John stood ready to listen to the tales of this Ancient being in front of him. Eager to hear it's life story and nervous of the outcome of this encounter. "Long before humanity even discovered fire and stone tools, we roamed and ruled all of this land. Never taking more than we needed to maintain balance in the world. It was prosperous times for us dragons, there was peace between species. Humans didn't know of our existence and we didn't know of their potential. To us, humans were no more than ants living in their own kind of ant hills. Despite humans rising to the top, they weren't responsible for our downfall. There was a man, he possessed a very unusual bright light. Almost as if the sun itself was the core of his existence, but brighter still. He came bearing gifts for the world, for the humans He gifted fire and knowledge. For the animals, He gifted instincts and adaptations. For us dragons, He gave us black stones, glancing at John's hand. We were foolish for accepting these stones, we believed He was trying to help everyone adapt and better their species. At first, we believed them to be eggs of sorts to create a dragon hybrid that would adapt to the future. With anticipation to see what our gifts bestowed us, we experimented, trying to see what method unlocked our potential. All we discovered is that those stone could slowly burrow through our scales to our core. Once it reaches our core, it took over. Mutated our bodies, made us more resilient then we already were. At the cost of our minds, we were unstoppable but as one did and grew powerful, others followed to maintain balance. They all but wiped each other out, we came to name them Leviathan. Through our efforts of survival of this power struggle we discovered they're weak to fire and the longer they were mutated they were equally as vulnerable to light.
Those of us who didn't combine with our stone, threw them into the deepest ocean to put as much distance between us. We began hiding from our own kind as they went on war paths, desecrating the land of life and peace. They would attack everything within sight, even each other. Unsure of how many of us still live to this day, unsure of our species survival. Believed all hope is gone until a boy who bears a similar light as the gift giver, holding a stone of our extinction, and is standing before me. My instincts are telling me to erase your existence before you can even move an inch, to guarantee my own survival. However, the core in that stone is screaming for companionship and regret. It has lived in the dark for so long that it has forgotten itself. Now then boy, please explain on how you've discover one of the last remaining dragons, whilst in the possession of a sure fire method of ending me."
"This isn't what you think." John began. "I obtained this stone from defeating one of those Leviathans, which I could only perceive as a stroke of luck after hearing its origins." John continued. As John retold the story of how he fell into the cavern, to the triumphant of the battle, the stone left behind and the ability he has to communicate with the soul of the trapped Leviathan within. "I cannot explain how I came to be the holder of this light, it was here when I was born. It's not just the light, I house the darkness too. I have come to learn of their existence and I'm willing to share their stories with you as well." John continued.
The dragon stared at John with a more curious look now. Still on guard and ready to strike within a moments notice but now more interested than disgusted. "Tell me of your light and their story!" The dragon demanded. John let Ampol's light through and formed the angelic wings on his back, the pure white gold tinted eyes and the holy sword at his waist. The dragon tensed up as if ready to withstand a strike from this new being in his presence. "Fear not ancient one, I am not your enemy. John has requested you hear my story, so I shall share with you." Ampol's voice stated from John's mouth. Ampol started at John's birth and shared every experience he had with John until this meeting. "What of you before this human's existence?" The dragon asked. "Before John, I was a warrior for the "gift giver"." Ampol stated. The dragon became more tense after hearing that, pure killing intent and bloodlust in its eyes. Ready to rip Ampol out of John, even if it meant ripping the land from water. "Remain calm, ancient one. You asked for my history before John. Tear us apart now and you'll never hear it. Ampol stated confidently. "Your "gift giver with the bright light" is my father. He didn't have any ill intentions on giving you these stones." Ampol claimed which holding the Leviathan stone out. "These stones weren't meant to conquer your minds and turn you into beasts, they were meant to be fused into your eggs to give birth to a new generation of dragons. If fused with your eggs or even fresh hatched babies, they would've became stronger than your so called Leviathans. The fortitude of your young would overcome their mind breaking effects. One young with this stone could erase the land from existence. You were meant to be His guardians of this plane. He can only give the gifts but it's your choice how you use them, He gave humans fire but didn't bestow the knowledge of cooking on them. Your kind found one use of the stone and went rampage with it. Do not blame my father for your failures." Ampol continued. "The humans were supposed to be the new light bearers and bear witness to His power. The dragons were supposed to be their protectors. Once his power was seen and preached, darkness would come to over take the light. The new generation of dragons would've been strong enough to hold the darkness back to keep the humans safe as His witnesses." Ampol finished.
"We never wanted nor did we ask to become stronger nor those ant's protectors. We weren't made to do His bidding, we were already powerful and didn't ask for these gifts that destroyed us." The dragon started. "The humans were only given fire, look what they accomplished by experimenting. You found a single use of the stone and threw it away. The failure of the past has created a new path that needs to be walked. I will now bestow upon you the true gift that was given that day." Ampol claimed. Ampol put the Leviathan stone is his left hand and held out his right palm out towards the dragon. His steps sounded as if he were in a cathedral alone. Each one of echoing after the last. Finally John's hand rested upon the dragon's snout. The room filled with Ampol's bright white light, in an instance it was as if the dragon absorbed the light as it was now gone.
