Chapter 4 - Employees

Today I had the most wonderful experience, I met the son of Marquis Szera, he was truly a handsome man just as the rumours said to be.

The Marquises of the country are known to be protectors of the country and from what I can glean Rude Szera was a Sorcerer. A magician with powerful inborn ability to manipulate mana.

By the age of 3 he was able to see mana and when he was 5 he had already learned how to use a simple fireball spell by himself, without any knowledge beforehand.

He had accomplished many things in his life time and was soon known by his epithet 'The Genius Spellcaster.'

His knowledge in magic was vast but superficial. Talent was not everything but at the same time it was. His name had bought him great fame and soon reached the ears of many grand mages.

In the end he was taken in by a Wizard from the royal court. He was the person that was most admired in the city, commoners and nobles alike.

And who wouldn't? He was tall, well built, skin soft and smooth, short eyelashes, medium high brows, warm hazel eyes, dimpled cheeks, neatly combed jet black hair.

His appearance was top notch and his Job as a Sorcerer was nothing to scoff at. Rude has been however, a cold man, uninterested in women and fame.

There had been rumours of him being in love, but they were just rumours and were not deemed as facts.

I dreamed of being with a man like him, however with my looks there was no choice but to have a political marriage rather than one of true love.

Oily skin, long lashes, disproportionate brows, unkempt long brunette hair, underdeveloped breasts, green eyes, unfit body.

All of these features made me the laughingstock at parties and the most hated family member.

I was known as the 'fat and ugly' girl. It had been three years since my debutante and I had not changed a bit.

The only person who has not made fun of me was Rude. It was surprising, but I realised he might just be bored to the point of wanting to play around.

Considering my reputation I decided to cut myself off from aristocracy. I was going to become an adventurer from now on.

But just as I was preparing myself, a voice called out to me. An enchanting song that accompanied it. My body moved forward, attracted to the source.

I was bewitched by it, something was pulling me, it was magnetic, I looked to the window unsure of where I was I headed.

Pushing it open I realised that I felt the urge to jump, my mind was screaming internally unable to stop.

I stepped on the edge and dived right down, as I was falling a gentle pressure cushioned underneath me, softening the impact of my landing.

I dusted myself looking side to side before going to the front gates. I nodded towards the guards, they nodded back understanding my intentions.

I walked and walked, commoners and nobles staring at the ever growing crowd around me. Girls and boys my age had a blank face unable to speak, walking slowly towards something.

I glanced around and saw a glimpse of familiar faces. They were being called out just like me. I wondered what had come over us.

The parents of these children tried to stop us by force but an invisible wall protected us from harm.

Shouts and cries of worry and anger spread through the city as twenty or more children marched to the eerie forest.

Silence loomed over us as we were shrouded by fog disappearing from sight. Walking after what seemed like days we stopped before a small cottage with a big sign over it.

The source of those wretched voices were here, the door opened revealing a small creature.

My anger soared as soon as I saw the perpetrator. Fury lit in my heart, I was about to rip this cute critter apart!

....

So many! Aren't they thirteen? My memory was jumbled but I soon remembered that nobles could be recognised just by their expensive clothes or magic.

My gaze oversaw them with a cold stare. They were nobles alright. I smiled pressing a button on my choker. "I welcome you children to my humble store. I apologise for the inconveniences, but I have good intentions so no need to be so furious."

My voice was distorted changing from time to time, I knew they were afraid, furious, interested and all of the above at the same time.

They wondered who I was, what I wanted from them, and why I was able to do all this. I could tell them the truth, but that was no fun at all.

"Do not fret I am Cotton, I grant wishes in exchange for something else." As of now I was a small bipedal sheep with small golden curled horns, red eyes and a golden bracelet with a shield shaped ruby embedded on it right on my left arm.

I had an idea to be a basic carbon copy of the Incubator with many features that do not resemble it at all.

I do however have the power to grant wishes, however that is only due to my bracelet. My true form was of a jinn also known as a genie.

The bracelet was just a different form of a lamp. As with many jinn's I am able to set the rules of my wishes.

"First rule, I will not resurrect the dead. I could if I wanted to however I do not think I'd want to.

Second, the wish must be specific otherwise I wouldn't be able to give exactly what you want.

Third but foremost the greater the wish the greater the price. The price is decided by me of course." I explained my rules to them, which made them a little apprehensive, but I did not care. As long as I had results.

"So who's up first?" I smiled sweetly, a girl raised their hand. She was volunteering herself to see how it goes, she was putting her all into this.

"You can grant any wish right?" I nodded, her mood rose. "Then I wish for wealth, lots of money and valuable things." She gulped wondering if it was a bad thing.

I jumped right in front of her scaring her. "Are you sure about this wish?" She nodded reluctantly. "Then come closer." She kneeled down on her knees. Closing her eyes I touched her forehead, she gasped as a bright light emitted from her forehead.

I pulled something out of her, it condensed into a small orb. "Done, I have given you the ability of Midas Touch. Anything you wish to transform shall turn to gold. However in exchange for wealth I had taken away a good chunk of your soul."

The others gasped wondering if this was worth it, the girl with Midas Curse nodded, she somehow knew that this would happen.

I waved my hands and she disappeared in a puff of smoke. The actual truth of her powers came from the Gold Gold Fruit since it was easier to acquire, however I did take a piece of her soul.

This time a boy came to me. "I wish for power! I want to be a great Wizard!" This wish was much more simpler as all I needed to do was modify his body to handle more mana.

A few more came by and I had gained many benefits such as souls, blood, magic, spells and much more.

The hardest wish to grant so far was this. "I wish to become a monster." I realised that his wish to become a monster was due to him being distrusting of humans.

I had him fall asleep and put him inside the cottage for later. There were only two left. One handsome the other was beautiful if it weren't for her being fat.

The girl walked together with the boy, she spoke, her wish a little strange. "I wish to stay with you." I was shocked and had her explain.

"Forgive me, I am Lydia Forst, daughter of Baron and Baroness Forst." She was very polite I'll give her that much.

As for the boy. "I am Rude Szera, The Genius Spellcaster." I arched my brows unsure of what to say.

"Oi, little boy what is your wish?" I pointed to Rude, who, like his name came off rude. "Me? I'm the same as her, although I want to learn more about your race." I sighed and clapped my hands.

In a puff of smoke my true form appeared. They were surprised but I ignored it. "Come with me, to my store."

The space shifted as the store changed locations, they were now in the Village Forest. I now had loyal employees in my hands.

I just hope that they are obedient.
