Chapter 7 - Vast sea city

A loud crashing and banging greeted me in the morning, I stared at my bedroom door. It was gone and large scars crisscrossed the doorframe. I looked over to the side only to see a crying Feng Long. The noise had startled him so he was crying.

I cautiously got up and looked out of the room. The whole hallway had scratches and gashes, splinters covered the floor and the carpet was torn.

It looked like a fight had happened and from the sounds I was hearing, it was still happening. I cautiously crawled to the steps, I felt a little reluctant to see what was happening, it could be dangerous.

I clenched my fist, 'since when was I afraid of something that could be dangerous' I thought as I looked down the staircase before hiding again.

My heart was pounding and I couldn't calm my breathing. There was a strange humanoid creature. It was at least three meters tall and had purple skin. It looked slightly feminine and had long greasy black hair that clung to its face and body. It's eyes were white and it felt like they could see everything at once. it's hands were massive and it's fingers were sharp, like claws. My mother was fighting it and slowly losing.

It could instantly kill me if I suffered a glancing blow. 'I need to raise my body condition' I thought before sitting down and slowing by breathing. Although there was a battle happening just below me, I needed to be stronger.

I could barely walk with my current body condition, if I raised it to 3 then I would be able to easily walk and run. I knew I was close to reaching level 3 body condition so I was impatient. 'Faster, FASTER' I thought as my spiritual energy crept through my meridians.

[body condition has reached 3 points]

'Finally' I thought as I stood up. I was about to head down the steps and hide while trying to figure out the creature weak point but a strong shockwave hit me.

My mothers spirit was the throned howling lion, it specialized in reflecting damage and making shockwaves. She had just used a 1000 years old shockwave spirit ring which had blown me back. The humanoid creature was far worse off, having broken its arm.

I cautiously slid down the stairs, not making a noise, I then quickly made it to the kitchen, avoiding the fight in the middle of the living room.

I had my back up against the kitchen wall, just beside the opening to the living room. My heart was racing, I thought the creature had seen me.

I peeked out into the living room and was stunned. The creature attacked my mother who blocked, the creature retreated and recovered for a second before my mother attacked, it blocked and my mother backed off and caught her breath for a second before the creature attacked again.

It was like they were taking turns, each going for a round before backing off. They were fighting so little and mostly just standing around.

Although their fighting frustrated me, it left me lots of time to observe. My eyes took on a violet hue and everything became more clear. I stared at the creature as it attacked my mother, I had to find its weak spot.

Time flew by as my mother was continually scratched by the creature, as much as I wanted to run out and fight it, I knew I would just die.

My visions stayed locked on the creature as it backed off. My eyes opened wide,I had found the weak spot. I backed up and reached for a drawer, it had knifes in it. 'Perfect I thought as I jumped up and grabbed one.

The knife was sharp but the wooden handle was a little bit too big for my hand. I wasn't bothered as I steadied my breathing and entered a state of perfect calmness. 'The calm before the storm' I thought before grinning, it perfectly fit this situation, then I suddenly blacked out for a moment.

I stepped out of the kitchen as the purple creature lunged at my mother, I stepped forward and jammed the knife into the creatures lower back. It roared in agony before turning around and slashing at me.

I placed a foot on its back and held onto the knife witch was firmly lodged into the creature. I pulled out the knife and pushed myself up before stabbing the head of the creature.

It once again writhed in pain, but instead of retaliating, it ran off I to the forest. I slowly followed it, stepping over my mother who was laying on the floor. The creatures last charge had cost her an arm.

I registered her injury but didn't react. My eyes were dead. Most people think that dead eyes are the same as wanting to be dead eyes. There is a very large difference.

If the look in someone's eyes show that they want to die, then they are usually dark and self loathing. My eyes showed no emotion, just an endless stillness, my eyelids were slightly closed and unblinking. I stepped over the destroyed furniture and avoided large gashes in the floor.

I moved with great efficiency, there was no wasted motions. I made it to the front door which had been torn off of its hinges. I looked out at the forest in front of me for a second before blacking out for a moment.

'Eh'? I thought, I was falling over. I quickly caught myself before looking around. 'What happened to the creature?' I thought before seeing my mother.

I quickly walked over to her. She was missing an arm and was badly wounded. I didn't remember what had just happened but I knew I had been too slow. 'If only I had trained my purple demons eye, I could have learned the weak spot sooner and mom wouldn't have to lose her arm'. 'What do I do to help?' I thought before seeing the stairs. 'Dad' I thought as I quickly moved up the stairs.

I headed over to my fathers room. My father was laying down on his bed, still incredibly sick. As much as I didn't want to disturb him, mother needed help and he was the only one who could do it.

I pushed his arm to get his attention. "Oh, Feng Hao, what are you doing here" he said. I didn't reply and just pulled his arm, "sorry Feng Hao, I cant play with you right now" he said.

In a fit of anger I yelled "mama" at him. My yelling got his attention and he looked over at me before seeing the damaged walls outside his room. He had somehow slept through the entire fight.

My father quickly stood up and want out of his room. He stopped for a second after he saw the damage in the hall. The look on his face screamed 'my poor wallet'.

After grieving for his wallet for a moment, my father went downstairs. As he entered the living room he rushed to my mothers side. "Who did this to you" he bitterly said as he cradled my mother in his arms. My father didn't expect an answer but he wanted one and after he didn't get it, he got to work.

My father found medical supplies and he stopped the flow of blood. His eyes were full of tears but he toughed it out. No sickness could get between him and saving his wife.

I watched from the sidelines as my mother was patched up. I felt tired, it had been too eventful today and I needed to sleep.

My father carried my mothers passed out body upstairs and I nodded off while surrounded by destruction.

"Master" I yelled as I ran into an old room. The architecture was similar to that of a traditional Chinese house. "Feng Hao, what has you so exited" an old man said as he stroked his long white beard.

"I found this super cool old building, second brother and sister are already there."

"Oh, so, where is this 'super cool old building' you speak of" my master said.

I led the way to the old building, it was raised off the ground and there was no floor. Two other kids my age were hopping on wooden poles that had replaced the floor. "Oh, an old training room, haven't seen one of these in years" my master said.

I hoped on one of the poles, "come on master let's try these out" I said. My master jumped on one of the poles and all four of us hopped around "ohohoho" my master laughed as we played.

It was the happiest time in my life, just me, my master and my friends.

I woke up refreshed, it was a new day and I was ready to take it on.

...

"Feng Hao! Feng Hao!" Feng long called out. "What" I said, "I finally did it, look at my hand!" Feng long called out as he lifted up his hands.

There was the tiniest bit of shine on them and hey weren't tough at all. "What is this?" I asked, "it's my mysterious jade hand, now that I finally learned it, I will be unstoppable!" Feng long yelled.

"Bro, that is not mysterious nor is it jade like, thats just your hand!" I yell. Feng long blanked for a moment as if he couldn't believe that I had not immediately started worshipping him.

"Bro, I get that we are both two years old, almost three, but you are too damn childish" I say as my mother bursts into the room.

"We are going to vast sea city" she sang as she picked both of us up in one hand.

The house had been fixed after the incident that the three of us don't talk about. It was a sensitive issue to dad so nobody mentioned it around him.

"Yay!" my brother yelled out, just as quickly he turned to me and said "what's a city?"

Me and my mother both laughed as we headed out of the house. It was time to visit vast sea city.
