Chereads / Blood Moon: The Great Thief / Chapter 33 - 2.15 - Killing Blackwell/Server Maintenance

Chapter 33 - 2.15 - Killing Blackwell/Server Maintenance

While the figure was chasing Scarlett, Tyrant and the others managed to find a place to hide.

They found a cave that had absolutely nothing inside of it and took a breather. Everyone had low health and all of their names were dripping blood like Scarlett's.

"Hey... why are... there so... many players?" Storm was out of breath. He struggled to spit out this sentence.

"I think when Scarlett used her skill, the bright light must've shone so bright that everyone in the kingdom was able to see it. I heard other people speaking about a rare item drop but we all know that the only rare thing in this area is Scarlett." Tyrant said. His breathing was also disordered. He tried his best to calm is breathing and spoke to everyone.

"Scarlett must be surrounded right now, right?" Shiroyuki asked worriedly and everyone looked at her strangely.

"...Why are you guys looking at me like that?" she asked as she saw the looks on their faces.

"That crazy girl... she might kill everyone! Tell me... how would we get by in this game if everyone was our enemy? We need to find her as soon as possible so we can minimize her kill count!" Tyrant said in a panic. He felt that he had a good grasp on Scarlett's abilities by now. That being said, she was type of person who beat whoever got in the way with overwhelming force. If melee class players came after her, she would cut through them with her gear. if mages shot their skills at jer, she could just tank it.

Playing with her is like using a cheat code while going against her is like facing a world boss. Even he would have to have no options against her.

After saying this, Tyrant led everyone towards the mass of players ahead.

Meanwhile, Scarlett had just noticed that a terrifying boss was after her that even 100 of her would have no chance of beating. Her only saving grace was that it was only a little faster than her... Wait...

"I've finally caught up to you!" A hoarse voice tinged with blood was heard and at this time, she felt something hit her soul.

[You have been locked on to by Blackwell. Take cover quickly!]

Scarlett turned her head and saw the humanoid robot's arm turn into what looked like a cannon. this cannon then started to suck in the surrounding mana, almost causing her fall from the air. A blue orb of chaotic mana quickly gathered and with a crazed look on its face, it shouted, "DIE!!!!!!!!!!"

For a moment, it was like everything except the mana ball froze in time.

Scarlett felt her skin tingle and burn and quickly maneuvered with the greatest amount of flexibility she could muster But as the ball got closer, her wings suddenly stopped working and she began to plummet down to the earth.

Scarlett saw the ball go past her but then it suddenly stopped and followed her down. Her mouth twitched in disbelief as she thought she would have her first death here. She closed her eyes, accepting her face when a pair of arms wrapped around her. She opened her eyes in surprise and saw her mentors face right in front of hers.

"My little disciple... you seem to have trouble follow you everywhere you go." Her mentor said and then looked into the distance where the half man and half machine was at. Scarlett looked over and was in shock to see the man frozen in place. it was as if he was frozen in time. Her mentor sighed and flicked Scarlett's forehead. "This is ultimately your fault so you need to deal with this problem. That being said, I will help you this one time. After this, I won't be able to help you again." Scarlett suddenly felt power flood her body and looked on her ui to to there was a new icon above her health bar.

[Reaper's Blessing] - The death god has noticed your predicament and has decided to help you during this tumultuous trial. 35% bonus to all normal and hidden stats. Resets all cooldowns. All cooldowns longer than 1 hour are reduced to 1 minute.

Duration: 2:00:00.

"That is all I can do for you right now. This is farewell for now." Her mentor suddenly vanished and Blackwell began to move again. it was as if he was shot out of a cannon. Scarlett hurriedly dodged as he hit her afterimage. He turned and faced her with a malevolent expresion on his face.

"I finally have you where I want you. Your flesh will make an excellent skin suit. So soft and tender..." It licked its lips just imagining wearing Scarlett's skin making Scarlett unable to bear his words.

without saying anything, she immediately took out her blades and turned into a series of afterimages that arrived at his side withing mere moments. Blackwell widened his eyes and... teleported away...

"Fuck!" Scarlett was unable to hold in her frustration at that moment. She thought that only casters could use the blink ability but it seems an anomaly is in front of her. It also wasn't a normal blink but a delayed blink. Helios didn't appear until 3 seconds later.

Blackwell had a focused expression on his face as he observed Scarlett from a very lengthy distance. It was shocked that this low level human could reach such speeds because if Scarlett was moving this fast earlier...

It stopped thinking as Scarlett unleashed her speed once more. This time, her blades were looking to drink the mixture of oil and blood from this freak. Her speed seemed to almost doubled as she shot at Blackwell like a shooting star.

Blackwell was unable to react as a barrage of attacks slashed through him.

All of Scarlett's attacks made Blackwell enraged and suddenly, a wave of pressure shot from his body, flinging Scarlett off of him like a fly. However, Blackwell was horrified.

Scarlett shot back at him with and even more frenzied rage and used a special move on him. A divine gold light combined with a golden inferno emerged from her shortsaber and it dug into Blackwell's shoulder.

[Holy Annihilation]

Scarlett's battle made all of the fighting stop as a Golden light shot into the sky. The pressure from the light had been so intense that everyone felt as if an huge weight was dropped onto their back.

Blackwell was worse off than the players who were further back. Scarlett's attack not only took out the half of his remaining health but his arm was cut off from his body, leaving him in a crippled state. He was flung like a paper football and slammed into a distant mountain.

The scene of his arm being ripped from his body sent Scarlett into a sort of blood frenzy as she chased after him, showing no mercy. In a few seconds she caught up with his body that looked worse for ware and took out her bow and prepared her finishing move, [Blazing Sunray].

When she finished casting, her arrow, a thin beam shot out of her bow and penetrated Balckwell's head. His head instantly disintegrated and along with that came a notification.

[You have killed Blackwell and freed the city from his tyranny Due to you receiving help from your mentor, you will recieve 25% less exp.]

Even though this was the case, she still leveled up 5 times from it, bringing her level up to level 42. Scarlett quickly picked up the loot but before she could finish getting the mass amounts of loot from the side of the mountain, an arrow whizzed by her face. She dove away as hundreds of arrows flew at her. When she came back to her feet, her bow was already in her hands as she released an arrow and shot one of the thousands besieging her.

What these people didn't expect was that her arrows would be able to overpenetrate through so many people. This one flame arrow ended up taking the lives of 23 people making the people around them freeze in place. Everyone else continued their charge.

Suddenly, Scarlett felt the mana in the area fluctuate wildly and immediately used gale steps as fire, ice, lightning and water all converged into that area. All of these different elements mixing rapidly caused an explosion to occur. With this explosion, everyone thought that Scarlett was finally dead but then they saw a piece of loot dissapear from the ground... and then another. This was when Scarlett reappeared in front of them acting as if they were not there.

Scarlett still had a few more thing to pick up when she felt a presence appear behind her. For the time being, the assassin thought he was in the clear... that was until he saw a flaming short sword come out with a flash of gold. His vision turned black and he fell, bisected, onto the ground.

Many gasped at the display and some even got sick.

Scarlett picked up the rest of the items and looked towards the crowd of people with her cold eyes. The look she gave them sent chills down their spines.

Scarlett raised her hand and put her middle finger into the air before going into stealth. Everyone's lips twitched as they saw her dissappear.

"I think.. that was Scarlett." Not far away from the action, the rest of the Moonlight Mercenaries were resting on tree branches, not at all willing to join the chaos. Shirayuki said this and everyone nodded.

"Don't you guys think that her character was bugged or something? She turned a boss level character into a normal mob and slayed it. It was as if she was the boss." Everyone looked at Storm and even though they felt he was right, they didn't say anything.

"Hi." A wild Scarlett appeared right beside Storm just after he said that.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" Storm screamed like a girl and when he stopped to look around him, he could see everyone's judgemental stares. His face turned red and he turned to look at Scarlett who was trying her hardest to stifle her laugh.

"What's so funny?" He angrily shouted and glared at her.

"You... Everything about you is funny..." After trying her best to hold it in, Storm's changing facial expressions did her in and she had to let her laugh come out. Her laughter was infectious and soon, everyone was laughing at Storm who looked as if he were on the verge of tears.

"Alright, drama queen. Suck those tears in. We should all be excited. We completed the quest so we need to turn it in. I was able to pick up all of the loot before those assholes showed up." Scarlett said but everyone widened their eyes.

"You... You mean that was..."

"I killed Blackwell and I believe that he dropped something that you have been waiting for but first, let's turn in the quest." Everyone excitedly nodded and Scarlett led the way back into the city while evading the players still looking around the city.

After a 25 minute trek, they managed to find the old man. They walked up to them and Scarlett took out a head from her inventory. "I have slain Blackwell and this is his head." She said and handed it to the trembling old man. He almost dropped it from his excitement.

"Finally! Finally! The city can finally rest in peace... I can finally rest in peace..." He began to shed tears of joy. "Thank you Lightbearer and friends. I don't know if this enough but please this gift as thanks. We will likely never see each other again. I will most likely pass on..." Suddenly the man began to become transparent. He sighed. "It seems that heaven is taking me away now rather than later."

[Hidden Quest Completed. You have freed the city of Blackwell's tyranny and allowed many lost souls to finally find salvation. Grade: S]

[Rewarded 1,500,000XP, 1,000 gold, S-Ranked Rewards: Light Bearing Arts, Tier 2 Hell Mode Class Up Quest]

[Tier 2 Class Up: Hell Mode - 1st Step: Reach level 50]

Scarlett was pleasantly surprised by her rewards and leveled up 3 more times, bringing her level up to 45.

[Warning: in 1 hour, the game will be undergoing some maintenance. Please log off before hand. Maintenance will last for 18 hours. Thank you for your understanding.]

"Hey guys... we need to get off. Maintenance is going to last for a while so this gives us enough time to get situated." Scarlett said with an excited expression. "What do you guys think of coming over tomorrow and by the time everyone is in the capital, I'll will have everything prepared for us to game when the server maintenance is finished?"

Everyone had almost forgotten about this idea but now that Scarlett mentioned it again, they indeed needed to think about it. Scarlett had them all agree to let her pay for it because otherwise, it would definitely take some time. Her wealth made all of them feel a little inferior at times and at this time, whe could see something about the atmosphere was off.

"What's wrong?" She asked. She likes to be direct when a problem arises.

"If possible, we can pay for our own flights. As for the VR Cabins, I feel that we should pay for them ourselves. If we are unable to pay for them with our money, then we will simply suplement you with our gold coins." Tyrant spoke sternly and everyone nodded. Scarlett, being a person with very low eq, didn't quite understand. That being said, she was a very critical thinker and could add the pieces together.

"...Alright. We will do it this way." Scarlett saw everyone smile at her and wondered why they would want to pay if they could get a trip for free. Other than shrugging her shoulders, there was nothing she could do except plan ahead and go to the airport to "clear their path" so to speak.

After talking a bit more and exchanging phone numbers, they all logged off to eat and sleep as they all had a big day tomorrow.
