"You are right, I'm still enjoying the time with my soon to be ex-husband. But anyways, is my sister inside?" She asked.
"Yes, Madam has arrived."
"Huh? How? I headed here first…" Caroline looked at him with a stunned expression.
"Oh, it's probably because Madam loves driving fast and Miss Caroline's driving skills suck. You always drive like a snail." Ralf gave her a 'bright' smile.
"Ugh, you never miss a chance to mock me."
"Miss Caroline, It's only obvious that I still hold a grudge against you." Ralf smiled 'sweetly' once again.
"Come on! I didn't know she was my sister then, and it's in the past. I have changed!" Caroline crossed her arms, with the intention to win this argument.
"No matter what you say, it doesn't change the fact that you were part of Madam's pain." Ralf countered with an evil glint in his eyes.
"Fine, fine you win." She glared at him. "Aren't you supposed to serve both of us! We are both sisters!"
"No. Every bodyguard/butler/loyal servant in my family chooses only one person to serve from your family. It's part of the deal my ancestors made when your ancestors saved us. And….you are a halfblood…." Ralf smirked.
"Agh…." Caroline held her heart dramatically, feeling as if she had been shot by an arrow. "You win...Ralf...you win." She blinked and walked right inside.
"Damn him! Humph!"
"I heard that." Ralf commented and he closed the door shut, ready to patiently wait outside.
"Well, RALF. I CAN COME INSIDE AND YOU CAN'T! So guess what I WIN!!!" Caroline yelled.
"That's only because you are STILL useful to Madam." Ralf smiled 'sweetly' again, opening the door and letting someone else in.
Angel sighed when he stepped inside. "Stop wasting your time!" He flicked Caroline's forehead, already fed up with the usual arguments between the two.
He had been aware of Adriana and the twins for a while now. He had not said anything to Noah because he felt guilty. He had indeed taken part in the past and wanted to make up for his mistakes. Adriana might say she forgives him and trusts him enough to let him know about the twins but, he still couldn't forgive himself.
"Tsk." Caroline stumped her feet and and finally took the time to look at the view in front of her.
The terrace always takes her breath away. It gives such a beautiful view of the city beneath them. She looked at the person standing at the top looking down with a drink in her hands.
"Orange juice? I thought you hated it." Caroline remarked and she took a seat on the sofa.
Adriana turned around and shrugged. "James, hates it too but since I encouraged him to drink it I can't be a hypocrite…" She answered.
Angel walked towards a small bar placed in a corner and he poured himself a drink. "Why the unexpected meeting? Did something happen?" He asked.
"Hmm, a few things happened actually. Let's wait for Olivia since Simon said he can't come." Adriana told him.
"Oh, is it because he is still on that mission of his, I thought he arrived 3 days ago. But oh well, it's not like he ever tells anyone anything. Even Noah doesn't know where he is most of the time." Angel took a sip of his drink and sat on the sofa in front of Caroline.
"About what Ralf said, you won't get rid of me once I stop being useful to you right?...." Caroline asked with a pout on her lips.
Angel and Adriana faced each other.
"..."
"^_^" Adriana smiled, "I might." She teased.
"Huh! I'm your sister, you can't do that to your own blood." She gasped completely deceived by Adriana's words. "Half-sister...and yes I can." Adriana corrected her and took a seat as well.
"That- All of you are determined to bully me huh?" She crossed her arms and decided to wait for Olivia to arrive. After all, she is the only one who is always in the mood to chat with her.
"You made a few changes to the board." Olivia commented as soon as he entered the place. Ralf closed the door from behind her.
She had her short, curly black hair with a few strands of blue, purple and green. Her lipstick was black as usual, black leather jacket and black ripped jeans. Holding a helmet in her hands, her eyes akin to that of eagle stuck to the chess board on the table in the middle of the sofa surrounding it.
She placed her helmet aside and sat beside Caroline.
"I did." Adriana admitted looking at the new piece added. Angel curiously leaned over and picked it up. He turned it around and read the name in the bottom. "Mrs.Preston, hoho what did you do."
"I made a change of plans. I was going to leave her untouched but when I saw her I got angry." She admitted.
The others flinched. Just because she was angry? Damn, to make a decision like that.
"That's not important though, right now we have a little problem on our hands."
Adriana looked around to see their expressions, surely they were both thinking of the same thing.
She understood that well. These three are only a few of her pawns. The first pawn she took was Bryan, the next was Caroline, Angel followed after and then a few more including Olivia.
All these people were nicely controlled by Briana but what did she do? She put them in their place and brought them to her side.
Though they know of their role in the past and their new role in her revenge they aren't fully aware of what happened back then.
Not that it was something they had the bravery to ask about. None of them were brave enough….
"As long as Aria and James are safe…." Angel gulped.
"No, I know they will be safe but I'm afraid Briana will definitely approach this person again. What will I do then? I don't plan on bringing them to my side. It's just not in what I had planned…" Adriana sighed looking at the chessboard.
She moved the pieces around but none of her moves satisfied her so she put them back to their previous positions.
It was a bit terrifying for the people in the same room as her. Knowing that they were in that board sent shivers down their spines. Adriana would move their pieces around the board but they could never know what a move meant, what they would have to do.
But how could they quit? If they were to quit they would admit to becoming her enemy and they would surely go down just like all her other enemies.
They could have chosen to not involve themselves and they would have just become mere specters, but it was them who agreed to help her. They willingly chose it despite Adriana's warnings.
They did her wrong in the past and this was the way they would repay her.
Adriana looked at them and sighed. Do they still feel pressured and guilty?
It's not easy to break free from people's manipulation. She was the perfect example of that. It literally took her a death experience, to finally break free.
She didn't blame them. If only she were a little brighter back then nothing would have gone down the way it did.
At first she didn't want to reveal James and Aria to them but they could help her protect her kids if anything goes wrong in the future.
She always needed to have a backup plan. And despite being confident in her scheme to bring her enemy down, she still wanted to be cautious.
