"So, what's with this ghost hunting?"
"... Did you even forget that? *Sigh Nevermind. This Sta. Ana Elementary School is too big and enough to hold wonders of horrors for itself.
The first wonder said that a headless white lady is lurking at the Balete tree just at the back of our building, for the Grade One, and Grade Two building.
The second one is at the burned Science building. It was blocked by big plywood for us not to enter there since that building can't be avoided by using the T.L.E. building to go to the M.A.P.E.H. building, and made a gossip that there's a great demon hiding there. You can jump over the plywood to go inside if you can though, the wood that blocking the way is way too tall for us.
The third one is at the Balete tree at the back of the said Science Building. There's a mention of a Kapre living there... That's all about that third.
The fourth horror is at the main building where the great stairs located at the center. They said that the rooms of the hall that making the hallway closed for the natural air not to pass by, are the meeting place of all ghosts here and when you're traveling at the said hall while it's not yet dawn, you will hear the sounds of wooden chairs shuffling and banging while the doorknobs are locked. Then if you reached the great stairs, a sudden burst of resentment in a form of air will start to chase you out to the opposite building, to make you get out of that place and it will not stop chasing you until you're out of the main building.
The fifth one is on the top floor of the main building. Everyone said that there's a person that drowned inside of the big water tank. And if you went up there using the great stairs, which is the only way to go up there, you will hear a scream or a cry asking for help. If your luck is so bad, they said too that you might see the ghost itself shaking the locked gate, as if he/she was inside the prison that wanting to get out so badly.
The sixth one is at the SPED building. They said that a crazy ghost man is lurking and will kill you once he saw you inside of the building. But won't chase you and will stop at the only entrance of the said building, if you escaped from there.
The seventh one is the worst thing, for me. There's a gossip that this school was once a river full of corpses and changed into hospital but was destroyed after the war and became a cemetery and lastly became the school now in the 1900s. You will saw the ghosts from the past centuries in the back of the left and right side buildings. The only way to get there is from the main left and main right entrances, there's a way that will lead you to the back." She explained to me.
"Oh... You're so well-informed of superstitions around here, huh?"
"What do you know? All of the things that in your mind are fight, fight, and fight..." Then she shut her mouth up and I saw her eyes widen and started to release tears. "Hmmph! Bully! I know you know them too! Acting that you don't them just to make me a noisy person! And what's next? Gonna bully me again!?"
"..." I was stunned for her sudden shifts in emotions. I raised my hands indicating that I don't have any intention to bully her. "... I told you that I won't do that again, right?"
"... Don't talk to me!" She said lastly and walked out too while wiping her eyes.
I noticed that some of the students near me are shaking their heads... Did my name is really famous for infamy? This thing made me scratched my head for I can't do anything about it. *Sigh
But... Ghosts, huh? Maybe, I can use them for my advantages... Since the first wonder is very near me, I'll check it out first...
Hmmm... I think there's an event of something like this too in my first life. But I only knew about the headless white lady, the demon in the science building and the things around the great stairs... And what I only experienced back then, when I tried the horror race. Was, the combination of second and fourth wonders only and appeared at me. And only did it once, and never tried any more as I remembered that I was so scared and my mind was filled up with those two things.
I remembered that we started to invite every student so early in the morning, like around 4 to 5 a.m., to join us in our ghost hunting... It's not totally ghost hunting but more on like a race through the horror places around the school buildings that connected, in the middle of the dark sky... In the middle of the dark corridors too... Lights are limited and they are only on in each corner of the building.
Start at the T.L.E. building, second floor. We will run there straight to the M.A.P.E.H. building and will turn left as the right side is the said blocked Science building. After turning left, we will run through the main left building corridor until we reached the main central building, then we will need to turn left again and passed through the closed hall of the central building with the great stairs in the middle. Then we will turn left again to run through the corridor of the main right building to reach the ground, but that's not the end. On the way to the ground where we're lined up for flag ceremony. We will bypass the only way to the back of the Grade One and Grade Two Building, where the said Balete tree of the headless white lady. After visiting that place, the finish line will be the ground itself.
This was so common for the 90s' kids in my very first life... Knowing that even in this parallel world, they still have them. I can try to experience that tomorrow... But instead of running away... I will uncover each story behind them... I think it's not a bad idea though.
That very dark shadow that staying under the light bulb at the very intersection of the M.A.P.E.H., Science, and T.L.E. buildings, and lastly the said resentment, in a form of air in the middle of main central building... Maybe, they exist too in this world... I'm very looking forward to meeting them again, and make them one of my protections for the family.
The flag ceremony was finished and we're walking towards our classroom for the first subject.
But this One have a big problem... I don't know where this body is sitting. Ah! I got an idea and I went to the last line for me to see what seat is vacant... And I found it, today there are two vacant seats, one in the middle area near the window and the last area near the door. But since this One's surname is Monteverde and the sitting arrangement is always alphabetically. That middle seat is mine.
"Morning. Excuse me~ Morning. Morning~" I greeted my classmates that I need to pass by to reach that seat.
There were at least 40 students in every section that's why each room is so very crowded with seats and students, and this room is not exempted by that.
I want to complain but, since I'm next to the very window... This One is satisfied... For I can see the said Balete tree this so close without going out to go there. But, I can only see it's Physical state and not the Spiritual state... I can detect the spiritual waves for something supernatural but it's not enough for me to see it with my own eyes... So~ This One will see you soon, Miss headless white lady~
Three subjects were done just like that. This school is the oldest and most famous in Manila for being a public school. So, in this school, instead of the teacher that will go to the class. It's us, students, that will go to their room. Each room of this school is the territory of one teacher. There are no faculty rooms or subject departments here... Great! They have their privacy.
With the current third subject, Section Three for where I am is now on the first floor of the main right building. It's already recess time and this room will be our canteen, cafeteria or something like that. Students are forbidden to go out of the room unless they need to go and deal with their business in the comfort room.
Some of my classmates will fetch the tray that full of a variety of foods from the kitchen and the said students will be the vendors and staffs to handle the sales and count the inventory once the recess time is finished, and will deliver the tray back to the kitchen to turned over the sales and the foods that didn't buy out.
It's like that this school is indirectly teaching the students how to handle money from the start. Even Grade One students are not exempted, but they're not that cruel for the younger kids. In Grade One, three students will need to handle the sales and will count the inventory with the teacher to teach them what is what. But for the higher Grades, only one student is required to do that.
For this One, I didn't buy food or brought a lunchbox. I silently closed my eyes and started to stabilize the mental power first in addition to remember my very first life moments and this world's me, for not to be noticed more like a weird kid.
Some teachers are like to watch over students. And I'll be in a pinch if they noticed something out of ordinary from me, right? *Sigh
For thirty minutes of playing napping. Someone will nudge my body to wake me up... And speaking of the devil.
"Can someone wake up that thing?"
I heard my female teacher said... And what do you mean 'thing'!?
"Hey, Glenn. Wake up, it's time for our fourth subject."
"Hmmm?... Got it~ Thanks for waking me up."
"No problem."
I reached out and put my bag on my shoulder and line up outside, then the whole Section Three started to march off towards the main central building, second floor... It's like that we're on the field trip but limited only with our eyes... What do they call this again... Ah! Boy scout!... Seriously... *Sigh
In the four subjects left... Nothing changed, teachers are teaching something here and there, giving some little quiz here and there, but some of them noticed my paler skin than the usual color tanned... While Llyod and some of the boys in the group started to ignore me, and I noticed Czarina and some of my classmates too, are glancing at me for a couple of times already, until the bell rings, indicating that it's time to go home now.
So, school is now a boring place for me with a few interesting things.
I waited for my Kuya to the usual place of meeting before setting off to go home.
After 20 minutes or so.
"Welcome back, boys. Change your clothes to the usual and come down here to start eating lunch with me."
"Got it, Ma~"
As I changed my uniform. I asked my Kuya. "What will you do, Kuya?"
"Go to our relatives on our father's side. I want to play with Enteng and Yong, they might have some new interesting books to borrow and read it later."
"Ah... Then I'll stay here and get more sleep after eating lunch."
"... Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yah~ There's nothing wrong with me, Kuya."
"... If you say so."
We went down and ate our lunch and Kuya started to notify our mother that he will go again to the Monteverdes.
While I went upstairs to deal with the powers finally.
But I heard my mother asking me again. "Glenn, you're sure okay?"
I smiled at her and touch her belly carefully as I say. "I am, Ma~ Don't be worry too much and just focus your attention on my soon to be younger sisters. Just shout and wake me up if you need something."
"... Okay."
I took a crossed legs sitting position and started to dwell my mind to focus on stabilizing my powers.
Four hours passed and I finally can control them at will in a snap of my fingers. Then I started to plan things out for how to get bountiful money most easily and legally...
Hmmm... I should play with the books then. I will go out later in the middle of the night while I'll leave a clone to act as me while I'm gone.
