" Why are you protecting me?" I continued. They shouldn't have their attention on me when the kingdom is at war.
"Well because-" Chen started.
"We love you, Y/n!"

~~Y/n POV~~
I had no words that could comprehend what I was feeling right now. They love me? No! Yes? No! They'll only get hurt if I keep this up! Why have I been so distracted?! I can't have them hurt.. but I don't want to be the one hurting them. Crap! What am I going to do?!
"Love? Are you alright?" Yixing asked, squeezing my hand in reassurance. I looked up with no emotion in my eyes.
"Can you all leave the room please, I need a moment to my thoughts." I asked with a monotone voice. They flinched before leaving the room one by one. I only noticed that Kyungsoo stayed behind.
I lifted my head and made eye contact with black pearl like orbs. I was tranced so easily but I shook my head to snap out of it. I felt a sinking in the bed and looked up once more to meet his gaze. Our faces were only a few inches after. The look in his eyes resembled hurt and betrayal, but over those I saw love.
He placed his hand on my cheek so I wouldn't look away from his gaze.
"Kyungsoo..." I whispered. His gaze never left mine. It seemed like hours of looking into each others eyes when he broke out of the heated gaze. He furrowed his eyebrows, as if struggling to concentrate. I looked at him with concern and confusion.
"Why can't you feel it?" He whispered under his breath but I still managed to hear.
"Feel what?" I asked. He removed his hand and stood up. He let out a sigh before leaving the room and leaving me confused. Was I supposed to feel something? Did I not feel it before? Was I missing something?
I placed my hand on my chest and looked toward Mia. She was just staring at the silk sheets, lost in thought.
I got off the bed and reached under it to grab the book. I couldn't find it so I lifted the sheets and took a closer look. I found the book soon enough but what caught my attention was the small square slot in the floor.
I shifted to my wolf form to crawl under the bed with ease. I threw the book out from under the bed and crawled to the slot. Upon closer inspection, it was a small door with an old rustic handle sticking out with a small keyhole below it. It had small but pretty engravings on the connecting corners.
It must need a key considering the keyhole. I crawled back out and shifted back into my human form. I picked up the book and placed it on the dresser. I walked across the room towards the large oval-shaped mirror. I stared at it blankly and took in my appearance. What did Kyungsoo mean? It was stuck on my mind the whole time since he left my room.
I pressed my forehead against the glass and sighed. Why can't I make up my mind? Why do I search for something I don't know? Why did I have to run into them? I stood up and walked to the door. I turned my head and looked to the fawn.
"I'm going to check on Sehun. He's sick" I told her. " Don't leave this room. I will return with food." She nodded and went back to her train of thought. I shrugged and headed out the door. I walked down that familiar hallway.
I eyed the paintings on the wall as I passed. I have ran through these halls countless times, yet I failed to actually notice these simple things. I eventually stopped in my track, noticing that I have past his room and am just wandering the halls. I was about to walk back when a certain painting caught my eye.
I walked toward it slowly. I felt my heart clench suddenly. The confusion and curiosity sprung into one. I felt as though I have lost yet found something new but it was slightly dulled.
It was actually a picture of the Royal family. I saw my nine mates and who I presumed to be their mother and father, the king and queen. The confusion rose up more as I examined the vintage frame.
There were 12 brothers. Only 9 I have met that are also my mates. Who are those other three?
