Before leaving for Buck-wood valley, I made sure that my gear is prepared.
Limiter bracelet? Check!
Light armour? Check!
Steel chainmail? Check!
Arrow quiver and arrows? Check!
Silent [Bow]? Check!
Medium length sword? Check!
Warrior's knife? Check!
Crossbow? Check!
I made sure to double-check my potions, rations and tools.
Yup, I'm ready.
I leave for Buck-wood valley. After a combination of running, climbing and walking I reached Buck-wood valley after one and a half hour.
Kobolds usually love to occupy caves and such places.
So that makes my search easier.
There is a tall mountain here. After a lot of effort, I climbed the mountain. Now, I can get a perfect sense of the area. You could call it a synchronization point, maybe?
From the mountain top, I quickly locate the cave the Kobold's are in. there are 4 guards in front of the cave guarding the entrance.
Even if I use a stealth skill to kill them it won't work. While stealth hides one's presence it doesn't hide the user's smell. Kobold's have an extremely potent nose which helps them smell out invisible foes.
I take a position, ready my bow to shoot the arrow in the right moment.
[Eye of Spettatore] [Skill activated]
My left eye pupil turns blood red immediately.
Upon activation, my vision is enhanced by several times. The environment around me turns a little slow. I can clearly see them, their blind spots, their weakness and their pulse.
'It would've been better if I had my sniper rifle.'
I mutter under my breath.
Two of the four kobolds are going back into the cave. Others will come to take their places, probably.
I activate my Sharpshooter skill.
As the first arrow leaves my bow I immediately take a second arrow and shoot it.
The first arrow pierced the first Kobold's heart while the second arrow killed the other Kobold by headshot.
Silent kills, others in the cave haven't been alerted.
Kill count: 2
I come down the mountain quickly and hide the corpses of the two Kobolds I killed in the nearby bushes.
Arrows won't work in the cave. So I take up my sword in one hand the crossbow in other.
Maybe it was my smell, 5 Kobolds come at my way. I sue the crossbow to shoot and kill 3 of them while the next two simultaneously attacks me from both sides.
I dodge right and use my sword to parry the attack coming from the right. After parrying, my sword cuts into the torso of the Kobold in left of me and I use my crossbow to kill the stunned one in front of me.
Kill count: 7
I advance reaching deep into the cave. The road before me turns into a fork. I can either go left or right.
But seeing the little light coming from the left side. I decide to advance to the right.
I didn't need to go long before I find a big room within the cave. Loitered with all sorts of junk and excretions.
At the corner of the room, I find a young woman tied up. Her body cut and bloody all over.
I approached her, only to see a more gruesome sight that was hidden by the darkness of the cave.
Her legs mangled and her arms twisted. She was still breathing in a feeble way. But seeing the depth of her wounds even if I took her out to heal her, she won't live. Living is only painful for her.
'Doesn't seem like a monster would do that. These wounds are clearly inflicted upon her by a human,' I silently mutter.
I ask her silently.
'Do you want to end this misery?'
Her eyes open, hope comes to her from the depths of despair.
'If you want to live then nod.'
With all her strength she nods barely.
'I see.'
I take out a vial of reddish liquid and gently pour it down her throat. A golden light envelops her whole body, curing the shallow wounds and helping her to recover her life force.
I cast sleeping magic on her and erect a strong barrier which will hold out physical and magical attacks so that she can be safe while I finish my job.
I return to the fork feeling anger beyond anything I ever felt.
All I need now is to kill.
