I didn't know how to react, I mean she shouldn't know that name. It meant she knew it was a test, and that she knew of me.
"Oops...I didn't mean to say that, but while the secret is out let's play for real." Cynthia said throwing the dagger into the sunset.
We've been standing here for so long that the sun started to set and I didn't even realize it, the others will start to worry soon. Cynthia spoke some magic words and ice began to form in a long bow like figure in her hand. When it was done forming the ice broke and a scythe was in it's place. It was large bigger then Cynthia, she threw it onto her shoulder like it was nothing.
"Listen kid, this will be more fun if you run so why don't you get started," she sneered at the thought.
I kept my gun out at my side waiting for her to make a move. She moved towards me and swung her scythe trying to slash through me. I dodge the attack and drew my gun to my eye level, and started to shoot a few bullets at her.
"I forgot to introduce myself." She said blocking the bullets with the scythe, "I'm known as Blue Quickmoon! Or just Quickmoon if you're about to die."
She charged me with her weapon, while stumbling back from the blow I felt as if I couldn't move. The Quickmoons are the leaders of the League of Killers, they're the family who created the League. This could only mean one thing, that they want revenge for ruining their reputation with the other smaller Leagues.
"Alright, you held out long enough, I'm bored." Cynthia smiled, "Now let's get crazy, I'm done holding back it just isn't fun."
Her eyes got bigger and her pupils widened, and her fighting style changed. She wasn't messing around like just like she said she was. Cynthia was more tense now and used more effort then before, I could tell that this was her best. My gun ran out of bullets, I looked around for a place I could go to reload. Cynthia knew and took a deep swipe at my waist, which hit me and I yelped. Pain shot throughout my body, it felt like she hit something important. I kept looking noticing that the sun was setting.
Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a gate, it was black as night and it was my only chance. She had me in a tight space with no cover. She swung her scythe again making my wound deeper, so deep that the blade got stuck. She threw me back and forth to get me off of the scythe. I was thrown against the wall, blood splattered everywhere. I could still feel my legs which meant I could still get away.
"Clear something up for me before you go dying." She put her foot on my waist and pushed down, " I heard that you had a brother who died. Well if he's so dead then why was he seen by some of my scouts?"
The last line she said was a lie, I saw him die in front of my on eyes. Thinking straight was out of the question now, my waist was hurting like hell now and I couldn't take it. I tried to pick myself up but my legs were to weak and blood was now coming out of my ears and mouth. I smiled as she raised her weapon ready to put me down. I choose my last words carefully.
"Connect the dots, sweetheart," I said with a smile.
This was how I was going to die and I was happy with it. Years and years of working for the League of Killers and then they turn around and start doing science experiments on our friends. In the end you can't really trust anybody who knew? Cynthia screamed in anger at my answer and threw her scythe down at me, it hit my head and everything was going dark. I was ready to die and I actually even wanting it, my eyes wanted to stay closed but I refused. I wanted to burn her imagine into my eyes to remember the _____ who caught me. I would say the scene of me looking up at her while I was dying would be traumatizing for her but, no if she is really Quickmoon then she loved what I was trying to do. I saw her pick up her scythe again and was ready to strike the final blow.
"Goodbye Dark Knight," she said swinging her blade towards me.
I heard metal clash against metal, looking up I saw three people standing in front of me. Then it was if someone had turned off a light switch everything went into total darkness.
