Chapter 50 - Fishy's Day Off

Having returned from the Tanban empire and saved the village from a mysterious creature, called the Echo Wolf, Fishy was now able to relax.

It only took him longer than 1 week, but he could finally fully recover from his gruelling adventure.

Luckily, the following day was one that was met with sun, as normal during summer. The sun shined brightly on the entire village whilst the builders worked, the bakers baked and the soldiers trained. Everyone in the village was busy, except for the founder and leader, who was passed out on the cold floor of the open-air Japanese-inspired meeting room, fanning himself so he didn't overheat.

"It's too hot…" He said to his bright pink-haired secretary, Clara, who stood above him, wanting to kick him whilst he couldn't fight back.

"Well, I can't control the weather. You should go to the beach if you want to cool down or do something like that."

Fishy sat up at the proposition.

"There's a beach near here?"

"No."

Fishy fell back down in disappointment that filled his day. Sighing constantly whilst everyone worked hard outside without complaining about the weather.

"But this gives me a great idea!" Fishy sat back up and crawled over to a table with some paper and a small pen filled with ink harvested from a mighty creature. A large squid that had vanished many ships with its bullet propulsion that can shoot ink through any hull, a jet squid.

After a few scribbles and some self words of encouragement, he handed Clara a small drawing and said:

"Go give this to Silmor. Tell him to cancel whatever it is he is building and start on this."

"But he's building the school."

"I said what I said! It's meant to be summer break anyway."

"Ok…" Clara darted off on her leader's orders, running off to find Silmor, a dwarf and also the head builder who was in charge of any and all construction.

"I see… I see… What a genius idea!" Silmor screamed as he jumped off the top of the school high watchtower. A cloud of dust poofing up where he landed "I'll get right on this."

Silmor dashed off with his tools leaving his small team to continue working on the school. Clara laughed awkwardly as she quietly tried to make her escape before getting dragged into helping.

As Clara roamed around the village, looking at how much it had truly grown, she reflected on how small it used to be. A village that was once filled with death was now filled with cheering kids running up and down the paved roads with various carts dragging along supplies.

"I guess we can't call it a village anymore." Fishy jumped out of nowhere, next to Clara who was hoping she wouldn't run into him again. "Although where I come from a city would be defined as needing a cathedral, I think we can say we've skipped that and gotten the size thing down."

"So what? We are officially Fintan City? Doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely."

"Well, technically it would be the City of Fintan, or just Fintan if you want."

Clara was against the change at first. Seeing her home grow like this was a lot for her to see, but after seeing the community come together and evolve her village, she couldn't help but be happy.

"The city of Fintan… I like it." She smiled.

"It's not that bad, eh? Anyway, come with me, Silmor should be done."

"Already? It's only been 10 minutes."

"Well, he is only digging a square hole."

Fishy and Clara were joined by the whole city for the opening of their latest attraction which was currently covered in a large cloth. The other executives of the village such as Ziu and Tin also came to watch. Silmor stood with the sun directly above him and sweat reflecting his tanned skin.

"Thank you, everyone…" He announced. "I know it's a quick job but I hope it'll get the job done."

The village didn't have high expectations after the speech, but after Silmor pulled off the cloth, everything changed.

Underneath was not only a 50-metre swimming pool, filled with crystal clear and untouched water but also another circular swimming pool with a pool bar in the centre. The larger pool was clearly designed for all the kids whereas the circular one was meant for the adults. The bar was already filled with various alcohols and fruits they received through trading. It was like being in a 5-star tropical resort.

Everyone looked shocked at what they saw but were uncertain as to how to get in with clothes on. It appeared to Fishy that swimming pools were something that hadn't been invented in this world and such no one had any swimming costumes. But Fishy was easily a genius and planned for this.

In the time it took Silmor to build the pool, Lilith and Fishy worked tirelessly creating tons of swimming costumes for everyone, from the usual trunks for the guys to Fishy's custom made bikinis for the girls. He threw them about at random as the pack of wild animals jumped to grab them, not even going home to get changed and instead of stripping to put them on there.

"It's a swimming pool," Fishy said to Clara who was standing by the side, watching everyone jump in and disturb the gentle pool with their screams.

The triplets were already put to work, with Tim, Tam, and Tom lifeguarding and making sure to enforce the strict swimming pool rules, whereas Tin managed the pool bar and got the adults drunk during the day. Even Ziu relaxed next to the edges of the bar as he melted away holding a coconut filled with sweet liquor.

"I don't know how you keep doing it. You just keep amazing everyone." Clara was speechless as she couldn't close her mouth, even the elder slowly walked past and took a sunbed from Silmor who was quickly making them for people to rest.

"Are you going to get in?" Fishy asked rather creepily.

"I don't have anything to wear."

"I made you one." He would get arrested for saying these words to anyone else.

Fishy pulled out a light pink swim costume for Clara. Compared to the others, it was obvious more time was spent on it. It wasn't as plain as all the others and had small frilly bits on it to further show Clara's beauty.

"I won't force you."

"It's fine…" Clara said taking it, "I'll go have fun with everyone else, but you gotta come to."

Fishy didn't waste time throwing off his shirt and trousers, revealing that he was wearing his own blue swimming shorts underneath and jumping in. Even if taking his shirt of showed his scars from his fights, no one was bothered by it.

The rest of the hot heatwave filled day was spent in the pool.

Everyone spent it smiling and having fun whilst getting no work done.

However, whilst they were having fun, two new people entered the village. Stumbling around the place that was new to them.

Two kids, both younger than Fishy. He didn't know it yet, but these two kids were about to drag the entire city into a long tiring war.
