So that's how Vincent and his daughter Alice started living with Sarah, Aiden, Olivia, and Samar into the mansion.
On that note, Pauline and I are their neighbors. We both used to hang around in Aiden's mansion after work because we would barely have any quality time with our significant others.
One day, since Pauline had an urgent meeting at her firm, she couldn't attend our gang meeting at Aiden's residence for breakfast. Sarah gave us keys to the house in case we needed anything so I kinda just let myself in. I unlocked the door to see something that I should be shocked about, but I was so used to this sight that I honestly couldn't care anymore. It's the usual drill. Olivia is fainted at the doorstep after working throughout the night in the hospital and pushing through her shifts with the help of coffee. Samar appears and lifts up his beloved, tucks her to bed, and serves her breakfast in bed once she wakes up, they then have a romantic moment and he leaves for work. I mean, I'm talking about the great Samar Anand; THE KING OF ROMANCE!
But today, as I entered the house and saw Olivia collapsed on the floor, Samar was making his coffee at the kitchen counter instead of attending to his wife, which actually took me by surprise.
"Samar?" I asked. "Aren't you gonna hoist her in the air and put her in bed today?"
"Olivia's not a baby, she can get up and do things for herself. If she's capable of saving people's lives all night, I'm sure she can take care of herself, Mavis. She gets babied too much these days." He responded with a grumpy face.
Okay, something was definitely wrong here. Samar would do anything to baby Olivia, what happened to him today? Well, I can't really tell when the sudden change took place because I haven't been at their place for a while because of my work, and I'm pretty sure that Pauline has no clue about this either since her shifts were pretty tight for the last few months. Well, I can't just leave Olivia on the floor, nor can I even carry her like the way Samar does, so all I can do is gently wake her up.
"What? Where am I?" Olivia mumbled as she fluttered her eyes open.
"You're at home. You need sleep, come on, get up. I'll help you." I offered while extending my hand.
She took it, got up from the floor, carried her briefcase with her uniform in it, and headed towards her room. Samar just glared at her the entire time, and that set me into the questioning mode. But when I have questions, I don't just go up and ask them; I'd rather watch and then come to my own conclusions. Then to confirm my assumptions, I ask the question at the right place and at the right time. I guess I haven't changed much either since high school.
I tucked Olivia to bed and then saw Samar stuffing his teaching materials into his leather briefcase, and then stomping his way out of the house. But before he could slam the door and angrily walk away, he beckoned me to the doorstep.
"What do you want?" I asked with a normal expression on my face. Not expressing any sort of anger in regards to our encounter a few minutes ago.
"Tell Olivia that she can go wherever the hell she wants, be it Las Vegas or Vietnam; to hell with her and her conference!"
All that could come out of my mouth was, "She's going to Vietnam?"
"Yeah! I'm surprised that she didn't tell you first; she told me a few weeks ago when she got the information three months ago! And she even RSVPed for the attendance without even asking me; so there's that. Just give her my answer, okay!? See ya later, Mavis."
And when he just slammed the door on my face, I stood there alone, confused about this whole Vietnam situation. I have to get some answers to my questions when Olivia wakes up.
