Chapter 38 - 3.2 - Skanda/Light and Darkness Can Only Exist Together

"Strength limiter?" Scott asked as he inspected his body. He didn't really feel stronger. Neither did Athena or Feng Yue. Everyone looked at Scarlett for the answers.

"You should've all learned fron biology class that the brain places a limit on not only how much strength a person could use but also just how much of their brain capacity they can use as well. It is done not only to protect you but to also keep your metabolism in check."

"A person can usually use only 10% of their brain capacity. You have just broken through this limit and reach 11%. You could probably all ready feel a drastic difference between 10 and 11 percent, right?" All 3 of them nodded. They felt all of their senses were extra sensitive at the moment. Suddenly, they realized another meaning behind these words.

Reading their expressions, Scarlett revealed, "I just broke the 15% mark this morning which is how I came up with our plans for a group work out. Your body will greedily absorb what it needs when it needs to recover. It's only up to you to provide your body with nutrients. Of course, now that you have unlocked this one percent, your metabolism will also be more active. You will need a lot more sustenance to keep your body fed. The nutrient solutions in the kitchen are the ones you can drink regularly but the ones in the gym can't be consumed so easily. Don't, and I repeat, don't drink the nutrient solutions in this fridge like the ones in the kitchen." Everyone nodded.

"One last thing... don't worry if you haven't broken 11% yet. Your body and brain only need more nutrients." After saying all of this, Scarlett dismissed the Moonlight Mercenaries so they could take showers and she decided to take one herself. When she finished taking her shower, she put on a random white t-shirt and a pair of black shorts. After doing so, she went to the kitchen and fixed herself a healthy breakfast with eggs bacon and pancakes and had a side of grapes.

When she finished her breakfast, she hopped into the VR cabin and launched the game.

Logging in, she found herself back in the Divine Arena area. She could feel everything around her. Her senses had been upgraded by no small margin.

Within the crowd of pvp enthusiasts, everyone noticed who she was by her signature long flowing red hair. The only thing was... why was everyone staring her down like a pack of hungry wolves?

What she didn't know was that a bounty had been placed on her by quite a few guilds. All of their players are currently looking for her to claim the bounty and now that she has been found, they were going to announce her location to the world.

Just as they were going to however, she began to teleport out of the Divine Arena.

"Tell everyone that Bloodmoon has teleported out of the Divine Arena. Have all of our people at teleportation stations on stand by. Who ever sees her, announce it on the forums. We will come over and assist when we can." A man with a spear on his back and wearing a half skull mask on his face said as he looked at his subordinates. His subordinates suluted to him and went on their way. The spear wielding man went back to waiting on the wall. His hands were twitching as if he was eager to fight what he thought would be the key to him breaking through his bottleneck.

Unaware of her hunters, Scarlett teleported to the the capital of the Buckwheat Kingdom, Riveria. She exited the teleportation station and immediately headed off to the the forest as she needed to get her levels back up, as soon as possible.

The players following her were shocked by her speed but were prepared. They sent 2,000 players to sweep the forest for any signs of her.

While they chased her, Scarlett was testing her regular slash move against the creatures of the forest.

The number that came up would have scared everyone away from her. It even frightened Scarlett for a bit before she saw another goblin thrusting a blade at her.

She spun out the way before using her speed to appear infront of the goblin and using her hand to hand combat skills to put the goblin to death.

Just before she started killing the goblin, a scout who had stealth boosting equipment on his person walked in on her brutally punching the goblin in the chest. Her punches rained down on the poor goblin like a machine gun as they reached up to the goblin's face. The last punch sent the goblin flying, dead on arrival.

The scout began to sweat as he typed in his group chat, alerting his clanmates of her location. Not only that, he sent a video of Scarlett killing that goblin brutally.

Just as he sent it, he felt a presence in front of him. Scarlett was in front of him, her cold eyes stared into his own and she said, "How many of you are there?" This scout never imagined that Scarlett would be so terrifying up close. Her aura was completely different now that she spotted him. She felt more like a demon than another human being at the moment. And her eyes... they stared into his soul as if they were dictating his fate. All he knew was that his life was no longer in his hands.

"Two... two thousand of us..." He was sputtering like a car braking down. Scarlett almost didn't underatand him.

Suddenly, she saw the outsude of her ui turn red.

"Fuck!" Scarlett couldn't hold in her cursing as she immediately went into stealth. Two arrows whizzed by her head as she escaped.

"She's escaping!" Scarlett heard and realized that she needed to play dirty to get out of this place.

A smirk came to her face as she can finally used what she spent loads of gold on.

She jumped up into the trees after activating her wings of sylvan and flew into the sky.

"Bloodmoon, heh? You aren't the only one who can fly!" She suddenly heard the sound of the wind tearing as she rolled away from... an incoming spear?

She was a bit confused as she regained her balance and looked her enemy up and down.

It was someone she had never seen before. A man wearing a skull shaped half mask that covered his mouth and nose. On his back was a spear that was as dark as the night sky but it also had silver specks of light glowing through this sheen of black. It was a beautiful weapon. This much, she could see.

"I don't fight cowards... state your name." Her comment made his eyes twitch a but he responded, albeit, through gritted teeth. "Skanda... as in the Hindu god of war. I have come to battle you."

"You're... not from the region?" Scarlett widened her eyes as wide as she could. How could someone cross regions so early in the game? Whe could tell just from his accent. Even though his english was solid, she could hear a bit of his native accent in it.

"No... I used a lot of resources to get here. Only if I can defeat you, will it mean anything. That's enough chit-chat for now." His he took his spear off his back and suddenly got into combat stance. This revealed his name and level above him.

Skanda

Tier 1 Lvl 34

HP: 6200/6200

"Ready your blade, Bloodmoon..." He said and then began to twirl his spear around his body as he slowly approached her. His aura rose with each step and Scarlett could feel something she hadn't felt in a long time... Her heart was beating rapidly. She was... excited to fight someone. Scarlett licked her lips, and got into her combat stance.

"I will chase you back to you region if you can't give me a good fight." She said and then not even giving him a chance to respond, her speed exploded. She reach in front of his chest within a few moments.

Skanda reacted and sent his spear her way. Bloodmoon saw the spear coming at her with a swift pace but as she focused on it, everything around her seemed to slow down for a moment. The spear that was being thrust at her faster than a bullet was now slowed down to the speed of tortise.

Bloodmoon had no idea what was going on but she moved out of the way just barely enough for the spear to resume its original speed and tear the air centimeters away from her head. Skanda's eyes widened as his chest piece met Bloodmoon's short sword. The sword began to turn scarlet as she released her sword's item skill, [Crimson Annihilation].

Before he could dodge, a jet of flame entered his body as Scarlett's sword slashed across his chest piece. He was sent flying but... he never hit the ground. His ashes scattered into the air. Scarlett looked around herself but feeling like she had no time to loot Skanda's body, she immediately went into stealth and ran away. No one chased her as they were all stunned by the attack that was just launched.

"What kind of attack was that?" One of them asked.

"So the rumors are true... her loot is worth dying for."

"Who was recording?" A man who also had a skull mask asked around.

"I did." The scout from earlier said this. He had been recording from the beginning. He felt that he was lucky to live at this point.

"Upload it all over the international forums. The hunt is only beginning." The scout immediately went to the forums and before he knew, the entire video was going viral.

The man with the skull mask was only going this far because he had a skill that can see any stats that were hidden and what it revealed astonished him.

'A level 23 defeating a level 34 in one hit? The only way that someone can do such a thing is if they had a powerful weapon with a powerful item skill. What ever that short sword is... it's mine!' As he clenched his fists, he also disappeared, leaving his teammates behind.

Meanwhile, Scarlett had run in a random direction and ended up in an area that she had not been to before. For some reason, the entire area was cold and foggy.

[The darkness encroaches upon you...]

A piece of deep black text appears on her screen. She looks at it for a while before understanding exactly what it means.

The entire area around her was void of life. All was quiet around her. The eerieness unsettled Scarlett so she tried to use her light ability to light the way but...

[What's this? You discover that your light abilities are not working.]

Scarlett stops moving as she can see that the deeper she goes, the darker it gets. While she still has some light, she looks in her inventory for something to light her way. When she found it, she discovered something else in her inventory. It was a scroll. It was very old and antiquated but what startled her the most was that it was glowing intensely. Even though the light was intense, it wasn't harsh. It was gentle like a warm breeze.

Scarlett wanted to know why it was doing this so she took it out.

[Yin and Yang can only exist together.]

Another piece of text appeared on her screen, startling her.

"Yin and Yang?" Scarlett looked at the glowing scroll and the encroaching darkness around her and suddenly, an idea sprung in her mind. She looked straight ahead and then back at her scroll. She then continued forward at a greater pace.

She ran and ran for what seemed like a few hours until another message appeared.

[CREATURES OF THE DARKNESS! Defend your self!]

Suddenly, a fierce wind hit Scarlett's face as she got the message and she bent her body backwards. When she came back up, she saw... it.

Standing on a rock, a thing with horns on the side of its head looked at her as if she were it's enemy in life. It had black skin that was covered by strange red markings that ran all across its body. She looked down a bit and saw that it had its tail wrapped around the rock.

"Hu... man." It said with a ghastly voice. "Human... flesh..." Scarlett readied her weapons and decided that going on the offensive was the better plan.

She immediately charged at it but just as she was about to stab it, the thing suddenly turned into a shadow. It escaped her blade and appeared behind her but before she could turn around, it was swiping its claws at her. She could feel how fast it was and was surprised. Scarlett used her blades to parry the claws but it still took a third of her health away. She knew then that she wouldn't be able to take any hits from this creature or else she will be killed.

She started to slowly create distance from the creature and the creature noticed this. It then began using a big move.

The thing began to eerily chant something unintelligible and Scarlett saw a dark fog rising out of the ground. Her instincts immediately started warning her of danger. Scarlett saw the darkness rising and heard the eerie laugh of the creature that was slowly making its way to her. Scarlett was wondering why it was laugh but then tried to move, only to realize that she was unable to. Her eyes widened as she saw this creature get closer and closer.

As it got closer, Scarlett felt as though something was trying to break out of her. Everystep, Scarlett would feel pain in her chest. It kept hitting some kind of barrier inside of her as if it wanted to come out. As for what ever it was, she didn't know, but whether it would help or not, she had to let it out one way or another because everytime she felt it, it would take away 200 hp.

Suddenly, her chest began to radiate a blinding light that made the creature screech in pain. The light slowly became more and more intense as Scarlett then found out what was trying to come out of her. Now being aware, Scarlett was not actively trying 5o let it out and then entire area lit up with a bright white light.

In her sight, she saw if not hundreds then thousands of the same creature she had just fought, crying out and screeching in pain and terror. They rolled on the ground in agony, some were beating their faces on the ground while others went as far as to take their eyes out of their sockets.

She was honestly shocked by what she saw afterwards. A large mountain... turned around... and just looked at her... with its large eye. Suddenly, a mouth opened underneath those eyes and released a sound that made her temporarily deaf. A wave of darkness suddenly pushed towards the light coming at her and when the darkness hit her light, the light immediately collapsed. She paniced and immediately began channeling all of her mana into her golden crow flames and she swore she could hear the wave of darkness that had now almost swallowed her whole, screaming in agony as it quickly backed away.

The Mountain creature thingy also began to cry out in agony. "Inheritor of the Golden Crow's sacred flame! You dare hurt me! I will torture you for thousands of years before skinning you alive and letting the hellrats eat you alive!" It's booming voice almost gave Scarlett a concussion. She looked up at the mountain and saw that it now had a name along with some things she had never seen before.

Seeing its stats (or the lack there of) had Scarlett's head reeling.
