POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING

Trembling I reached out a shaky hand and pulled her into an embrace so she couldn't see what lay in front of us.

In front of us lay her two siblings, slaughtered and strewn about. It almost appeared like they were tortured for hours on end. There blood splattered everywhere.

"H-how?" Was all she asked now shaking so bad that her tremors rocked my body.

"Don't look anymore Sasha. It's not something you need to see," I tried carefully.

I carefully angled her body against mine in a way that she wouldn't be able to see the horrible slaughter behind us.

"We were only gone for no more than half an hour, how could this happen?" Sasha continued to question.

"I-I-I don't know. Maybe they were playing and ran into a bear or-or a wandering criminal?" I questioned quietly.

I slowly stood up and carried Sasha out of the cave and set her at the entrance before I wandered back inside.

I went over to one of my many baskets and withdrew a handful of blankets. I carefully laid them on the children, carful to not damage them anymore than they were.

There was so much blood and half an hour later after I gathered them and put them in separate bags I was covered in it.

"Sasha I need you to stay here while I go into town to get some things," I stated as I walked out of the cave.

Sasha looked up with glazed eyes and nodded once before looking away and staring into nothingness.

After going into town carefully concealing my blood soaked clothes, I quickly bought a shovel and a tarp and returned to Sasha.

She looked up at me lacking life. I kneeled in front of her and carefully laid her down on the ground and whispered softly to her until she fell asleep.

I began my work as quietly as I could and hoped that Sasha stayed asleep so that when she awoke she might have a clearer mind and harder resolve.

I started by digging side by side graves and laying some tarp on the bottom of both holes.

I then proceeded to put the children in the graves as carefully as I could and covered them with the tarp.

Four hours later everything was done. The children where carefully buried.

Sasha had woken up two hours into my work and had said a few things for her siblings as I finished burying them and then scurried off to find flowers.

When Sasha had returned I had created headstones and cleaned most of the blood from the cave.

"Do you need a hand?" She asked as she walked in and beheld me on my hands and knees scrubbing at the blood soaked floor.

"No, no need to trouble yourself. I'm almost done anyway," I replied softly.

"Then I need you to give me something else to do. Please," She said desperation dripping in her voice.

I sighed, I was so tired and my eyelids starting to droop.

She looked at me concerned and kneeled in front of me and laid a cold hand on my forehead and swore viciously at the heat that she beheld.

"Your burning up Yuri, you need to rest," She said gently while trying to usher me back.

I gently grabbed her hand, kissed her knuckle and replied softly, "I know, I'll rest when everything's clean, I'm ok I promise."

"Yuri," She hiccuped as she tired brushing away her endless flowing tears.

"I'm not afraid of you or anything. You are my top priority and you don't need to be sitting in here while the caves like this," I said while pulling her into a hug that was weaker than I would have liked.

Sasha cried softly for another half an hour but let me finish cleaning as best I could. When I finished I stood up. A wave of dizziness instantly assaulted me and Sasha was instantly there.

Before I knew what was happening she had pulled out two bedrolls side by side and laid me in one.

I passed out before I even saw her do anything else.

When I came to the next morning a cool wash rag on my forehead and Sasha laying on top of me I smiled slightly.

I reached up slowly and removed the rag and set it down beside my head. I then reached over to where Sasha lay on my shoulder and moved a stray hair out of her face before kissing her forehead.

She snuggled in unconsciously and wrapped her arm around my waist. We laid like that for several hours.

While I watched her sleep I couldn't help but think about all the horrible things that had happened in less than two days. Sashas remaining family had been brutally slaughtered, and here I was being more of a burden.

When she at last awoke the sun had just started to go down and she looked up at me and smiled softly.

"How is it that despite everything that has happened I still want to kiss you?" She asked quietly.

I smirked slightly and kissed her gently. Still not entirely sure I deserved this. I had failed to protect her and yet here she still was.

As I pulled away she looked at me a bit breathlessly and hugged me tight as she whispered, "Honestly thank you, for burying them and for staying with me.

I nodded slightly, a lump now in my throat and hugged her with an arm.

"Yuri close your eyes," she commanded softly as she sat up.

I watched her warily and after searching her eyes a moment I obeyed.

I heard her breath hitch slightly before I felt her lips crash into mine.

It was different from all of our other kisses, this one was filled with a longing so deep and intense that before long we were both panting.

She tugged at my shirt and I sat up and pulled it over my head and then pulled at hers, trying not to separate from her for to long.

Before either of us knew it all our clothes were discarded on the floor and I pushed her down onto her back and quietly asked, "Are you sure that you want to do this?"

She searched my eyes for a moment before she answered with a slightly panted "Yes," before she pulled my neck down and kissed me again.

That night we both felt things that were amazing and we dragged the most delicious noises form each other. It was a frenzy and I worshiped her body and kissed her all over for I had a sinking feeling that sooner than I thought she would be gone.
