After the party, the new family of six decided it was time for bed. Cleaning up their mess they all went upstairs and went to their rooms falling asleep as soon as they laid down.
Everyone except Cyrus and Agni, that is. They probably wouldn't be getting any sleep tonight. During the party, the link between him and Agni kept getting stronger and now it was finally at the point that it would stabilize.
His body shook as he felt his digisoul fully connect to Agni, it was a surreal experience. What made it even better was that he could feel his body getting stronger and his mind become tranquil. Being a tamer wasn't all about the Digimon, if you wanted to go adventuring in a world where you could die at any moment then you had to be strong.
It was pretty much the same as the human world the only difference being the possibility of death was way higher. So the only way to protect yourself was to become strong and to do that you had to raise a powerful Digimon. As Digimon got stronger so did their tamers, for example, someone whose Digimon had become a rookie Digimon could only reach the bronze level as a tamer.
With the link between him and Agni completed he felt energized. Not being able to fall asleep he decided to practice circulating his energy through his body. With each circulation, it became easier to move the energy but after 30 minutes it became taxing and the exhaustion hit him.
"I have to be able to effectively move my energy whenever I need to without wasting any." He thought to himself as he lay in bed, Agni was already asleep next to him. Tomorrow would be the day he started his journey for strength, self-appreciation, and glory. Turning over to cuddle with his partner he fell asleep feeling the most excited he's ever been in years.
"Bam!"
"Ow!"
This was the sound of a teenager getting hit in the stomach by his Digimon to wake him up.
"Agni what the heck, you know there are more gentle ways to wake someone up," Cyrus said as he sat up rubbing his stomach.
But Agni wasn't listening anymore; he was already bouncing up and down in front of the door. Realizing what he wanted Cyrus got up and opened the door. Agni quickly ran out the door and the first thing he did was run downstairs and bite Teddy's tail.
"You little twerp!"
That was all he heard before he closed the door with a laugh. Today was the big day he was about to become a tamer, something he had dreamt of since he was a child. Turning around he went and cleaned himself up got his backpack and went downstairs to get some essentials. One of the best things about digizoid was when scientists figured out how to use black digizoid for storage allowing for even a small bag to hold a whole room's worth of stuff.
Cyrus's bag was exactly that. inside his bag the space of an average Uhaul truck. He filled it with water, snacks, and MRE granted he would still get some supplies from the city in the digital world. It was better to be safe than sorry.
Everyone else was downstairs as well getting ready to see him off. Walking over he sat on the couch and Agni hopped over and sat on his head.
"Cyrus you're leaving today are you..." his sister said looking at him with tears in her eyes.
"Don't cry Diamond I'll be back soon I'm not gonna stay in the digital world forever," he said as he hugged her.
"I know but I'm gonna miss you." She said as she stepped back and wiped the tears from her eyes.
"I'm gonna miss you too," he said getting up and patting her head.
"Here I made this for you," she said as she passed him a bracelet.
It was silver and had two letters hanging on it that read "D&C". He put it on with a smile he was gonna miss his family they were some of the few people he cared for in life. Even so, he wasn't gonna give up his dream so the best he could do was make sure he came back home alive.
His mom walked up to him, hugged him, and whispered "I love you" in his ear before going to sit down next to Diamond, tears still in her eyes.
"Alright let's go any more tears and I might stay," Cyrus said as he walked out the front door.
"He'll be fine Cindy, he's a strong kid and I'll make sure he's prepared before crossing over don't worry." He said while hugging both his daughter and wife.
"I know Dan but I'm still worried, I can't do anything more than believe in him so that's exactly what I'm gonna do." She said while smiling and holding Diamond.
"Alright then," he said as he waved goodbye and walked out after his son.
Outside Cyrus and Agni, were already sitting in the car practicing the control of his energy. His dad saw this and shook his head knowing that his son wouldn't stop working hard till he made it to the top. Getting into the driver's side he pulled out and started the drive to the Union.
"How are you feeling right now," His dad asked with his eyes still on the road.
"I feel fine and a bit excited. I know I can achieve what I want so that's exactly what I'm gonna do. I know what you're gonna say don't worry I'll be careful I know how dangerous this is but it's not like I'm gonna head too far from the city until Agni is at least a rookie," he said while staring out the window.
"Yeah well with all that confidence you better become the strongest," Dan said with a smile.
"Don't worry Dad I'll make all of you proud." As he said that his energy started moving his mind was firm and nothing was gonna get in his way.
