Shu ended up vacating the room next to mine the following day and trudged into my room through the window before so much as a greeting.
"If your not going to use the door then why come in at all?" I asked with quiet venom, not even bothering to look up from polishing my knife.
"Well I was originally going to use the door but it was more fun this way," Shu retorted dramatically.
I looked up from my knife and found him leaning casually against my bedroom wall and staring at me.
"What?" I asked sharply.
"Nothing you just look so fragile and we-" He started only for a knife to go hurtling through the air straight at his head and him dodge it by a hair.
"A second later and you'd be dead," I chuckled.
"If I was to die you wouldn't find your master," he quipped as he pulled the knife from the wall and throw it back at me.
I caught it in between my fingers and chuckled, "if you think that I have to rely on you your dead wrong. You are convenient I'll admit, but I'm sure I could find him without your help."
Shu just smiled and said, "Neon city."
"What?" I asked confused.
"That's where he's going next," Shu said seriously and crossed his arms.
"Why didn't you tell me yesterday?" I asked venomously while packing my bag.
"You decided to reconvene the whole master thing tomorrow and I gladly advised. This trip will take two day's by foot and I wanted sleep." He sighed.
"I wanted to find my master before he disappeared again and Neon is a huge city with some shady people, or so I've heard." I grunted headed out the door.
"Why is it so important to find him?" He asked following me down the stairs.
"He taught me everything and that's all you need to know." I replied dryly and nodded my farewell towards the barkeep who just jerked his chin.
"Can we stop somewhere? I need to grab something's before we go," He asked as he grabbed my arm.
I turned around and looked at him rolled my eyes and motioned for him to lead the way as I sighed heavily. He smiled at the sound and started into a steady jog down the street.
After we picked up his supplies we set off on our trip to Neon City and hoped for the best.
The first few hours of the trip we ran through desert and climbed many hills and only stopped when Shu demanded water and rest.
"Hey what's your name? You never told me," He panted.
I watched him wipe the sweat from his brow before I said, "Yuri, you can call me Yuri Akasuri."
"Alright Yuri question," He started and waited until I nodded before saying, "How the hell are you not winded right now? We've been running for an entire hour and your have not complained once."
I drained half of the water contents in one go before wiping my mouth and replying "Practice."
After Shu caught his breath we ran for several more hours and as night struck we set up camp between two hills for some cover from the wind lest it get very chilly.
When the fire was made and bed rolls laid on the ground I tossed a piece of bread and an apple at Shu.
"Thanks," He said wearily and dug in.
I nestled into my bed roll closed my eyes and listened to the night around me and smiled. No matter where one traveled the sounds of the insects never changed.
I opened my eyes and looked to the star that never left and smiled once more before nodding off into nothingness. Embracing the darkness as an old friend.
