Chapter 3 - Letter to the Yaun Emperor

Greeting to the Emperor

I, Caesar Titus IV, write to you about the call for aid you claim Rome owes you.

Rome does not owe you any loyalty. Our loyalty, is to the Khan residing in Karakorum. As you are not the Khan of that city, and you do not hold court there, we owe you no loyalty.

And what loyalty are we to give to you. When the Mamaluks attacked our province of Egypt, killing the holy Patriarch of Alexandria what aid was given from the east.

When Arabs struck against the borders of Rome again, where were the men that had been promised.

When the Tatar murderer our embassadors, what reprimand did you send them for braking laws laid down by the Great Genghis Khan himself.

Long enough have you shirked the responsibility God had given you. By counsel of the monks of the holy mountain Athos and in guidance by prayer, I have determined that you shall receive no aid until you prove that God has blessed you as Genghis Khan was.

The Tatar are all ready becoming subjects of the Moscow Kingdom.

The Turks in Persia have been replaced by Persians.

The lands once ruled by the descendants of Genghis Khan are no longer under their rule.

But Rome still rules wat it ruled in the days of the Great Khan. Rome again rules lands it once lost hundreds of years ago. God willing, Rome will rule its western lands again.

And so it seems, God does not will it that we send you aid.
