The day passed quietly as Ye Jiao spent the day to practice fighting with a sword. By night, Lu Wan asked the servants to prepare a room for her in the main residence. Even though the servants were surprised, they prepared her a room near Lu Wan's.
"I don't understand what you're thinking with this order," Ye Jiao sighed.
Lu Wan shrugged. "It's not like they're going to criticize me because of a small matter. If I want a servant to live close to me, they can't refuse because my order is absolute."
"You're absolutely arrogant, Senior Brother Lu."
"Thank you for the compliment," Lu Wan stretched his body. "I'm going to rest, so you should rest too. If there's anything you want, just tell me and I'll ask them to prepare it."
"There's no need. Thank you."
Ye Jiao refused flatly and entered the room. Even though it was only a small room, she still found it to be rather large. She had gotten used with her life at the bottom of the ladder where she was treated worse than trash, so the simple room was already too much for her. She was glad that there was barely any accessory in the room or she might think that she was a guest rather than 'servant.'
In the eyes of the others, she was just a small servant that had Lu Wan interest. The two of them didn't try to correct the mistakes as it was better for her to just be known as a small servant. The misunderstanding would pass as there will be much more interesting events that happened.
While thinking of her plan, Ye Jiao cleaned up her body and rested on the bed.
'It's really soft.'
Comparing the bed with the one she had in Hell Island, Ye Jiao giggled for a bit. There was simply no way to compare them at all.
By morning, Ye Jiao felt refreshed. She prepared herself and wore the servant's clothes that other servants gave to her last night. As her build was still too small, she decided to wear her usual clothes underneath or the clothes would look too big on her.
"Servant clothes didn't seem suitable for you," Lu Wan commented when he saw Ye Jiao stood not far from his door.
Ye Jiao rolled her eyes. "At least, no one will find me weird in this residence again."
Lu Wan merely shrugged and headed to the training hall. If he had to say, Ye Jiao's disposition made it hard for him to see her as a servant. She looked more unrestrained and carefree, which was unsuitable for the image of a servant.
"I'm going to train, so don't bother me," Lu Wan said to the nearby servant in his usual stern tone.
"Yes, Young Master."
Lu Wan entered the training hall with Ye Jiao. He pointed to Ye Jiao's clothes. "Change it to your training clothes. It'll be more convenient to use."
"Fine," Ye Jiao took off the clothes. She had worn her usual clothes underneath, so it only took several seconds to take it off.
Seeing that, Lu Wan's lips twitched. He had forgotten that there were no servants around the age of Ye Jiao in this residence. There were some child servants who worked here because of their family background, but most of them had to enter the training first. As the result, the children here usually already reached the age of 11 to 12 at the youngest.
The clothes Ye Jiao had were simply too big for her.
"Ye Jiao…"
"Brats!"
Before Lu Wan could finish his sentence, the two of them heard the familiar voice. They turned their head to the other side of the hall as they saw their master entered leisurely. He waved his hand.
"Master!"
"It seems that I underestimate your progress," Zhan Jing commented as he swept his gaze on Ye Jiao. The stable Eon Energy inside the lass's body told him that she had already consolidated her rank.
Ye Jiao smiled. "Master, you flatter me."
"I heard your progress from my pals over there," Zhan Jing showed a stack of paper that he took out of his storage bracelet. "And I have to admit I'm surprised to hear that you didn't have any proper weapon."
"Eh? That…" Ye Jiao scratched her head feeling embarrassed. She didn't know that they would have to fight against a pack of wolves every single day, so she didn't ask for a weapon from her master. But if she thought about it again, Lu Wan had warned her to be careful and yet, she didn't think that way.
Zhan Jing shook his head. "Now, what kind of weapon do you want?"
"I want a curved dagger that's similar with this," Ye Jiao took out the rib bone from her storage bracelet. "I hope that it can be a thin blade that's easy to use, Master."
"Curved dagger?" Zhan Jing was rather surprised. "You have weird taste."
"Right? I tell her that too…"
Bletak!
"You're not any better," Zhan Jing hit the boy's head. "Do you think that weapon like the one you ask is easy to find?"
"Eh? Master, don't reveal that!" Lu Wan protested. "I want to surprise her after she had picked her own weapon."
"Fine, you brat."
Ye Jiao looked at her master with a hopeful expression. "Is it possible for me to have a curved dagger?"
"Yes," Zhan Jing replied curtly. He waved his hand and three curved daggers appeared before him. The first one was red in color. It has numerous engravings on the blade and looked scary from the first look. The second one was silver in color. It didn't have any engraving as it looked plain, but the might it showed was not any less from the red one. The third one was a black dagger. There was a faint layer of mist covering it, making it hard for anyone to see the true appearance beneath it. In addition, Ye Jiao could faintly feel a hint of bloodlust from the dagger.
"You have more weapons than I thought, Master," Lu Wan commented.
Zhan Jing ignored the boy as he pointed to the first dagger. "This is a dagger made of firestone and extremely suited for someone with a fire element. As for this one, this is one of the sharpest steel in the world that can possibly cut everything," He paused for a moment. "The last one is from Valley of Death. It's said to be cursed."
"Fire element?" Ye Jiao asked the unfamiliar term she heard.
Lu Wan put his hand on the back of his head. "Haven't you heard that those who become Eon Energy Rank 4 have the possibilities to use element energy?"
Rank 4?
Recalling her mother and those two's fight, Ye Jiao recalled that they indeed used three elements: earth, water, and wind. She never gave it much thought, but it seemed that there was a chance to control elements when they reached rank 4.
Zhan Jing Nodded his head and looked at Ye Jiao. "I don't know what your element will be if you ever have the chance to earn the ability, but if you want to choose it, you're free to do so."
Ye Jiao was not entirely sure what element she would have, so she turned her head to the third blade. "Master, you say that this is cursed, why?"
"Death Valley is the place where numerous people had died," Lu Wan explained. "It's a very dangerous place and every weapon retrieved from that place is called to be cursed because of the looming dark intent around it."
Looking at the dagger carefully, Ye Jiao could notice that it was surrounded by dark mist. Still, she felt as if the dagger was the perfect one for her. Slowly, she reached out her hand and grabbed it. The cold touch on the dagger didn't scare her away as she pulled it near her body.
"I'll pick this one, Master," Ye Jiao decided.
Zhan Jing didn't seem to be surprised as he nodded his head. "The dagger seems to choose you too, so it's your fate?"
The dagger chose her?
Ye Jiao didn't understand what her master meant, but she had come to like this dagger very much. The cold touch had disappeared as she could feel how light this dagger was. She took a few swings of the dagger to test it.
It felt really convenient!
"I like it, Master. Thank you very much!"
Zhan Jing nudged Lu Wan. "It seems that your little junior has more luck compared with you."
"Master…." Lu Wan showed an aggrieved expression. "Are you going to remind me of how the cursed chain rejected me?"
"Chain?" Hearing that word, Ye Jiao was astonished. She looked at her senior brother with inquiry as she was surprised to hear that he chose a chain as his weapon.
