About five minutes pass, as the three of us stared at one another.
(So, what you're saying is, Selena has the ability to read the memories of other people. I see, it makes sense now...)
(Yes, that's why, she's usually staring at other people.)
Well, Mina has been communicating with me through telepathy. I asked her about how Selena just seems to know everything, and why she's staring at us so much.
From what Mina has told me, not many people have the ability to read other people's thoughts, let alone reading memories. And Selena is one of those people who can read memories.
Wait, if that's the case, then, doesn't that mean she knows that we're talking about her now? That's kind of annoying...
"So... What are you here for, again?"
"To check on you, and see if you're doing well. And to apologize for what happened yesterday."
"Yeah, but you did that already. Since you're still here, is there anything else do you have to say to me?"
"..."
With a slightly troubled expression, she looks at me, then at Mina one last time, before turning around to leave the room. It looks like she wants to say something, but decided against saying it.
"Then, please excuse me."
----------
Finally, some peace and quiet. I lie back down on the bed, enjoying the softness, and clearing my mind of thoughts.
"I can finally relax now..."
With only the two of us left in the room, there isn't a need to use telepathy anymore, so I went back to talking normally.
I'd really appreciate it if my mornings didn't start with having to deal with Selena. Having my mind read by someone makes me feel really tense.
Mina takes a seat next to me, on the bed, and stares at the floor in silence. She takes a glance at me once every so often, but that's it.
"Is there something wrong?"
"Ah... It's nothing..."
No, there's definitely something that's bothering her. She's making it too obvious. Why is she trying to deny it, though? Come to think of it...
"Don't you have anything you need to do? You don't normally just spend mornings in your room like this, right?"
"Well, yeah, I do, but you're..."
She cuts off her sentence there, and returns to staring at the floor again. Is there something wrong with me? Why do you keep looking at my face like that?
"I'm sorry, I can't stay here with you, Mimin. But I have to go now. Wait for me, will you?"
"Oh... Sure, I guess?"
Before I can fully process what she said, she practically rushes out of the room, closing the door behind her.
...What was that about? I don't really understand what she said there. Maybe I shouldn't think too much about it. I'll just lie down, in the soft, fluffy bed, and try to relax myself.
"Ah..."
This feels too good... This comfiness is really addicting as well. I may never be able to get out of the bed if this continues...
----------
Well, this is bad. I'm hungry. And it's getting worse as time passes. I'd like to find some food to eat, but...
I can't get out of the bed now! The longer I stay in this bed, the softer it gets. At least, it feels that way. This comfiness is much more addicting than I expected.
Ah~, it's almost worth it to just endure it. It's not like the hunger is really hurting me or anything.
*tap tap tap*
Ah, someone's knocking on the door. My body still doesn't want to move. But, before I could answer, the door opened itself anyway.
"Selena... What is it?"
"It's time for breakfast. Come on, you must be hungry."
Fine, I guess I'll try to get out of the bed now. With my strength as a Silverwolf, I think I can manage that.
"Hup! There we go."
Somehow, with a large amount of effort, I managed to barely jump out of bed. And, Selena is staring at me again. Great.
But, instead of her usual poker face, she gives me a warm smile. Ah... She looks really pretty when she smiles like that.
"You like over-exaggerating things, don't you? Anyway, let's go for breakfast now."
Following her out of the room, she closes the door before leading the way downstairs.
Somehow, her smile grows even bigger as she said that. But, seriously, the bed is dangerous. How do people manage to get out of bed every morning like that...?
----------
As expected, it's really noisy downstairs, from all the chattering between all of the kids. I can only barely hear the footsteps of me and Selena.
"Ah, she's here..."
"She's accompanied by Selena again..."
Eh? Why did it become so much quieter all of a sudden? The noisy chattering became quiet whispering, in an instant. Somehow, it seems like I've become the center of attention. It's making me feel really uncomfortable...
"She's getting a lot of attention from Selena, isn't she?"
"That's unfair! We never get this much attention in one day."
"What makes her so special anyway? To get such treatment..."
Eh? What's that all about? It wasn't like this yesterday, so, why? Did I do something that I shouldn't have?
"What's wrong, Mimin? Why are you... Oh..."
At the bottom of the stairs, Selena turns around and looks at me for a brief moment, before quickly realizing what I'm thinking about. From her reaction, it seems like she wasn't able to clearly hear what everyone's whispering about.
With her usual poker face, she turns back to face everyone before talking again. This time with a slight hint of anger.
"Is there something wrong with Mimin?"
"..."
Instantly, the room becomes completely silent. It seems like nobody wants to speak up when Selena is involved.
"As I said yesterday, I hope everyone gets along well with her. Does anyone have a problem with that?"
"..."
That's... I think that's enough, Selena. It's not that serious. It's not like they're upsetting me either. Besides, I didn't ask you for help, so, why are you helping me anyway?
Soon enough, the door to the dining room slams open, and Daius shouts to let everyone know that breakfast is ready. Everyone, except me and Selena, walks ahead while whispering something about food now.
Well, at least it's not uncomfortable silence anymore!
"I'm sorry."
"Selena...What are you apologizing for? You didn't do anything wrong."
"..."
"Also... Thanks. I guess. For speaking up for me and helping me."
Following Selena into the dining room, I can see her lips curve up a little, forming a small smile, but she's back to her usual poker face immediately. I think I'm just imagining things, probably.
...It would be really nice if she smiled a little more, though.
