Chapter 14 - Exploring Stalls 2

The little kid closed his eyes and followed Tristan's instructions. Suddenly the seed began to sprout and a plant began to grow at a visible speed. The roots grew as well as and leaves expanded. Tristan then stopped the kid .

"This kid has the potential to be a herb king." Tristan said calmly. Heavy Matter began laughing. "White Star, your eyes are really formidable!"

Tristan smiled. "You can deal with this, this kid could become a huge asset for Vast Expanse." Then he walked on, exploring more stalls.

The stalls ahead didn't really have anything interesting at all. White Star moved onto the final stall area disappointed at not being able to find anything of interest.

He came to the penultimate stall, which seemed to be managed by a young woman. She looked disinterested in selling items as well, but sat there with a disgruntled expression.

Tristan didn't talk and began holding objects one after the other to check if the system identified anything. After a few minutes, he was bewildered. The system showed a whole host of objects which were prefixed with seventh civilization. Including one specific one that gave him infinite curiosity.

[Seventh Civilization Master Key]

It was a flat card shaped object that seemed to be made of a plastic like material but had a silky texture. Tristan picked out the seven items which alerted the system, unfortunately none of them could progress his evolution. It also made him wonder the basis on which the System identifies objects.

Regardless, he looked at the girl. "Miss, I'd like to purchase these seven objects." The girl didn't say much. Simply replied perfunctorily. "14,000 dollars." Tristan wasted no time and immediately purchased the items. He then asked her a question. "Did you raid a ruin or something? Those items all seem to appear to be similar in origin."

The woman was puzzled. "Was it really from a ruin? I don't know, it was just some old trash my grandfather collected. I was cleaning up my room and found those. They are just some garbage."

Tristan suddenly thought that this woman was an idiot. Did she just assume stuff that belonged to her grandfather was trash? "Can you tell me the name of your grandfather?"

The woman got irritated. "Liu Daobai. Why?" Tristan paused for bit. Where has he heard this name before... wasn't it in the forums of the Vast Expanse? Liu Daobai... isn't he the head of the strategic defense department's head? He was basically the face of the government in the Hidden World!

Tristan decided not to reveal anything and simply moved on without commenting any further. The young woman snorted and sat down to play a mobile game.

The final stall... was an old man who looked like a monkey. Before Tristan even said anything, The old man grinned. With one swipe all the objects and his table disappeared and with another three objects appeared. "I've been waiting for you young man. These are the three objects I am willing to sell to you."

Tristan's eyebrows crumpled. This old geezer was too mysterious. He clearly had a storage treasure which wasn't ordinary and he even acted profound and mysterious. Tristan decided not to open his mouth and quietly touched the items.

[Heavenly Tribulation Bolt]

[Absorb? Y/N]

[Shadow Dragon's Final Clue]

[Bone God's Fated Will]

When Tristan saw these items, his face turned serious. Items with labels like Heavenly Tribulation, Dragon and God had to all be pinnacle level items even if he didn't know their effects.

"Who the hell are you?" Tristan asked. He was sure that this old geezer was someone very powerful and immediately became vigilant.

"Relax. No one else can see me. You can call me the merchant of temptation! I only appear when I find a most interesting person! And the items I sell are always the ones my customer is in dire need of, even if they do not know it! I sell not what you want, but what you need."

Tristan calmed down. "So...a powerhouse like you likes to move us weaklings around like pawns by tempting us with priceless items? Do you think I am so stupid as to not realize you are trying to drag me into your own personal machinations in some way?"

The temptation merchant laughed. "You are indeed very perceptive and I won't deny that at all. However, let me tell you that you will definitely need these items in the future. I don't know what these items are, they aren't even mine. I have a very simple power, I can simply summon the items the person before me will need desperately in the future but have no means to acquire it! If you reject me now, these items will simply return to their original locations and I assure you, you will never be able to obtain it using conventional means, for if you could they would never appear in front of you now!"

Tristan became serious. "What a powerful, yet restrictive ability. I find it hard to believe that a person as powerful as you cannot identify these items, there is no point lying to me."

The temptation merchant laughed. "There is indeed no way I can't identify an object when I see it, but the catch is I cannot observe the objects I have summoned. I simply see three vortexes, which tells me there are three objects, which is a pretty unique incident. Few of my customers have ever needed three items from me at once."

Tristan sighed. "What is the price for these objects?"

The temptation merchant smiled. "Three favors. One per item."

Tristan contemplated. "You have to specify the contents of each favor now or else we can forfeit this transaction. I'd rather regret not having the item and surrendering to fate, than having potentially do something against my own beliefs if you ask me to later."

The temptation merchant grumbled as he closed his eyes. "You really drive a hard bargain. Okay, these are your three favors. For the first object, you must save Destiny from its impending death one time. Do you agree?"
