Chereads / The Trisoul Boy / Chapter 4 - The New John Black

Chapter 4 - The New John Black

John's body has changed into an unexpected form. He now looks about 20 years of age even though he's only 11 years old. He's very muscular and nimble now. His hair and eyes change depending on which power he was drawing upon. "I have to test my abilities now." John thought. John stood up on his feet and looked down at the unusual sight of his muscular legs. He notices a small egg shaped rock by his foot. John thought "Good way to start, I suppose. " He reaches for the stone and grasps it in his hand. Moves his hand around the stone trying to find the best grip. At last he found where it would sit comfortably in his hand. John begins winding up his arm to throw the stone. "CRUNCH!" John heard. Looking back at his hand, he notices a dust falling between his fingers. The egg shaped rock is now dust and pebbles. "Whoa!" John exclaimed surprised. Quickly emptying his hand of any dust and pebbles, John began looking around for another stone. He spots a stone that is oval shaped and semi flat. John snatches the rock gently. Using less strength in his hand, he begins winding up his arm. With a portion of his strength, he throws this rock at a nearby patch of trees.

"CRACK!" John heard. Watching this rock emit a shock wave and glances at the tree. Instantly a hole appeared in the tree. Amazed John approaches the tree and looks through the hole. Peering through the hole he sees 2 more trees that have similar holes in them. John began following the trail of the stone. At the 4th tree, John noticed an indentation in the tree's trunk. John begins to inspect this tree and found what remained of his stone. It was no longer smooth and flat. It looked rigid, almost like shale. "That's dangerous, need to control that better." John thought.

John began gathering his knapsack and sword and began moving westward once again. Midway through the day John could see a village on top of a hill. He began making his way up the hill to the village. John came across some kids looking at him. They were staring at as if he were an angel. John waved to the kids and kept moving to the village. When John made his way to the village, he met a man named Trent, mid aged around 40 years. No dominating features other than his beard which hung down to the center of his gut. "We're not buying it mister, move along." Trent snapped harshly. "I'm not offering anything for sale." John responded confusingly. "Last time we seen a man of your composure, he was recruiting for a war to the north." Trent snarled. "Sir, you misunderstand, I'm no soldier. I'm just a traveler." John said reassuringly. "Our village has nothing to offer, why would a traveler visit us?" Trent sneered. "I was looking for work and to borrow a smithy for repairs." John claimed. "I'll let you use my smithy under a condition." Trent bellowed. "What's the condition?" John questioned. "Let us discuss this matter privately." Trent said motioning for John to follow him.

They soon arrive at Trent's smithy and home. "Now that we are out of earshot. I ask that you go to the battlefield to the north and get my son." Trent said desperately. "How did your son get dragged into the war?" "They offered him gold coins from the Imperial Empire if he fought. He knew we didn't have much for riches so he accepted to make a better life for us.". "Imperial Empire? Who are they fighting with?" John asked. "King Alexander's Army." Trent replied. "Let me repair my blade and I will get your son. What's his name?" John replied. "Its all yours and his name is Tyke." Trent responded.

John melted down his elegant blade to begin remaking it. "This new blade should compliment both styles." John thought. Concentrating on his designed and after working through the moon phase, he was done. There it was. A blade so elegant and terrifying. A straight sword with a blade on one side that could slice though the wind with ease, and a saw like blade on the back of the blade. The hilt was designed so that John could use either blade as a primary or even switch mid combat. John tucked his blade away and went inside to get some sleep. John awoken to find some leather made clothes next to him with a note. "I fetched you some new clothes as it seems you've outgrew the ones you're wearing. Come see me before you leave. Trent." John tried on the new clothes and looked at himself in them. His shoulders were padded by leather that ran across his chest, from the chest down it was a light cotton fabric that caressed his skin. His pants were mostly leather but had patches of fabric around every bend of his leg. He could move freely in these. John made his way to Trent. "They fit you better than I thought." Trent exclaimed. "They feel amazing." John said thankfully.

"This come with it. Please take it as my thanks." Trent begged. Trent handed John a solid rectangular piece of steel. It was smooth but thick. "What is it? " John asked. Trent sighed, took the steel from John's hand and grabbed his right hand and pulled towards him. John understood now. On the outside of John's forearm sleeve was a pocket this piece of steel would fit perfectly. Trent slid the steel into the pocket. "It's for blocking strikes, we practiced the art for years. You may have no experience with it, but I can't send you defenseless." Trent explained. "Thank you." John said.

John left Trent's home and smithy and headed north. Soon John encountered a forest. He could sense life throughout the forest. John made his way into the forest, trees getting bigger, brush getting thicker. John could sense 4 life forces around him. Bigger than a humans. John drew his sword and did one circular cut and the brush was cleared in an instant. He opened up some room for reaction time in case these things were hostile. John waited for what felt like a day. When he saw them. 4 enormous wolves poked their heads through the brush. Snarling and showing their teeth. John felt a calming wave wash over him as he thought it was worse. He knew he was being circled by them. John kneeled down to his knees and felt the wolves. They had bloodlust followed by hunger.

The wolves made their move, lunging at John. In an instant John looked up, with glowing red eye and an aura with tremendous pressure the wolves fell. Whimpering and Whining as the laid around John. John relaxed Doren's aura and began petting them. "I know you're hungry boy. I'll find you some food." John said to the wolves. John grabbed a handful of pebbles and put them in his pocket and began walking around the woods sensing all the animals. There was a family of elk in the center of a field grazing. The wolves started advancing. "Stop." John said to the wolves as they stooped in their tracks looking at him. John dug into his pocket and pulled out a pebble about the size of his smallest finger nail. "I gotta try this." John thought. He placed the pebble in the crease of his index finger and lowered it to his thumb. "BOOM!" as John flicked his thumb. Sending the pebble flying and he saw the largest elk dropped.

John approaches his kill and there it was. A hole through the elks heart. The elk was dead in an instant. "Good. He felt no pain." John thought. "Eat up boys." John said to the wolves. The wolves began feasting and John was on his way north again looking for Tyke. Wasn't long until John reached a field outside the treeline and could see 2 giant groups of men. One group was wearing red clothes over their breast plates and the other group blue. A man the size of a mountain came over to John and looked down at him. "You wear neither color, who do you fight for?" this man asked. "Neither, was just passing by looking for a friend." John responded. "I'm afraid passage isn't going to happen. Does your friend have a name?" "He is known as Tyke, he's from a village just south." John answered. The man's face dropped all emotions. "You came at the right time, he's over there." The man pointing to a group of men laying on the ground. "Better hurry. He will expire soon." the man claimed. John rushed over to a man with a spear lodged into his ribs. Last one living among this group. "Are you Tyke?" John asked in a panic. "I am." scoffed the half dead man.

"I can help you, but it's going to hurt." John explained. "I'm already dead." Tyke responded. John places one hand on Tyke's heart and the other on the wooden shaft. "Not yet." John said. John began tapping into Ampol's power. Feeling the warm light, he opened his eyes and had a glowing white-gold eye. Emitting a warm, bright white light as he yanked on this spear. The spear came out and the light faded. There was no wound, just a spear on the ground and a man resting. "He is a God!" the men in blue started chanting. " A God against us!" the red soldiers yelling. "Whoever kills that man gets the title God Slayer and gets promoted to the honor guard of King Alexander. " the red general yelled. All the men were now charging John with morale boosted. John stands to his feet and draws his blade. What happened next, John almost missed. In an instance the pack of wolves jumped out of the grass and pounced a few of the soldiers. The soldier stop dead mid charge after looking at their left flank and seeing 3 of their men on the ground. The wolves standing over the men with their teeth locked into the soldiers throats. As the bodies stop twitching the wolves released their jaws. Standing there, baring their bloodied teeth at the soldiers. 4 of the 12 men continued to charge John. The other 8 started trying to circle the wolves.

John dashed at the men charging him. They started slashing with swords and stabbing with spears. They moved so slow to John as he was able to dance between the strikes. Countering everything coming his way, he began the sword play he knew. With a few slashes, the soldiers fell to the ground motionless and lifeless. Not a drop of blood on John. John planted his foot and dashed with all his strength to his wolves. He covered the distance instantly and began dancing through the battlefield elegantly. Soldiers falling quickly. The blue army stood there watching John as he moved gracefully through the squad of soldiers. No wasted movements. In seconds only John was standing with his wolves behind him.

Neither side dared to make a move against him now. "Tyke, we're leaving." John exclaimed. "Yes sir." Tyke responded as he started.heading John's way. "If you take him from our forces then you'll have to take all of us on." the general of the blue forces yelled. "I'm ready when you are." John yelled back. The soldiers began getting into formation. "CHARGE!" the general yelled. John stood there waiting. The main force of 30+ men were charging a single man. They were feet from him when John released it. John remembered his meditation session with Ampol and Doren. The soldiers stopped in their tracks as this strange man stood there in a strange form that they couldn't comprehend. John stood there with both eyes glowing, half long silver hair and half jet black hair. Eye of the demon and the eye of the angel. The jet black boney wing and the angelic wing on his back. "I said I'm ready." John yelled in a deep voice. The soldier's dropped their weapons and fell to their knees in shock.
