Chapter 32 - 2.14 Nothing Goes As Planned...

After accepting the quest, a notification came up.

[Hidden Quest: Hero of the Ancient Metropolis.]

[Objective 1: Clear out all of the robots.

Objective 2: Reach the inner area.

Objective 3: ???

Bonus: ??? ]

"Before we go, I have something for you." Scarlett turned to Tyrant and gave him the sey of armor that she had sitting in her inventory. When he saw it, his eyes opened wide. Before he could say anything, Scarlett said. "Put it on and then we are going." She looked at him meaningfully and he shut his mouth.

After he put on his armor, Scarlett led her party into the ruins.

[You have discovered the Ancient Metropolitan Ruin]

As they walked inside, they could see broken buildings and rubble all around. They carefully walked around and kept their head on a swivel. When they entered the shopping district, Scarlett signaled her party to stop.

"There are quite a few enemies in this district." Scarlett furrowed her brows while in deep thought. Suddenly, she smiled as a plan had just appeared in her mind. "Let's use the bombs."

"What do you need us to do?" Shirayuki asked.

"Just use your ice magic to slow them down." After saying this, they all proceeded forward and arrived at a building. On this building was a sign that read 'Tinkerers Association'. They walked inside and had a look around since everything there could be considered valuable.

Inside the building was all kinds of gadgets. Some were big while others were tiny. As they walked to the back of the building, they spotted a book on a shelf. It had gold detailing on it and was covered in blood. It was a bit damaged but seemed alright.

Scarlet picked the book up and looked at the title.

'Tinkerers Compendium' - Gives a player the Tinkering skill.

Her hand shook. "It's... a trade skill book and one for tinkering!" Her excitement wasn't unfounded. Seeing all of the stuff that was made in this building, she had alot of expectations. There were some guns and tiny robots on shelves.

"Trade skill?" Storm went over to her first, followed by everyone else.

"I want this book. Any objections?" Scarlett asked. She was being selfish but judging from the way the book looks, it had to be one of a kind. She could see her future character, carrying custom made rifle and ot would be herself that made it. She would have her own source of income as well. She looked at her team.

"Why not?"

"Go ahead."

"Keep it..."

.....

Scarlett stored the book into her inventory. "That book is the only thing of value inside this building for now. Let's get out and take a little stroll through the city square."

She started walking and after everyone looked at eachother, they followed her.

They had just arrived outside the city square when Scarlett suddenly stopped. She raised her hand and directed their party towards the alleyway on their left.

When they got to the alleyway, Scarlett looked around and smiled. "Perfect place to lead our prey to, right? Wide enough for use but too narrow for them to fit in."

Tyrant looked at Scarlett and suddenly imagined the sight of hundreds or thousands of giant robots trying to fit into this alleyway and felt some pity for them. He said a quick prayer and brought his hands together.

""Oi, Tyrant. You trying your hand at being a priest now?" Storm interrupted his prayer and patted him on his shoulder.

"No... I just felt like hoping that these robots would never come across Scarlett in their next lives when they respawn." Tyrant's words caught everyone's attention and they all stared at Scarlett who was in her own world but there way a devilishness in her demeanor that didn't quite fit the image of a light bearer. They could help but thank the stars that she was one of their friends.

After discussing Scarlett began to discuss her gameplan.

I will go out there and attract as many robots as possible and bring them back to our location, when they come here, use your ranged attacks on as many of them as possible to keep them aggroed and I will be throwing the bombs. Make sure you stay far enough back so you don't get killed."

Everyone nodded and backed away 25 meters and Scarlett equipped her Mask of Sylvan and immediately headed out. She looked for a high concentration of robots and headed over there with illusive movements that left a shadow of herself every now and then.

Her speed startled her teammates but they could only lament at Scarlett's ability to find opportunities. (I should say that all of these opportunities fell out of the sky.)

Scarlett found a few robots and tried to get one of them away. She took her bow out but what she didn't expect was that as soon as she began to channel her mana, the robots eyes turned red and they began to stare at her.

Her heart went into her throat and the red eyed robots suddenly roared and began to charge at her. She immediately used her Wings Of Sylvan ability from her mask and a pair of silver wings sprouted from her back, she had studied the ability before and learned that it relied on mental commands.

She immediately took into the sky high enough to barely evade their charge. She felt non existant cold sweat on her back as she knew that she had just been at the edge of her own death just then. She gulped and looked down only to see the robots looking up at her with frenzied eyes.

She opened her voice comms and said, "You guys probably heard that.

"Storm almost pissed himself when her heard that roar." Athena laughed but everyone could see her legs trembling. It was apparent that she was also frightened.

"Are you alright?" Tyrant was the only one looking out for her and she reassured him.

"I'm good but the fuckers moved a bit too fast. I drew my bow and it was as if they had been injected with stimulants. Their eyes became red and they just charged at me." Thinking of what happened earlier, she couldn't help but thank the game for giving her good luck.

"What do we do now then?" Shirayuki asked and everyone went silent for the moment.

"You guys stay in the alley. We will proceed with the plan." She cut off comms and drew her bow once more. This time, she wasn't worried and used her maximum power. The flames burst from her body and it was as if a second sun appeared in the sky. The robots under her roared in anger but were helpless.

—————————————————————————————

In another area, a monstrosity of a man was sitting in a chair, drinking a shot of liquor when he suddenly felt the temperature increase. A dazzling light suddenly made its way through his window and a small robot who was inside of the room had its eyes turn red and it immediately ran out.

The man suddenly got up and revealed his hybridized robot body. Half of his body was covered in metal and his left hand was now a mana cannon. He looked at the dazzling light and he furrowed his brows. He went to his wendow and looked at the ground only to see all of the robots heading towards it and was alarmed.

"Damned adventurer!" The man gritted his metal teeth and immediately began to walk out but before he could do so, he saw on the bigger robots head towards the light and he froze. He went back to the window, opened it, and climbed out and up to the rooftop to observe.

"My finest creation, Helios... show me your power and destroy that Damned adventurer!" He began to laugh madly as he watch on from a distance.

—————————————————————————————

Scarlett who was now in the air with her bow now had a large horde under her. Earlier, she was forced to go up higher because a larger robot had come and it was even uniquely named unlike the others.

Helios 2.17 [Great Lord] [Mutant]

Lvl. 30

HP: 250,000/250,000

The amount of HP was more than enough to deter even the most hardcore players, yet alone Bloodmoon who is a newbie.

The look in the eyes of this robot made her feel chills. She took in a deep breath and shot the arrow at it to see how much damage she did.

-Immune -Immune -Immune

"Huh?" Scarlett couldn't believe her eyes.

"Un-fucking-believable!" She had never been a dumbfounded as she has been today. She once more looked at the robot and saw that it was... laughing at her.

It dared to laugh at her?

A crazed smile appeared on her face as she spoke to her teammates on her comms.

"Hey... A lug of scrap metal just laughed at me... How should I deal with it?"

"Scarlett..." Tyrant was very concerned when he heard her. An NPC... laughing at a player. "Don't do anything..."

Before he could finish, the comms were cut off.

"Well... shit..."

—————————————————————————————

"Since you are immune to fire, what about elemental combinations?"

As she said this, she activated her armor set bonus, [Tidal Force] and tendrils came out of the ground and wrapped up her desired target.

Tss...

"Aaahhhhhhhhggg!" The sound akin to an autotunned person screaming at the top of their lungs while in agony rang out as the water sizzled on the body of the great lord boss.

Scarlett's eyes became more crazed as she activated all of her armor and weapon buff skills. She knows that doing this will make her weak temporarily but she couldn't really afford to hold back this time. At the same time she was preparing her bow for an attack that would be known in the future as The Second Sun.

[Blazing Sunray]

This attack, she attempted to infuse her light element together with her 2 flames to maximise their destructive power. Her teammates looked at the light building up in the sky and were stunned.

"Oh shit! She's going to level this place. We need to leave... now!" Tyrant was the second in command so when Scarlett was not here, he was in charge and no one dared to not do as they were command. At this point, there was no need to do this as Storm was the first to start running away. As a mage, he is very sensitive to mana fluctuations and the fluctuations he felt made his blood flow in reverse.

Everyone quickly escaped the town before the move could be fully charged. At this time, Scarlett saw Helios 2.17's eyes turn blood red and suddenly, there were wings on it. Sweat appeared on her forehead as she counted down in her mind.

4... 3...

Helios instantly sprang into the air and barreled into the air and moved towards Scarlett with the speed of gods and ghosts.

2...

Her mind was at its clearest state at the moment and she felt everything around her slow down. She could see that Helios had become enraged from the mana fluctuations but she didn't dare to stop what she started because even if she did, it would still not let her off.

1...

Helios only had 30 meters left before it could smash the annoying adventurer to pieces. It suddebly accelerated and just as it reached within 1 meter...

Twang...

The fire arrow shot into the robot with a speed faster than all of the other blazing sunray's that Scarlett has ever done. The arrow penetrated through the robot and it suddenly stopped moving... it was only a few inches from touching Scarlett's face with its claws.

Scarlett's heart was furiously pounding against her chest as she stared at the robots deep, red eyes. They were still glowing but... for some reason it was unable to move. Before she could get a better grasp of the situation, she suddenly recieved hundreds of prompts.

[System] Congratulations, Bloodmoon. You are the first to fuse 2 elememts with a 60% or better fusion rate. Reward: [Elemental Fusion Kit - Single Use], 1000 gold, 30,000 xp.

[System] You have defeated Helios 2.17 and have become the first to kill a Great Lord Ranked boss.

Reward: Title: [Kingslayer], [The Heart of Helios] - Epic material, 40,000 × 4.5x exp, 1500 gold, [The Sun's Wrath] Epic Staff Blueprint...

Not only were their prompts for killing Helios but apparently everything underneath her on the inside of the square had also parrished... well almost everything.

Her experience bar filled and refilled so fast that it made her dizzy.

Not on hers but her entire part's exp bars were filling up due to the exp share feature. Although theirs wasn't as crazy, it was still enough to stun them.

Shirayuki was shocked to her core. She was unable to form any complete sentences.

"Quick! Hide your names from the leaderboard!" Tyrant hurriedly exclaimed and everyone gauned their senses back.

"How do I do that?" Scarlett, the newbie, did not know how to do this.

"Go to your profile, press your name and got to ranking preferences. Uncheck 'Display you ranking on the leaderboards to everyone'." Scarlett quickly did this and sighed in relief.

"Where are you guys?" Scarlett asked after a pause.

"On the otherside of town. Storm saw the mana fluctuations and immediately ran away so we followed him." Tyrant replied to her and she was able to put her last worry down.

"Come to me as soon as possible. I will be weakened for the next..." She checked her status and when she saw the timer for how long she would be in this state, her lips twitched. "... 3 hours."

"3 hours... alright. We will make our way over ASAP."

"Thanks."

She quickly looked around and picked up everything of value that was on the ground and checked what level she was. She felt that her luck with her bow was very good at the moment.

After placing her free attribute points where they need to go, she was about to communicate with her team when she heard a bunch of footsteps coming her way.

She quickly went into a nearby building after she withdrew her wings and hid, not daring to comabat what ever was here.

"Boss, this is the area where that Second sun came from. What could have caused it?"

"Shimano, shut up! Our boss suspects that it is a ratlre item and not only he, but others are out here hunting for the treasure. Don't even dream about touching this item. Only our guild leader will have free reign over it."

"...That serious?" The person talking gulped nervously.

"Serious? I am talking about Legendary items. How can it not be serious? Look, if we find it, our guild leader promised a big reward to us. This is our best chance at joining the elite team for dungeons."

When Scarlett heard what they were saying, she frowned.

'Large parties are here?' She hurriedly cut her comms on and asked, "What's the situation over there right now?"

"We are being hunted down by a few parties and our names are red. We have killed at least 20 people by now and would really like to have your help right now." Storm was panicking and she could tell from how he was speaking that their situation didn't look too good at the moment.

"Hold on. I will help you guys break free." She took a glance at their heath bars on her hud and summoned her Wings of Sylvan once more to take flight and asked, "Which side of the city?"

"Northwest!" Tyrant shouted and she heard the sound of someone being sliced by a sword.

"Noted." Scarlett took into the skies and flew in the Northwest direction. Her stats were crippled by her using her stat buff abilities at the same time so she was only able to fly at 30% of her original speed but this is still faster than most players can move. She took her daggers and landed on the streets as she saw a few players walking inbthe direction she was flying in.

At this point, no matter who was in her way, she would carve a path through with their bodies. She rushed them without caring for stealth but she was able to subconsciously use her shadow dancer manual and her movements slowly became more vague. She was like a leaf in the wind. Sometimes she would drift to the left and at others, she would drift to the right.

Her unsuspecting victims could only feel something cold on their necks before they all fell to the ground at the sametime. Scarlett wasted no more time with them and continued to move through the city.

In less than half an hour, news of a ghastly figure roaming the city streets and killing players spread out to everyone. People began to cluster up in large parties and became more wary of their surroundings but it wasn't enough.

Scarlett had just killed a Berserker when she felt the her surroundings become heavier. She looked up and saw a very large group of people charging at her. She could heard someone say something and it made her furrow her brows.

"We have successfully caught Bloodmoon inside the Spatial Lock Formation. Waiting for further orders." A person walked up to a man wearing a rather decent set of gold ranked armor. It was another thief and his face was full of amusement as he stared Scarlett down.

"No need. Just wait for me to kill her and our guild can recieve a reward. I heard that she has plenty of rare loot on her body." The man licked his lips playfully and Scarlett frowned.

Scarlett quickly downed a few potions as she watched him walk over.

He used twin daggers and it seemed that these daggers were a set. Sparks of flame came off the left blade while frost spread onto the other. The rank of these weapons had to at least be Epic.

"Bloodmoon, do you dare to accept my challenge?" He pointed his left dagger at her arrogantly.

"I don't fight unnamed people." Scarlett said. Her eyes were such a deep red that they looked black. Her name now had an effect where it would drip blood onto the ground. Her voice gentle but lying underneath it was a very strong intent to slaughter.

"...Cao Ren." He then brandished his blade and rushed forward. It only took a few moments for him to reach Scarlett, surprising her. She quickly used her dagger to parry his attack and sent her other dagger towards his abdomen.

Cao Ren furrowed his brows when her felt her strength and frowned even harder when he saw a blade being sent towards his stomach. He twisted his body, evading the blade by a few centimeters and sent his foot towards Scarlett's chest. Scarlett caught his ankle and using as much strength as she could, she slammed him onto the street.

Cao Ren's head hit the pavement, stunning him. With his eyes wide open, he watched as Bloodmoon's dagger closed in on his throat and before it could get near, he suddenly dissapeared.

Scarlett's dagger carved a large slit into the street and she furrowed her brows further. She then dissapeared as well.

At this point, other people began to walk over to see the action.

"Is Cao Ren fighting someone right now?"

"Yeah! And it is another thief!"

"Not only that, he is actually losing right now."

"Who is that... Oh my god! That's Bloodmoon!"

After this was shouted out loud, everyone saw a figure trouncing over a high level character and felt their mouths go dry.

Cao Ren's stealth was not as good as Scarlett's so she was able to sneak up on him and use a quick [Stunning Blow] and followed it up with her killer combination.

By this time, Cao Ren was begging for Bloodmoon to let him off.

"...I won't do this again. This lowly one will scram if you let me go!"

After Cao Ren said this, a dagger enter his throat and was twisted.

"Let you go? Would you let me go if I were in your situation?" Scarlett smiled sinistery and dissapeared once more as she was really in a hurry.

That battle took way to long but she saw that her party was still alive but not know their exact conditions made her uneasy.

Just as she was going to go back on her path, she heard a voice coming from behind her.

"Lightbearer, don't go so soon. You scrapped my finest creation so I think you would make a fine vessel for my experiments." Scarlett felt her hairs stand on end and kept running at her maximum speed.

'Whoever you are... I don't have time to deal with you right now.'

Scarlett's wings unfurled again and she turned into a beam of silver light, leaving the npc behind to eat her dust.

Seeing the female adventurer keep on running, the figure who was speaking felt his sharp, metal teeth itch. "You damned bitch! No one ignores me without consequences!" As this was said, he gave chase, trailing her closely.
