The city of Fintan had regular meetings with its executives. These people were in charge of making sure that everything in the city was running correctly as well as planning for the worst. Each of them possessed major talent and wanted to see the city continue to grow whilst keeping the original feel. But as the city became known to more and more nations, it was important for them to have a military force.
"I wanted to propose something I informed you all about in an earlier meeting." Fishy stood up in the centre of their large meeting hall, something that looked as if it was taken straight from the Edo period of Japan. "I wish to create a spy unit."
The others looked at him, Ziu leaning in from the end of the table to glance over at Fishy.
"This unit will consist of several people with the purpose of gathering intel and espionage. But will be constantly developed. Currently, Ziu is the person in charge of all military matters. He is the person who trains the soldiers. To make it easier for him, we will split the military into regiments. Each regiment will consist of around 100 knights and magic users, as that's all we have, and will respond to a colonel. These lieutenants will train them in any way they wish but will ultimately do as Ziu says. Ziu will still be in charge of the overall military but will temporarily be working to train the spy unit until they are able to become independent."
Ziu's new role was strict. His spiky hair even started to drip at the thought of the stress. A lot of work had been thrown on him but his determination was unrivalled.
"I will do it." He jumped out of his chair with his hand on his heart. "I will train them myself as well as find suitable candidates!"
Ziu didn't have many chances to prove himself. He had been training Fishy nonstop since he first arrived, back when it was a small village. His mastery of the sword was one that Fishy still can't replicate. But even so, Ziu would always admire Fishy. What Fishy lacked in mastery of the sword he made up for in magic, but to say he lacked sword skill was unfair, as Fishy possessed the skills to take on any royale knights that were thrown at him. It's just that he is yet to catch up or get close to Ziu's full potential.
"I shall redeem myself from last time!"
Ziu continued to remind himself of his failures. Losing against the colossal marionette that knocked him out, leaving Fishy to deal with it alone. He swore, as a knight, that he was unfit to fight next to his leader, but Fishy didn't care for any of that, and purely cared for his safety.
"Moving on to the next order of business…"
"What do we do about the two girls?" Clara stood up, quietly raising her hand as the room's attention turned to her. "What if they are spies sent here by Tanba?"
"I feel like that is unlikely," Fishy stated. "They haven't done anything wrong and are too innocent for that"
"One of them even came to my bakery." Tin, the mother of triplets and also the head of catering and agriculture in the city, spoke. "The little one's face lit up brightly when she smelt the fresh bread. I offered to teach her but she was too shy and hid behind her older sister. I was going to give them a free loaf but sadly they left."
"It's possible they are just tourists. They may leave soon but we should still look after them just in case. They are far too inexperienced to know how to ride a horse so they most likely walked here from wherever they came from. They probably wanted to rest their legs for a few days."
"That would explain why their clothes are so dirty…" Silmor, the city's head builder, a rough-looking dwarf added.
"We will wash their clothes." Fishy said, "Clara, you give them some temporary clothes from your shop. Silmor," Fishy turned to face Silmor. "How is the public bathhouse coming along?"
"Perfectly," His eyes lit up when speaking about the masterpiece he was about to unveil. "We just need to fill it up and it should all be ready for the grand opening tonight."
"Brilliant, then I have a plan."
The room turned sour, hoping that whatever plan Fishy had didn't involve them.
"Clara, Tin and the triplets should be the first to try the outdoor bath before opening tonight. You will also be joined by the two sisters, they could do with a rest."
"Thank you so much." Tin was melting away at the thought. After hearing about the warm healing powers of a hot bath, she wanted to try one and mixed with the relaxing nature of being outside surrounded by nature, It was enough for her to kill someone just to try it.
"Why do I have to go?" Clara rejected the idea.
"Because you are a girl."
"And?"
Clara was the only person who would stand up to Fishy. The two had been close ever since Fishy arrived, so she was used to him messing about.
"Maybe those girls were right, you are a pervert."
"I won't be there, idiot. Just do it. You'll be able to relax and you may end up enjoying yourself."
"Fine…" Clara gave in as Tin started jumping up and down next to her.
"Perfect, as soon as the sun sets, you will all go to the public bath together. Silmor, continue working and also work on school when you are done. Ziu and I will keep training."
"Yes, My lord!" The room stood up and bowed to Fishy disgust. It was how every meeting ended, and he was still just able to put up with being referred to as lord.
