"Ay, he's so annoying! How dare he reject his sister's call humph!" Aria crossed her arms glaring at the laptop in front of her.
Adriana chuckled. "It was probably an accident…...oh look he's calling back."
"Humph!" Aria straight up answered her brother and she smirked.
"Hi-"
BEEP
She hung up on him as her little revenge.
Adriana shook her head. "Don't be angry at your brother. I know you miss him but he couldn't come with us."
"But ma…." Aria bit her lip. "He has to pay for all the missed night time stories. He promised he would tell me a story every night but now he has missed so many! 5...7...9" She started counting the days with her fingers.
Adriana kissed her forehead, now she was feeling guilty. "Baby, don't worry you will see him soon I promise." She assured her remembering what she had discussed with the others earlier. She had the perfect excuse to return to Paris for a few days.
Not only would she return to visit her son but she would also complete another step to her plan.
"Mommy...please make it soon. I do like uncle Noah and New York but I miss brother…" She admitted with tears in her eyes.
Adriana who just answered the phone call held onto her laughter.
"Cough* cough*" James looked away from the screen, his cheeks turning red and his heart racing. Aria's eyes widened and she immediately wiped her tears away. She blushed and looked away. "Humph!"
'My sister misses me." James thought. Seeing her pouty lips made him want to pinch both his cheeks and tease her.
"Pfft."
"You miss your sister to don't you James?" Adriana grinned when he nodded his head shyly. Aria hugged her mother and buried her face on her shoulder.
She was being shy of course. Neither her or James have been open about their love for each other. Now that the twins have been separated for more than just a few hours they were missing each other badly.
"And then I drew a unicorn in his office….Mommy agreed that I can visit uncle Noah if I go to school and do my homework! I will finish the school program quickly! Since I can finish early if I get all good grades I'm going to get 100 in everything!" Aria explained all the exciting stories she experienced and all about her summer program at school.
Adriana sighed. She did say no at first but Aria kept begging that she wanted to visit her uncle Noah. They made a deal that if she does go to school and promises to behave she can visit her uncle Noah.
Hearing his sister's stories James was gloomier then he was before. Now he understood why his mother didn't bring him along. He looks just like his father. The only theory he could come up with was the obvious; his mother is afraid their father will recognize him as his son since they look so much alike.
Now, he wished he had gotten more of his mother's features like Aria did. He was quite jealous really. He felt it was unfair. He had wished to see his father for so long and now he has missed the chance just because of how he looks.
As soon as he found out he ran to Bryan and asked him to call his mother. He wanted to tell Adriana that he knew the truth and that he wanted to see his father, or maybe just an explanation. He decided against it after giving it some thought. If his mother knows how he feels she will be sad.
He doesn't know the reason why his mother is keeping them a secret from their father so he had to be patient. He figured it would be best to hide what he knows. Or maybe wait for the right timing? If there is something he knows for sure, it's that he doesn't want to wait forever. At some point, he has to meet his father.
Even if he has to wait till he is an adult!
He was very determined on it.
After chatting with Aria, his mother asked her to go shower and get ready for bed. They talked for over an hour and Aria ate the pancakes while they talked.
It was currently 7 pm and it was 1 am where he was. If he had not insisted on calling his mother then nobody would have let him stay up so late.
"Baby, are you okay?" Adriana asked.
"Yeah, I'm just a bit tired…" He lied.
"Okay, you should sleep. Next time call me at a different time. I don't want you staying up so late." Adriana told him with a warm smile.
"Yes, mommy...I miss you."
"I miss you too baby. I will see you soon...I promise."
"How long will I wait?" James asked hesitant to show his nervousness over the matter. Adriana felt a sting in her heart.
God, she wanted to appear right next to him and give him a tight hug. If only she could teleport there.
It was so hard being away from her kid.
"I'm not sure yet. Just a few more days. I promise I will make it as quick as I can. As soon as I finish handling the deal with LABELS I will leave the rest to my team and go home." She explained.
"Okay, I will wait!" James smiled brightly to hide his sadness. Though Adriana felt something was odd she bid him goodbye. She knew James would not answer her anyway.
"Take him to bed for me please." She told Crysty.
Crysty nodded and she lifted James off the chair and carried him to his bedroom. Meanwhile, Bryan stayed to hear what she wanted to say.
"Did something happen over there? Anything out of the normal?" She asked. "Nope, why do you ask?" Bryan replied.
"Hmm, keep a close watch on James and make sure he isn't lonely. I will try to contact you guys often. Sigh* I hate being away like this."
"I know you do. But don't worry I can handle everything in your place!" Bryan winked. "Hmmm."
"Mommy I'm done!" Aria yelled.
"Okay, I left your pj's in the bed and changed into them!" Adriana yelled back.
"Okay, thank you, mommy!"
"Your welcome."
Adriana turned back to Bryan. "Did Olivia send you the report?" She asked. "Yes, their activity is quite irregular. Usually they work extremely organized, I'm guessing they either have something up or there is some sort of conflict between their organization." He responded.
"It's most likely the ladder. Anyway, just keep a close eye on them. I'm going to finish up the things with LABELS and I'm off. I'm thinking of having Aria in a summer program for a week, and then bring her back to Paris. She will stay with James and then I'll come back." She explained.
"Wait, you are going to leave them both here in Paris?" He asked in surprise. "Of course. Paris is way safer than New York. I have too many enemies here. In Paris, I can be sure they will be safer."
