Chapter 8 - Glimpse of Creativity

I didn't keep track of the time I spent at Mary's I simply sat there I didn't meet other families. None of them could replace the family I already had, I instead focused on school, reading in my spare time. Reading was a safe haven for me, I could escape to far away worlds and live out adventures even for just a few hours I was someone else and most importantly I was somewhere else. I planned for college I had awesome grades since school and reading was all I did and money wasn't an issue all the life insurance was put into a bank account for when I turned 18, several million dollars but I didn't care I'd trade it away and more in less then a heartbeat to get my family back. However on my senior year a recruiter for the army showed up to our school gave a speech and handed out recruitment forms. After reading through it peaked my interest I could go over seas and have my own adventure similar to the characters in my books, ah to be young and naive. After graduating I quickly joined the army but as I filling out the paper work Recruiter Drew informed me that the Army had plans for me to be a weapons designer which is a lot cooler then it sounds. They first taught us how to clean and assemble basic guns before moving on to vehicles and the more advanced equipment. Then we where taught basic combat how to shoot and aim hand to hand and some small basics with knives. They didn't go much into detail saying after you learn the basics it's practice and drills that make you good, after a few months my life settled into a rhythm of cleaning and assembling and fixing guns and vehicles and various things that need attention. After four years I finally joined a small class about how to design weapons, for the most part it was just more in depth about assembling but creating your own parts others could put together. After creating a scope that had a visual that informed the sniper of wind speed and distance and other variables that a spotter usually shares. I was quickly sent up the chain, to eventually leading a group of brilliant engineers, chemists, and physicists to design more weapons to protect our boys overseas and at home.
