We needed training on the grounds, and so we got ourselves ready for an exercise. And immediately I heard the sound of the alarm. Both deafening and against what we knew. I looked at Omoro with confusion. "I thought you said tomorrow at dawn?" Her expression became misty, though I doubt it was her expression as much as her abilities. Since yesterday, she seemed to have minor flare-ups, probably due to the armor we wore.
"I don't know, this could be a drill, but you were not informed. Was there anyone else who could have pushed New Rome to do this earlier, even out of spite?" Then, it clicked for both of us. We knew who was responsible.
"Damn, Octavian is deadlier than Jason thought. We'll have some trouble thanks to him, but Bill got us ready just in time." I turned to the Regiment, each one determined to fight, despite the odds and even their condition. "Okay, we go out there and do what we do best. Everyone's ready, and even better, we have enough training to survive. Fight with all you've got, and we will succeed."
Everyone was fitted with custom armor courtesy of Lucy and Beverly, Omoro and I kept our own due to the enchantments, but thanks to our smiths, everyone was at equal power. As soon as we were ready, we ran into combat. And with our lessons from Bill, we made headway into the Roman forces. "To the thrones! Protect them!" I ordered, and the Regiment began to close in and followed me to the throne room. As we arrived, I saw who was fighting Krios. Using a gladius covered in electricity was Jason. Krios was being beaten back. I turned around to see each team member with a look of shock. In front of them, they saw a Titan being beaten by a mortal demigod. I realized what must be done. Although I wanted anything else than that, I was the only one in a position to make it without any cost. "If you wish to leave, do it now. I know this is something that's unheard of, and I will not think less of you. If you must, join the rest of the battle and then look for me. After this fight, I have an plan for us all. Something that will work out better no matter the outcome. For all time?"
They repeated the cry and went each into the fray separately. I hoped that would not be the last I saw of them. And I turned around to look at the battle before me, I knew I had to join in, just secretly. If the armor amplified my powers, did I need my blade? And Omoro and Bill stayed nearby, as well. Bill couldn't go that far, but Omoro staying by me meant she knew the circumstances and didn't care. "Okay, you guys want to help take out a Titan for our freedom? After all, Jason will need help. And it looks like we can change this battle for the better by helping him. The Regiment is a lone force now. Bill keep any fighter away from the door. Use any means. Omoro, help him as much as you can. As for me? I got some time to mess with." Omoro and Bill readied themselves, and I entered the throne room. The strength and confidence from before was restored. Though this time, I kept to the outer edges and shadows. Every few meters, I would send out a rewind just to make sure things kept being changed to help Jason, everyone outside was an unknown, but I could tell my ability was affecting the whole mountain. From what I could see of the throne room, I was unraveling the palace as it was trying to make itself. All I needed was to reach the throne. With each step, I saw Jason fight harder. I was 15 feet from the throne when he did the unthinkable, a lightning strike went from his gladius through Krios straight to the throne. Upon touching the throne, everything around us disappeared. The moment lasted a few minutes, and all I could think was if Jason could see me. My team ran toward me, and I told them to stay back. "If it comes back, you're not safe. I have a feeling Jason broke a connection that had more than one, if it returns you won't make it. I know the sign, and so does Beverly. We'll give you the clear to head in and rejoice." Krios may have been defeated, but Saturn's power still radiated around us. That much I could tell, and I was waiting for the sign that time was up.
Immediately, I saw the symbol. A gear broken apart. The victory was given to New Rome. And I called forth the Regiment. With each one alive and well, I congratulated them. Loretta, however, started crying. I knew what happened. She saw her sibling in battle. I consoled her, "It's okay. We can go to a new home, far away from here. Maybe we can go to Bill's old home. Would you like that? Far away from the fight, where we don't have to hurt anyone. In fact, " I turned to Beverly, " Give me 5 minutes with Jason, then we shadow travel to Bill's original home. Talk to Bill, he will give you a description." As I turned around, Jason was already walking toward me. He was smiling, and it made me think he remembered who I was.
Reaching out his hand, " Jason Grace, Son Of Jupiter, though, with the fight, I guess you already know. Just a question, but I don't know you, right?" All I could say was no, and told him he probably won't ever see me again. With that, the Regiment joined hands, and we shadow traveled to Bill's home. Goodbye America. Wherever we go, it's bound to be better than here.
When we landed, we were near a sign stating SH2 12KM SH49. Nothing else was in sight. "Well guys, looks like we build a house."
So ends the saga of the Battle of Mt. Others, and the beginning of the Regiment. Next, Welcome to Albania.
