Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

A high-pitched scream echoed out of a two-story old house as soon as the sun started to rise startling its neighbors. The adult dwellers in the area glanced towards the source of the deafening cry shaking their heads in annoyance before going back to their work.

Nobody bothered to know why such a scream occurred so early in the morning. They were all sure that the odd girl they had for a neighbor was at it again with her scampish antics.

Kang Jisoo and her father just transferred to the neighborhood but the girl was already known for being a queer child. Her father was always out for work and the girl liked to stay at home most of the time not bothering to socialize. It seemed that the father and daughter were very secretive people igniting numerous rumors that started to spread just the day after their arrival.

Jisoo rolled on the floor of their house her laughter echoing through the walls as she clutched her stomach. She had just scared the wits out of her pet cat and the strained shrieking sound she got from it was priceless.

"Oh, Charles, you're the best!" She uttered stifling a laugh as she wiped her teary eyes. The cat let out a displeased meow, telling her that it wasn't a bit amusing as she was before helping itself lie down on the sofa.

"Oh, come on! Don't tell me you're sulking!" She said crossing her arms at the feline in front of her who began licking its paws, ignoring its owner.

"Fine, I won't do it again-" the scent of burning cookies in the air shut her mouth. Her head turned towards the kitchen, eyes wide in horror as she scampered towards the oven.

"Holy shi---!" Her face contorted at the black smoke hitting her face, she put on her baking gloves and pulled out the tray of charred cookies placing them on the kitchen counter.

A disappointed sigh escaped her lips as she stared at the burnt treat in front of her. She was going to give them to her father since he said he would be home later.

"Meow~," Her cat said, it had followed her and was now brushing its soft ebony fur around her leg as if trying to comfort her.

"It looks like I have to welcome father without the cookies, Charles." She uttered sadly.
