KIARAI'm returning back to my usual boring routine in an other couple of hours. I donno what this feeling is, I'm scared, nervous, sad and tired all at the same time. This happens to me every time my vacations end, ever since school days, my subconscious would repulse at the thought of going back to school or work after holidays. I have no other go, but to face reality.I'm already seated in the flight back to Seattle. It's not yet been twenty minutes and I already miss mom, dad and Bruno. I let out a sigh and looked around, people are still boarding and the seat next to me is yet to be filled.I was lost in my thoughts, when I sensed someone occupy the seat next to me. I didn't bother to look at the person beside me, but instead focussed my attention out of the window. It wasn't long after, the pre-flight announcement was made."Ladies and gentlemen, welcome on board, fight 4H9 with service from Auckland to Seattle. We are currently second in line for the take off and are expected to be in air in approximately six minutes time. Please fasten your seat belts and secure your baggage underneath your seat or in the overhead compartments also make sure that your seats and table trays are in upright position for the take off. Please turn off your personal electronic devices. Smoking is prohibited for the duration of flight. Thank you for choosing Hawk wings airlines. Enjoy your flight ". I exhaled loudly and fastened my seat belts."Scared?" I heard the person next to me ask.I turned my head to properly look at the person next to me. He was a young man, maybe in his early twenties. He had a half wavy and half curly black hair, which looked uncombed and he was wearing a black thick rimmed glasses which kind of gave him a nerdy look. There was this friendly aura about him. All in all, he was good looking."Sorry?" I shot him a confused look."You seem to be nervous about something... Are you scared of flights?"Me scared of flights??Maybe I am nervous, about going back, but as far as I know I'm not scared of flights."Not that I know of". We were taking off and within few seconds we were up in the air.The person next to me was quite after that. He made himself comfortable in his seat and started reading some book. I put on my ear pods and pulled on a eye mask and prepared myself to get a good nap.I don't remember how long I have been sleeping, when I woke up I found my head to be resting on a firm base. I frowned pulling my mask up and when I noticed on what my head was resting on. I instantly jerked my head back only to meet up with the pitch black eyes of my neighbour."Shit! I'm sorry, I didn't rea-". I started but the man next to me cut me off by chuckling and saying "That's perfectly alright, I'm not very often previlaged to lend my shoulders to a pretty lady "I smiled at him, feeling a bit awkward and he returned back my smile. He kind of looked boyish and cute, when he smiled, he got a small dimple on his right cheek.Thank god I have not drooled! It would have been even more embarrassing if I had."I am Sam by the way" He said extending his hand towards mine. Okay!"Kiara". I took his extended hand to give it a shake."Well nice to meet you kiara". My name sounded different when he pronounced it. I liked the accent though and he shot me a handsome smile."You too".The air hostess came to check if we need anything. I asked for a glass of water and she nodded at me."Would you like anything sir?" She asked smiling a bit widely at Sam"I think I'm good" He said ignoring her completely."So, you going on some vacation?" Sam asked after a few minutes."Nah! I am returning back from my vacations" I said, feeling gloomy."Oh! You don't look like you want your vacations to end yet? " He said with a knowing look."Umm.. Actually no, once I return, I have to go back to my usual routine college, studies and work. It gets tiring sometimes" I said exhaling loudly. Why am I telling all this to a complete stranger?"I understand" He said slightly nodding his head as if he is thinking about something and then asked "so you are a student then?""Yep" He just hummed at this and didn't question me further."What about you? We're you here on a vacation too? " I asked"Sadly no! I had a conference to attend here""Oh"Somewhere I too wanted to ask him more about what he was upto, but I am not much of a talkative person, usually I respond if people ask me anything, but when it comes to me starting a conversation, I suck at it.People usually think I am a shy person, but actually I'm not shy, but I donno how to covey my thoughts to another person and most of the time it results in misunderstandings, so I prefer to be silent most of the times.Sam didn't bother to strike up a conversation with me after that and I didn't mind. The air hostess returned back with a glass of water, I took it and thanked her. I drank the water and pulled my eye mask over my eyes again, but this time not to sleep, but to think. Don't ask me about what?, because I wasn't thinking about anything in particular, my thoughts keep jumping from here to there.I didn't realise that I had slipped back to sleep, but luckily this time my head didn't rest on Sam's shoulder when I woke up. I looked around, it was dark and looked like everyone was asleep including the person next to me with the book he was reading resting on his chest. He must have fallen asleep while reading cause he hadn't removed his glasses.I bent a little to have a look at the book he was reading, I know I am not supposed to intrude like that but I just couldn't help it.The book cover was red in color and title read 'Fahrenheit 451' by ray Bradbury. Oh! This guy reads science fictions, which I don't. I am more inclined towards mystery and fantasies, I also do read dystopians and romances too but no matter how much I try to read philosophies and sci-fi's, I end up getting bored after reading a few chapters.Ah! I'm bored, with nothing else to do, I had to force myself to shut my eyes to sleep. I hate long journies where all I have to do is sit and do nothing. I had a novel in my bag pack, but I was in no mood to read right now. My eyes can't take up the strain. It was indeed a long journey back, and when finally landed in Seattle airport, It was sometime in the mid noon.Sam helped me with my bag pack and we got down together. We had gotten to know each other during our journey. He said he is originally from India but was born and bought up in London. It seems that he has recently moved into Seattle due to his new job and I told him a bit about my course, part time jobs and friends but made sure to not to share too much of my personal information, even though he is friendly,he is still a stranger to me.Not that I got any bad vibes from him, but as I said I am not much of a talkative person. Neither did he share too much about himself nor did he cross his line by asking questions which he is not supposed to. A perfect decent man who knew how to converse and respect another persons limits. We reached the baggage collection point. There were many luggage bags on the baggage handler and I made a move to lift mine, when I spotted it but Sam stopped me."Which one is yours? " He asked"The red one there" I pointed at my bagHe effortlessly lifted my luggage and placed it next to me.I smiled at him "thank you! "Before he could reply, he spotted his bag "ah! There's mine" He said lifting a black travel bag.We walked together out of the airport, I don't know why he is stuck with me. He could have left me on my own, the moment we got down but he didn't. Not that I minded, this man seemed nice and friendly."Well then" He stopped once we were out. I looked up at him"It was nice meeting you, kiara" He said giving me a friendly smile."You too" I said."See you then" He said before giving me a hug. Oho.. This was unexpected"Bye" I said before walking away in the opposite direction and getting into a cab.I hope I would get to meet this Sam guy again. He would make a really good friend. I would not deny that I was tad bit disappointed that he didn't ask me for my number or anything .So it would be a coincidence if I get to meet him again.
