When I opened my eyes, the sky is already getting dark, and the room is filled in an orange light. Mimin is still asleep next to me.
Hm? It's already evening? I wanted to accompany Mimin until she wakes up, so I got onto the bed and lie down beside her. I could have just sit in the wooden chair that's just beside the bed, but I wanted to be closer to her. That's why I cuddled with her as close as possible in bed, while waiting for her to wake up. But, I guess I fell asleep?
Ah! I'm still holding on to Mimin's clothes! I should have put these on the table before I fell asleep... What was I thinking? Thankfully, everything is still folded neatly, so that's a relief.
That aside, Mimin is still... She's still sleeping. I'm not sure, but a few hours must have already passed, right? It's almost time for dinner, I think. Maria said that Mimin will wake up in a few hours, so... Why hasn't she woken up yet?
"Mimin, please wake up..."
It's almost time for dinner, so if she doesn't wake up, then what's going to happen to her? It's not like I don't believe Maria's words, but... What if Mimin doesn't wake up soon? I can't help but worry.
But there's nothing I can really do now, to help her. I don't know much about sicknesses and injuries, so I can only wait for her to wake up.
I get out of the bed, and put down Mimin's clothes on the table, to my left. I pull the wooden chair away from the table, and sit down on it next to Mimin, as close as possible.
----------
About five minutes pass, and she's still not responding. I'm trying to call for her, or hold her hand, hoping for some sort of response, but nothing happened.
*tap tap tap*
"Mimin, are you awake?"
Oh, that's Selena's voice. What's she doing here? From how she treated Mimin earlier, I can't really tell why she's calling for Mimin now. Is she also worried?
"Mina, are you awake? May I enter?"
"Ah, yes! Please come in."
Selena opens the door and walks in. She first looks at me, then at Mimin, who's still sleeping. For some reason, she doesn't say anything for a few seconds.
"What's wrong, Selena?"
"...Is she... She's still not awake yet?"
"Not right now, but she will be, soon!"
"I see."
I can't say for sure, but I really hope that she wakes up soon. I don't know if she hates Selena, so it may be bad if they see each other now, but I'll do something about that, somehow.
Also, Selena seems to be back to her usual self now. Or, at least, her tone of voice is back to normal.
"What do you mean by 'I see'? I thought you're blind, Selena? I remember you telling me that long ago."
"Well, it's just a figure of speech. You know what I mean."
I said that half as a joke, and half as a test to see if Selena's back to normal. It seems like she is.
"Mina, I can tell that you're worried about Mimin. But... It's not looking good, is it?"
"I thought you were sure that Mimin's going to be fine? Why are you only worried now?"
"Knowing what the outcome is, doesn't mean that I can stop worrying about the process, you know?"
Somehow, Selena seems genuinely concerned for Mimin now. She wasn't like this earlier. What made her change her mind all of a sudden?
"Also, it's time for dinner. Mina, please go for dinner first."
"No, please go on without me. I'll stay here and wait for Mimin."
"But, it's not good for you if you skip dinner. I can't have you skipping dinner, too."
I... I know that, but somehow, I just don't have any appetite for food. Normally I'd be hungry by now, but now it's different. I just want to stay with Mimin for as long as I can.
Selena stares at my face for another few seconds, as if there's something on my face. Please stop it, you're just making things awkward now.
"...I understand. In that case, I'll bring your food here, later."
"Thanks, Selena."
With graceful, silent footsteps, Selena walks out of the room and closes the door gently, so that she doesn't disturb Mimin. I don't really understand, but as long as Selena doesn't dislike Mimin anymore, then it's all good.
----------
Mimin still isn't awake yet. It's been 30 minutes past dinner already. What are you doing, Mimin? Why aren't you waking up yet?
The door opens, this time without any knocking, and Selena comes in holding two trays with food and a glass of water, one tray in each hand. That must be our dinner, then.
"I'll leave your dinner and Mimin's dinner here, on the table, alright?"
"Yes."
"Honestly, you're starting to make me worry as well."
"I'm fine, Selena. I promise I'll eat later."
And, once again, the room fills with silence. The room lights up in a blue glow, from the moonlight outside.
"Please wake up, Mimin. You've overslept."
Once again, I talk to Mimin, not expecting any response. It's been a little bit too long, than just a few hours, and Mimin is still asleep. Before I realized, my hands are already holding Mimin's left hand, and squeezing it tightly.
How much longer is this going to take? I can't take much more of this.
