Chapter 2 - Letter from the Khan to the Ceasar.

Greetings to the King of the Romans

In light of my general's defeat in the early spring I officially send a letter of apology. While he was completing his task to punish cities whom did not submit, he nevertheless acted rashly when he sacked your cities.

I am still pleased that you have accepted my rulership as that greater than that of yours, and the manner with which you dealt with my general shows how great in number your soldiers are.

What I am unpleases with is your expansion into Cuman lands. While these tribes are within lands that submitted to your rule, and thus to mine, this was done after defying my generals.

But in light of the defeat and the vast armies in your possession, and that the cuman sent their horses and swords as tribute for their lives, no action will be taken.

I also send thanks for the prince that you delivered unto me. While he is a great warrior, worthy of my respect, he nevertheless acted against me and has rejected all boons granted to him.

Also. Concerning your request to expand southwards, I will send my son and many warriors to lead the invasion. According to those in my service that has knowledge of your history, these were once your lands. Whether these lands will be put under your leadership or that of someone of my choosing remains to be determined. I will give you a answer in due time.

In return for this I wish that the "Imperial Patriarch" be in attendance in my court.
