Chapter 7 - The Forsaken

S.Y. 641 Muro 14 1:32 L.Q. - Mine City Gates

"This is much worse than he said it would be."

[Twilight, talking to Temti]

"Yeah, the silence is deafening. They took anyone who wasn't willing to cooperate with the Mines."

[Undercover Agent, emerging from the shadows]

"Dear Elopiah, where the heck did you come from?"

[Temti]

"Do not worry about that. Are you two the only ones sent from Areon Village? By the King and Queen?"

[Undercover Agent]

"Well we were sent by Anita. Does she count, she was the one who was in charge when we left?"

[Twilight]

"So that means we were too late…"

[Undercover Agent, worried]

"So if you can't tell us who you are, at least tell me what you mean by Mines and why you came out of the shadows."

[Twilight]

"Yes, I'm actually the last villager not taken captive, I've been hiding out up here in secret."

[Undercover Agent, slowly removing his hood]

"Underneath the town, is a mine for Mining Plants. I'm guessing you've seen the one Anita has."

[Undercover Agent]

"Yes, what's so special about them anyway."

[Temti]

"Mining Plants are the only way for many of the different nations to create the various armors needed to supply an uprising. The Chief of Mine City had been secretly helping import them to various rebel groups. Without them, the Cult wins."

[Undercover Agent]

"So how do I get to the Chief and the rest of the people then."

[Twilight]

"It won't be easy...but there is a way to make it happen."

[Undercover Agent]

He then told me how to get in contact with the people within the mines. He instructed me to head deeper into the city, there I could find a secret passageway to the mines. The passageway was located near the center of the town. Once I found it I headed down these mysterious tunnels, full of these creatures, in which I tried my best to avoid. Eventually, I came to find myself in this intricate system of homes along the walls of the mines. We arrived in this small town-like area and were greeted by many concerned faces.

"I am looking for the Chief of Mine City."

[Twilight]

"And why should we help you strangers find our Chief?"

[Miner 1, stepping out of the crowd]

"I can't make any promises but if you help me, then I can try and get rid of your Cult situation."

[Twilight]

"What makes you think you're strong enough to do something like that?"

[Miner 2, stepping out of the crowd]

"Excuse me, WE'RE strong enough, we already got rid of the Cult in Areon Village"

[Temti, in a cocky tone]

"That has to be a lie, there's no way the two..."

[Miner 1]

"What is going on out here?"

[Miner 4]

"Uhh Chief, don't bother, we can handle it."

[Random Miner 3, stepping out of Miner 4 way]

"Handle what, tell me what Is happening?"

[Chief]

"Oh so you're the Chief."

[Twilight, stepping past the other Miners]

"If that's the case you're the man we came to see. We were sent by Anita."

[Twilight]

"Anita you say, and can you prove to me that what you say is true?"

[Chief]

[Twilight shows the letter to Chief]

"Well it looks like everything checks out, so let me formally introduce myself to you kid. The name's Deago."

[Deago]

After the introductions, I brought Deago up to speed on the situation back in Areon village. He didn't seem too surprised about learning it, since it was similar to Mine City. It turns out Deago is not the original Chief, just like Anita his parents were the first the Cult got rid of to claim power. Since we had taken one of the secret entrances we didn't see this but the city is built above a creator. The mine tunnels were a system around the walls leading down to the bottom. They sent himself and the all capable citizens deep into the mine to work, Deago told me. While the others are being monitored somewhere else, unknown to them.

"So you and your people here should get out first."

[Twilight]

"No way we will not abandon our families, we don't know you."

[Miner 1]

"How can we leave this all to you?"

[Miner 3]

"But we can't defeat them either way, should we risk all our lives"

[Miner 2]

"Just because you don't have anyone down there..."

[Miner 1, grabbing Miner 2 in frustration]

"Calm down the two of you. Nothing good will come out of this if we begin to fight amongst ourselves."

[Deago]

"Well we can't take you all with us anyway, we'd be spotted in an instant."

[Temti]

"You won't be taking all of us, Just me."

[Deago]

"Chief, are you sure?"

[Miner 3]

"Yes, they can't go alone, they do not understand the tunnels. Also, I can't risk anyone else getting hurt."

[Deago]

"Then I will join you too!"

[Miner 3]

"No, Jihon, my brother, take everyone here above to safety. Wait near the secret entrance in the Office. We will get everyone else there. So I need you to be ready when we do."

[Deago]

"Okay Chief, I still do not like this but if you are sure, we will trust you."

[Jihon, a little worried]

Once we got everyone back up the secret entrance I came in from, Temti, Deago, and I formulated a plan to save everyone in the city. This involved a few initial steps, first, we had to close off the actual entrance into the Mines. After that, we had to rob the guards of their weapons, to supply our troops. Lastly, we then caused a commotion in the hostels, to attract our opponents' attention for an ambush.

"It seems to have worked. I can hear them coming."

[Deago]

"How many of them are there?"

[Twilight]

"When they first took over there were maybe 20 of them. But who knows what's changed."

[Deago]

"Quite, here they come."

[Temti]

When the Cult members arrived we were hiding. Once they were all in we began our attack, each taking a few out in the commotion. Though we didn't defeat them all, we did bring down the numbers. We then let Deago split off to rescue the rest of the people that were being held. While Temti and I let ourselves be chased. We needed to go up in the tunnels and descend through all the different floors of the Mines. Of course, we were still fighting the Cult members that chased us. It wasn't easy since the tunnels seemed to get darker as we went further in as if no one had been in these parts for years. We then began to notice the landscape change, and become more like a building. We even passed this beautiful wall, it had these markings all over. I wasn't sure what they were but somehow they looked familiar. Something I felt Mom might have shown me years ago. By the time we made it to the bottom, we had defeated all our pursuers. Since we were now at a clearing we believed we weren't alone. That was until we began to hear the sound of voices in the distance. It seemed that ahead of us was the entrance to the building we seemed to be in. And not just that but it seemed that more Cult members were already down here. One of them looked a bit familiar as well, but they seemed to be injured so I wasn't fully sure.

"So I think we found it, sir."

[Cult Member 1, talking over something like a Lightsponder]

"Yes in just a bit we should be in, correct."

[Cult Member 2, addressing Cult Member 3]

"Yes Sir, just a little longer."

[Cult Member 3]

[Temti knocks over a rock]

"Who's there, come out now."

[Cult Member 1, as the others go into high alert]

"Shit do you think they noticed us?"

[Temti]

"Yes, we did. I can hear you from here as well."

[Cult Member 1, speaking towards Twilight direction]

"I guess we have no choice."

[Twilight, as Temti and himself, step out into the light]

"Tsh you again, are you following me or something?"

[Injured Hooded Stranger]

"If by following you, you mean trying to stop you, then yes."

[Twilight]

"Stop me? Stop...Me? You think you can defeat me just because you got lucky in Areon Village ."

[Injured Hooded Stranger]

"Th...That wasn't luck."

[Temti]

"Sorry, the 'Will of the Gods'. Anyway, I have a job to do. So you can either leave now or...well die."

[Injured Hooded Stranger]
