The Gabumon was oblivious to the threat behind it while absorbing the data from its prey. Making sure there wasn't any other Digimon around to bother them at least until the fight was over. Cyrus rushed forward and swung his weapon horizontally.
Instantly sensing danger the Gabumon barely dodged out of the way, turning around to see what attacked it. Standing in front of it was a human boy holding a very dangerous-looking weapon. Blinded by anger it didn't even care about the danger it now faced.
"MY CORE!" was all it said before it opened its mouth blue fire started to build up in its mouth it was getting ready to burn Cyrus alive. But Cyrus wasn't going to let it charge up its attack, before the fire left its mouth Agni shot a "Heated bubble" at its jaw. The force from the impact caused Its vision to go blurry. The attack didn't do much damage but it did disorient it.
That was just enough for Cyrus to come in and finish it off swinging his weapon once again he cut off its left arm. No blood came from the wound, just a soft blue light where its arm used to be. Cyrus wasn't done yet he kept attacking and got a better feel for Gram. When he finally finished the Gabumon was in pieces little blue lights drifting off it. Not wasting any time Agni quickly went over and started to absorb the digicore that was floating in the air. Colt had a look of contemplation as Agni ate the digicore.
"Looks like I need to better my focus and efficiency in battle, one thrust would have been enough. Quick and efficient is the best way to deal with an enemy," Cyrus thought as he put away Gram and calmed himself down.
After Agni finished they kept moving, not wanting to stay in the area for too long. As they walked he checked his digivice to see how much Agni had grown after the fight.

Agni had grown a decent amount a couple more rookie Digimon and he would digivolve again. Judging by the amount of stats gained that Gabumon had just recently digivolved too bad his life in that stage was short-lived. The farther along they followed the river the less Digimon seemed to appear.
It had been 2 hours since the fight with the Gabumon and they had only encountered baby and In-training level Digimon. Leaving the baby Digimon alone he made Agni do all the fighting against the In-training Digimon. He could have easily just taken them out and had Agni absorb the data but doing so would just make him weak and reliant on him in a real battle.
They had just finished taking out a Tsunemon when they heard shouting. Becoming alert, Cyrus made Agni go into his digivice and slowly moved towards the noise. As he got closer he realized it wasn't just shouting but also laughter, they had finally found a village.
Standing in front of him was a man who looked to be around 20 years old. He was joking with a Kabuterimon. The imposing insect seemed to be having a good time by how much it was laughing. Right behind them was a village. It was pretty big with multiple different Digimon walking around.
The Kabuterimon was either that man's partner or the chief of the village as only champion-level Digimon were strong enough to hold that position. Considering how close they were to the city it must have a decent relationship with the officials in the city. He was deciding whether to go talk to the guy when he was disrupted out of his thoughts.
"Hey, you behind the tree come on out we ain't gonna hurt you." said the guy who was talking to the Kabuterimon.
They had both heard the fight that happened not too far away and then they felt something sneaking up towards them. He had thought about going over and checking it out but was having too good of a time talking to the chief. So he just shouted and hoped whatever was there would come out on its own.
Hearing the voice Cyrus realized he had been found out before he even got close. Stepping out from behind the tree he walked up to the duo as they looked at him with surprise.
"I thought you were just a scared Digimon didn't think you would be a tamer and so young too shouldn't you be in the city training?" the guy asked with a curious look.
"Yeah I was but something went wrong with the teleportation and I ended up out here, the name is Cyrus by the way. Do you know how to get to the city from here?" Cyrus asked.
He had decided to just tell the truth about the situation hiding information would just make things more difficult. Not like he could do anything if either one of them decided to attack him. One was a champion-level Digimon and the other a tamer who was far more experienced than he was based on how easy he was talking to the Digimon beside him.
"Oh, it's you! Guess I'm pretty lucky the people from the Union gave out a mission to find you and bring you safely back to the city. Sorry, my name is Mike." Mike said as he started laughing again.
Never would have thought that he would find the kid everyone was searching for by accident when he came out to visit an old friend. Cyrus on the other hand realized that the Union must have started searching for him the moment something went wrong.
He could have probably just stayed in that cave and eventually, they would have found him. That would have just hindered his growth plus coming to the village had made the whole process quicker.
"Thanks for telling me so are you gonna take me back to the city?" He asked curiously wondering what would happen now.
"Nope, I didn't even take the mission. I was just out here to visit my old friend Terry over here. When my someone gave me a call and told me what happened. I'll let them know you're in the village and they'll send some people to come and pick you up. They should be here in about an hour." Mike said as he pointed towards the Kabuterimon.
The Digimon in question had walked over to a group and rookie Digimon while he was talking to Cyrus.
"Thanks, I'll just go look for some Digimon to fight until then," Cyrus said as he shook Mike's hand.
"No problem don't go too far though don't want the Union getting on my ass if I lose you," Mike said as he took out his digivice to notify the Union.
Cyrus didn't show it but he was relieved that he didn't have to go wandering the woods from village to village till he eventually found the city. That would just hold him back considering he wouldn't have access to a lot of the facilities and amenities he would receive from the Union. Now that his way back was resolved he could focus on getting Agni to digivolve.
