness radiated from her mind.
"I'm angry at myself."
She looked back at me.
"Are you happy?!"
She started to walk away quickly I jumped up grabbing her hand.
"Phoenix?"
She ripped her hand away, Turning back.
"How can I hope to save any body if I can't even save my own soulmate?"
Her words were like a knife in the heart, I knew she still loved him how could she not he was her soulmate. i just didn't know that she still wanted to save him.
She looked away hiding the tears forming in her eyes, I tried to reach for her again but she stepped away.
"congratulations Raziel you figured me out."
She tried to walk away again but again I stoppped her.
"Phoenix please talk to me."
"No Raziel I told you before I poison everything I touch. I should've left that day in the woods we both would've been better off."
"Don't say that you know it's not true."
"Just leave me alone!"
She turned away this time I let her go. Inside I cursed myself. What had I done?
