My memory still stinks, but thanks to Bill I know more. My father is Saturn, and I am being targeted. The wolves don't seem inclined to help us fight off each threat that comes our way. We've fought hard, and I can tell we're close to the place Lupa's supposed to drop us off. At least I can remember my life enough to know something big is happening in a few days. At least, that's how it seems. Omoro has been getting restless, acting like each fight is a grudge match. It's the only reason it took us over 3 months to get to our location.
"Cub"
I wish Lupa wasn't so good at reading my emotions.
"Do you wish to know the reason I came to escort you?"
"Actually, I wanted to know where we are going, all I heard from Bill was it was another camp. The true home for me. Though, I did realize we were getting special treatment because of Bill's reaction to you showing up. He said we were special." I knew this wolf wasn't one to lie to, and if I did all this traveling would be for nothing.
"You are wise to be truthful, and both questions are easily answered. You travel to the camp where all those with the blood of Rome dwell. The place where the ancient ways are still alive, and it is in disarray. I came to escort you for multiple reasons. The first is that despite my wolves having this job, I saw they alone would not be enough protection."
Again, I thought about our fights. Each one seemed hard, but also like each one had to work to get to us, now that I think about it. They would show up damaged in some way, which doesn't seem odd for monsters. Yet, the damage must have been done by some of the wolves.
"Yes, we are surrounded by my children. However, the true reason I appeared myself is of a different nature. You may not touch the river, or you will be in danger. So, I was sent for you to live by an unknown deity. I don't have dreams, but this is a rare occurrence that does happen. I came on the order of a powerful deity."
"What river? And is there any reason you can think of that I would be in danger of touching it? And what about Omoro?" I needed answers and this wolf ended each one with more questions. I wondered if this was how prey felt when a wolf was after them.
"I can only think of one reason for danger from the Little Tiber. You're not truly Roman, but a mix with something that Rome is against. You and the she-wolf you travel with are powerful, but there is more to it. I see only half of your potential is being used...
We are here."
"This is a field, so where's the camp?" I felt more like prey than ever. And our odds weren't good.
"Step forward." She seemed to be trying for a smirk.
"Ok, Omoro and I will step forward together. And you need to come with us to the river, right?"
I called Omoro, and we took our first step into the grounds of the camp as Lupa followed. Immediately, I felt both safe and hunted. Like I was at home while in enemy territory. The river was three feet ahead, and Lupa let us ride across to the gates of an Ancient Roman-style city. Within five seconds, two teens in armor came toward us. Both looked around 14-15 years old, but their expressions were intense, almost like they just got done with an argument. They removed their helmets, and I realized it was a guy and girl. The guy started smiling and introduced himself as Jason Grace. His companion was silent. Jason told us her name was Reyna and that we were about to enter Camp Jupiter.
"Lastly, I'm sorry, but we have a few questions to ask before we decide you can stay. Easy questions, but that's the rules."
