I hopped over the bushes of flowers as I ran out of the garden. This is why I don't like dresses. They get in the way when I could be running from something. This dress is flapping like a bird on steroids.
I got sick of it and stopped my running then I hid behind a tree just in case. I grabbed the ends of the dress and ripped it off. I threw the cloth in the air and the wind carried it away. The dress now ended just above my knees.
I ran through the gates that led to the castle entrance. I stopped behind a pillar to catch my breath. I shifted into my wolf form And walked behind the guards near the front entrance. I quickly ran inside and made my way towards the meeting room.
From behind me, I could hear the sounds of arguing and yells of frustration. This made me run faster than before. I knew that my mates have caught up with me. I could hear their frustrated grunts soon behind me. I only looked ahead of me and ran as fast as my legs could carry them.
I turned a corner and I soon made it into the meeting room. I could hear the sounds of steps passing the door. I froze in place and held my breath. As soon as I heard the footsteps move farther away, I shifted back into my human form and grabbed the book.
I opened the door a crack and checked the hallway before running back to my room.
I was about to turn the corner to my room before a hand covered my mouth and dragged me into another room. I felt a spark followed by tingles run through my body at the contact of skin.
I felt his minty breath against the back of my neck made its way up to my ear.
The hand that covered my mouth slowly went down my neck. The shivers that went up my spine must have been very noticeable. I felt his smirk as a deep chuckle erupted from his chest and out into the open air.
With his other hand, he pulled my body closer to his chest. So now my back was in contact with his chest. He suddenly let go of me completely but I didn't run.
I was frozen on the spot and by the fact that mere touching from my mate can have such an effect on me.
" I caught you~," he said, his deep husky voice was close to my ear. I cleared my throat and let out a sigh.
"Baekhyun, let me go," I stated even though it was the exact opposite of how I felt. He clicked his tongue and sat down onto the bed, pulling me with him so that I was on his lap.
" No~ I don't think so darling~" he teased. Then he trailed his lips over my neck, brushing against my skin occasionally. Unintentionally, I leaned more into him as to receive affection.
I felt his smirk grow bigger against my skin at my reaction. He placed butterfly kisses against my neck and trailed them up to below my ear. I bit my lip, it was irresistible. My eyes trailed around the room until I noticed the book on the floor by the door. I must have dropped it when he pulled me into the room.
He must have felt my body tense because he wrapped his arm around my waist while the other slid up and down my exposed thigh.
" Your not thinking of running away~ Are you baby?~" He asked with a tint of sadness but hidden by the playfulness in his voice. I stared at the book then back the hand on my thigh. At the corner of my eye, I saw him rest his chin on my shoulder and kiss a spot on my neck that made me grab his hand to signal him to stop.
"Oh? Did I find it?~" He teased before leaning down to that spot again. I suddenly jumped up, turned around, and pushed him so his back was on the bed. I was straddling his waist and my hands were pinning him above his head.
His eyes filled with shock before he let out another chuckle.
" My~My! Aren't you just full of surprises!" He exclaimed. I let out a small growl and tightened my grip on his wrists. I saw him wince which made me loosen my grip but before he could try and take advantage of it, I leaned down and began kissing his neck.
I felt him freeze in place which made me smirk.
' Pay back~' I thought, as I trailed down kisses to his collarbone. He clenched his hands into a tight fist and began breathing heavily. I trailed my hand over his chest while I kissed his jawline. I managed to keep him pinned to the bed with one hand. He seemed too distracted to notice my loose grip. I lifted my head from his neck so I could get a good look at my work. He began calming down once he realized I pulled away. I bright red blush was spread across his cheeks.
" What's wrong, Darling?~" I asked, my smirk growing bigger. He looked at me with a look in his eyes that I couldn't read. I was about to get up, grab the book, and leave since he seemed to be in a haze at the moment. I was about to get up when I felt him grab the back of my neck and pull me down, closer to him.
There was something warm and soft that pressed against my lips. One hand was holding my waist in place while the other held my neck closer. I closed my eyes and melted into the kiss. He sat up and wrapped both arms around my waist tightly. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. Our tongues fought for dominance, and I was winning until he groped my rear. I gasped at his boldness which made him take advantage of the moment and win the battle between our tongues.
We pulled away from the kiss, catching our breath, and looking into each other's eyes. Just then, white light glowed from both of our eyes, making us both gasp. Before he could speak, I tapped his forehead with the same light as before. He fell back onto the bed out cold. I gasped in shock and confusion as I looked at my hands. Then I looked at him and pressed my head against his chest. He was just asleep, thank goodness.
I quickly jumped from the bed, grabbing the book from the floor, before running to my room at the speed of light. Once I entered the room, I closed the door behind me and locked it. I pressed my forehead against the door and let out a frustrated sigh. I tossed the book onto the bed and locked eyes with the fawn. She looked at me with confusion and concern. I looked down and saw that she was coloring.
"Mates." I bluntly stated. She seemed to have come to a realization and nodded her head in understanding. She patted the spot next to her on the bed before going back to coloring. I threw myself onto the soft bed and groaned into the pillow. The fawn rolled her eyes and was about to go back to coloring when she saw the cover of the book I stole. She squinted her eyes at it, as if trying to remember something.
" Hey, Fawn?" I called out. She looked at me, showing me that she was listening. I sat up and stared at her with a serous look.
" What's your name?" I asked. Her eyes seemed to brighten up the grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. She wrote in small letters on the paper.
" Mia," I read out load. I looked at her then repeated it but in a question.
" Mia?" I asked, just to confirm it. She nodded with a bright smile on her face. I lifted my hand and pinched her right cheek. She squeaked and try to pry my hand off her cheek. A dark aura erupted from me as I lifted my other hand and started squeezing her other cheek.
" Now Mia....care to tell me why you weren't hiding like I told you when those villagers were close by?" I asked in a playful-sadistic type of way. She just squeaked and tried to escape my pincher grip. I stretched her cheeks apart before saying,"Next time listen to me." Then I let go of her and grabbed the book to inspect.
It looked old considering the pages turned yellow from age. I ran my hand over the cover and opened it to the first page.
' Royal's History' it red in big gold letters on the top page. I turned to the next page and froze in my spot. There was an illustration of two godless like creatures, one holding the Moon and the other holding the Earth. It looked as if they were about to battle, holding their weapons towards one another. There was another on the other side of the page but it only turned out to be a huge blob of black ink that seemed to have seeped through the other side.
I turned the page and on the other side was an outline that must have been another illustration but was covered with the same ink on the first page. I felt the page once more. The paper was too thick for ink to be able to seep through.
' Did someone purposely mark the pages of the book?'
I was so deep in thought that I hadn't noticed that Mia was reading over my shoulder the whole time. I was about to continue reading when I heard a knock on my door along with voices on the other side.
I reacted quickly and shoved the book under the bed and pulled Mia into my lap as I sat crossed-cross on the bed. She looked at me with the, 'What are you doing?!/ Why are you touching me?!' look on her face. I quickly ruffled my hair along with hers and whispered in her ear,"Play along"
As if on cue, the door opened and my familiar mates, except for Sehun and Baekhyun, walked in with an annoyed or angered look on their faces.
I put my chin on the top of Mia's head and looked at them without interest.
Mia leaned into my touch and continued coloring, as if it was normal for me to give affection to others.
It's not, by the way. What you saw earlier with Baekhyun was nothing -3-, that's me holding back. If I was very open then I would smother them every time I saw them.
Unfortunately, that isn't gonna happen while I'm here the way I am. Anyways back to my mates. I held my blank stare while they held their anger filled ones. I rolled my eyes and looked out the window, refusing to meet with their heated gazes.
"What was that back in the maze?!" Chanyeol asked. I locked gazes with him and bit my lip as I though of an excuse.
"Why were you outside the meeting room?" Xiumin asked next. I met his eyes and looked at him with a confused look.
" You could have been caught by the guards! Or even worse, the General!" Sushi yelled. My eyes widened a bit before it turned into a glare. I growled a little.
"Well, excuse me your majesties but I was not informed that you were hiding me from your kingdom." I spat at them with a tinge of venom in my words. There eyes held guilt at my words.
" Oh but don't worry!-" I exclaimed, afterwards looking out the window.
" I completely understand if your ashamed of having a wanted rogue as your mate. It's only for your image towards the people." I said without a second thought. I looked down and saw Mia glaring at my mates. I started petting her head and looked at them with a sad smile.
" I'm sorry for the trouble I had caused and that I am currently causing." I bowed my head then lifted it to make eye contact with them all.
" I was only by the meeting room because I was looking for the kitchen so I could make something for Sehun, since he was sick. When I heard you all inside I was about to ask until I heard other people. You then started chasing after me and my first instinct was to run..." I lied on some parts, the guilt slowly eating at me. I couldn't tell them my real reasons for snooping around or my real reasons that I started the chase.
I felt someone grab my hand . I looked up and saw Yixing gripping my hand and looking at me with sadness in his eyes.
"It's not like that at all, Love!" He exclaimed. The tone of his voice was squeezing my heart. I looked at the others and they had the same look in there eyes.
"Even if it isn't, why must you hide me?"I asked coldly. I was prepared to be thrown into another cell. All I had to think about was how I would have to get Mia away from it all.
" We are trying to protect you, Y/n.." Jongin spoke softly. I lifted my head and looked at them with surprise. Yixing squeezes my hand and kisses it softly which makes me blush slightly.
" Why are you protecting me?" I continued. They shouldn't have their attention on me when the kingdom is at war.
"Well because-" Chen started.
"We love you,Y/n!"
