While Rin was casually exploring he received a system message.
"Would you like to participate in the leaderboards when they are active?"
Rin smiled. "Yes." It was time for him to see how he ranked in this game currently compared to others.
As soon as the system hears Rin's confirmation, the data was uploaded.
The world of Sand shook.
"A new top player!" Somebody shouted. He was quite ugly and smelt of cheetos. The smell permeated into the room and made it quite uncomfortable, the others around him kept their distance.
"What are you an idiot? The leaderboards have been off, that means hes the first top player!" Another man shouted. He had spiky hair, clearly a protagonist of sorts. Heck, even his eyes were multi colored, and they weren't eye contacts.
"I'm tired of you Zerata! I challenge you to a sand duel!" The cheeto smelling man screamed back with a high pitched screech.
"Hmph. Just attempt it, you won't even scratch me." The protagonist replied as he flipped his hair and made a strange pose that children would think is cool.
The people who were clearly side characters from their appearance all gasped as they were intended to do so.
Rin watched this episode of Sand Cultivator on the Television in the main desk near the leaderboards.
He quietly munched on popcorn as he imagined himself being a top leaderboard player, but the leaderboards were still off.
With a sigh Rin left the screen and began to actually figure out what to do in this new world.
"System, how do I grow stronger in this world? Also what did my old stats even do"? Rin asked like a child.
Why doesn't he know this, what you don't either?

"No" Rin replied confidently as he balled his hand into a fist and looked at it. He was having a total anime moment, just as he had watched on TV! He smiled as he stared into his hand but was soon interrupted.
"Invalid option. Let's try that again. Would you-"
"No!"
"Invalid Option. Let's try that a g a I n. Would you like me to repeat the options?"
"..No." A tear escaped from Rin's eye.
