Chapter 57 - I don't want to leave

The house that Robin and Callie were given to stay in was a rather small one. It had a double bed that they both shared as well as a bathroom, but other than that, there wasn't much to it. The walls and floor were of excellent condition but as for furniture, it was bare, but they didn't need to worry.

They would sit on the bed and rest as they looked out the one large window that peaked into the city below them. Even as the sun started to fall and the night started to rise, they didn't close their curtains as the city was far more interesting.

"How was your day?"

As Callie walked into the room to find her sister staring out the window, she approached the bed asking something she never had asked before. The two of them would always stick together, so this was new for her.

"It was fine… how about you?" Robin's low tone spoke, not even turning around to face her beloved sister.

"It was fantastic, I met this builder guy, made some bread, tried all sorts of tasty snacks and things that I didn't know existed before. Tin was so kind that she even reminded me to save some for you. Here."

Callie held out a piece of bread wrapped in a tiny cloth. She handed it to Robin who drew the curtains before spinning around and taking it. She unwrapped it carefully, as to not break apart her sister's hard work, and saw the wonders of taste crash against her tongue when it hit her mouth. Food, unlike anything she'd tasted before. Flavours that were new to her began to open up in her mind.

"I think I want to do more baking."

Robin stopped eating at her sister's words. Gently sitting on the bouncing bed and inviting her sister to join her.

"We can't stay here…" Robin's tight voice broke out. "We have to leave tomorrow."

"But, can't we just stay for a bit longer… I really want to stay for longer… maybe it'll be fine. Maybe no one will come after us..."

Callie burst into tears that she couldn't hold in.

She was only 10 and had been moving her whole life, unsure of why. Robin, being the older one, hid it all from her. She was protecting her sister as much as possible from their fate, but they would have to meet their dad sooner.

"I know…" She patted Callie on the head, as she started to wail in her lap. "Please stop crying… you know what happens when you start crying… Now I'm going to start crying…"

Robin eventually gave in.

The two sisters hugged each other tightly, as to not let each other go. The warmth of each other was with them as their tears eventually dried up. They continued hugging till the middle of the night when the city was asleep. Callie eventually passed out from crying so Robin helped her to bed.

She pulled back her sister's dark hair that was just like her own and smiled at her sleeping innocent face. But her smile quickly lost it's composure as tears started landing on the covers that protected her.

"I'm sorry, Callie… I will always love you, my one and only sister."
