I woke up to the alarm blaring in my ears. It was morning already? I thought trying to fall back asleep. I knew that I had to get up so show about I just open my eyes for now? Not wanting to sit up I look at my ceiling. Soon the alarm was starting to bug me, I couldn't think with that thing on. Hitting snooze I sat up not ready to get out of bed yet.
A yawn escapes my mouth, as if to say go back to bed. I rub my eyes then again I look around my surroundings. Then Getting the strength to stand up I walk on over to my dresser and open it. The clothes I which it contains are not folded in any sort of way. I grab a red shirt, black pants, black socks and converse. Today is just going to be another normal day, is what I keep trying to tell myself. I know I'm not supposed to worry, And I have done this a thousand times before.
So why worry about this now? Every time this has gone smoothly and the people always end up being amazing at what they can do. I grabbed my knife holders and opened my door to the blank white hallway.(idk what the knife holders are really called, hope I'm right)
I stayed there for a second waiting for something bad to happen, but it never did. I walked down the small but long blank hallway until I reached the wooden door.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, turning around I saw Winter, in a white button-down shirt with a black pencil skirt and a green blazer. She was also wearing black heel boats, none of her outfit matched with her personality or her normal style. I guess she saw me looking her up and down,
"This is Phantom's doing, this is like the fifth time that he changed the girls uniform," she said with frustration in her voice.
She looked me up and down seeing my gray sweatshirt, dark pants, and brown boots.
"So it's one of those days huh?" She asked, there was sympathy in her voice.
Her mood changed so fast, there was a sad look on her face.
"No worries I'll be okay, remember Phantom will follow us," I said trying not to make her worry.
She smiled and we both walked through the door, down the stairs. I stood at both of the stairs looking out into the coffee shop. Seeing everyone working and having a good time, laughing even. It's been so long since I've seen everyone happy or even pretending to be. This scene could bring a person to tears.
I stood there watching them being like family to one another. Dawn, Fierin, Riez, Dice, Lotus, Nemu and Phantom. Friends but more, family. It was like a scene from a movie, Dice taking orders and giving them to Lotus who poured the coffee. With Dawn behind he counter making bread and cookies, with Reiz.
While Fierin, Phantom and Nemu worked taking the orders from the customers. With others worked in the kitchen or had other jobs. The image faded away like a memory then all the colors from the world disappeared. It was just the nine of us here now and not everyone could keep up with the cooking so we switched from a diner to a coffee shop. Winter put her hand on my shoulder and sighed.
"Well they're gonna notice you sometime today and give you the pity looks," she said.
It was too late, Reiz noticed me and gave a small smile. Then everyone turned towards me. Their faces went from upbeat to plain white.
"Relax guys, she's done this thousand of times before," Winter explained coming up behind me and putting a hand on my shoulder.
I smiled to lighten the mood, saying something would just make them worry more. The person who looked the most depressed about my assignment was Phantom. He was always worried when someone had these assignments. He looked even more worried now.
Cause he knew that everything was riding on this one assignment. If I couldn't do it then our organization would be forever ruined. Everyone knew this too, and as our leader Phantom was going to be the hardest on me about this. Nemu turned the sign from closed to open and we waited.
Sitting down at a table, Fierin took my order. Moving his fiery red hair out of the way of his eyes to see me.
"How are you doing Yuki?" He asked, leaning over the table.
"Just a Little nervous," I answered, trying not to look him in his dark red eyes.
Phantom then came over and put his hand on Fierin's shoulder.
"Leave the girl alone she's done this before," he said with a smile.
Fierin got up with frustration and walked to greet a few new people coming through the door.
"No pressure or anything but remembers this is a big deal for The Dragons. If you don't get this assignment done, it's basically over." He said I know that he's not trying to be mean.
It's true though if I mess up then it's over for our organization. Phantom then looked at the door to see which people were coming through. He then stood up,
"What would you like today ma'am?" He asked as a girl with neon blue hair walked in through the door.
Cynthia, my assignment.
