Chapter 9 - Kidnapped?

'Mother should be back soon' I thought while laying down. I had already recovered from the strange event, after all, I had been through worse.

I shuddered for a moment as I recalled the strange worm creature in the universe jar, 'best not think out this now'.

I tried to sit up, pushing down on the grassy floor but my body had jammed. Even though I had mentally recovered, it was quite physically demanding to go through... whatever that was.

I decided that I could contemplate what had just happened later. Judging by the time almost an hour had passed, mother should be back soon.

I lay down on the grass, it wasn't quite soft enough to be comfortable but I had never been bothered by an uncomfortable bed in my last life, I wasn't going to start complaining now.

A few minutes passed before I heard someone call out, "hey boss, there's still one more!." The voice was somewhat deep but I didn't understand what they meant.

'One more? One more of what?' It didn't take long for me to get my answer as a few strong looking men ran over and picked me up.

My eyes were partially closed so they didn't seem to notice that I was awake as they threw me over their shoulders.

I thought about escaping for a moment before thinking logically about the situation.

'One more? That must mean that they took some other people, they probably took all the other kids that were here, including Feng Long. My body can't move well and they might try to knock me out if I escape which could cause brain damage, it would be best if I just waited for a chance to escape with Feng Long.

I let the men drag me to a long train of carriages and throw me in one before chaining my hands to a metal plate on the wall.

The metal handcuffs that bound me to the wall dig into my wrists and cut off the blood flow to my hands. I looked around and noticed that I was not the only one in the carriage.

Before I could check out who they were, something caught my eye. Through the open back of the carriage, I could see the lady that owned the daycare.

She was getting handed money by one of the men that had carried me. 'What a bitch' I though, it was fine if someone hurt me, I could handle the pain but someone decided to hurt my brother, they would know hell.

My emotions stayed bottled up, never showing on my continuously expressionless face. I had long gotten used to having a permanent poker face, it helped while negotiating with the commanders of space fleets. I didn't dwell on the past and instead looked at the people in my cart.

The carts were quite spacious and each one held four people. The gaps between carts were not wide enough for me to squeeze through.

A glanced at the people in the cart with me, one of them was an old man who looked like he was on the brink of death, the other two were people from the daycare.

One of the was the blond girl with a lot of attitude, the other one... I paused.

she has a cute and round face, her blond, no, it was closer to a light grey coloured hair looked fluffy and soft. Her fringe bangs were short, slightly framing her face and the back of her hair was cut a few centimetres above the shoulder and slightly curled forward.

The thing that surprised me most was that she was awake and looking at me. Her eyes carried a slight depth in them and a beauty mark was just below her left eye, even the small amount of dirt that had accumulated on her couldn't hide her cuteness.

Looking at her made me notice something that I had ignored before, all of the kids look slightly older than they should be. For example, I looked to be about four years old even though I had not turned three yet.

It was probably the genetics of most people that caused all this strange occurrence.

The girl said nothing as she looked at me, the putrid smell of the dirt and filth in the carriage didn't seem to bother her. I was about to say something to her when the carriage began to move with a jolt.

I saw a few strong men begin to guard the spaces between the carriages. There weren't enough people to guard every carriage so there was only a strong man every three or four carriages.

When I was looking out the back of the carriage train, although I could only see a few people, I could not see Feng Long. I couldn't see into the carriages in front of the one I was in because a dark green cloth covered the entrance to those carriages.

I turned and looked at the Grey haired girl before whispering, "hey." She looked at me inquisitively, showing that she was listening. I asked her, "what's your name" she replied in a high pitched but flat voice "Ming Ai."

"So, Ming Ai, why are you awake" I asked but got no reply for a few seconds.

"Same as you" she said quickly, it seemed she had witnessed what had transpired after I woke up.

I didn't have much to talk a about after that so we just sat in silence with our hands tied up.

I began to formulate an escape plan, the handcuffs which kept my hand to the wall had a lock on the side, if it was unlocked then the whole piece would swing out on a hinge.

The hinge had a little bit of rust, not enough for me to break it with force, but enough to squeak when opened.

I had long since noticed the thin metal embroidery on the sleeve of Ming AI's red shirt. It could be turned into a lock pick if it was removed.

My hands were stuck to the wall so I could only use my mouth or feet to remove the metal embroidery. I couldn't reach with my mouth so I could only use my feet.

"Be very still and quiet" I said as I slipped off my shoes and swung my body up. It was difficult on my core muscles to hold my body up but I had to endure.

The metal embroidery had been sewn into the sleeve to I had to break several threads in order to remove the thin piece of metal.

Ming Ai didn't even look at what I was doing, she seemed to already know my plan. I knew that she wasn't a candidate because I couldn't feel the friend or enemy aura that candidates emitted, but she was too smart.

I could use my toenails to break the threads on her sleeve, so I slowly worked my way around her sleeve before finally getting the thin metal piece.

None of the strong men had seen what I was doing, most of them looked like they were about to fall asleep so I felt safe. I balanced the metal circle on my big toe before flicking my foot, neatly throwing it to my chined up hands.

The metal was thin so I easily snapped it before slightly bending it. The newly made lock pick rested in my fingers for a moment before being put to use. I twisted my hand to an awkward angle and inserted the lock pick in the keyhole, it was a simple lock, therefore it was easy to open.

I heard a quiet click and without a moment of hesitation, pushed on the handcuffs.
