Chapter 56 - Ch. 55 Dangling Flesh

Sitting in silence as we stare at one another Ellie finally realizes I cannot possibly respond to such a question before she blushes and looks away. As I lay back down to continue my meditating I hear a gentle voice as Ellie whispers underneath her breath "Nevermind" before she lays down and curls up behind me again fixing the pillow filled with meat that I call a "backpack" that the little birdies moves while trying to get to the meat inside... Now that I think about it... Birdies... Food? Ah, I guess I'll yoink the beaks and grab some rabbit fur and shadow wolf skin. As I drag the wolf and rabbit bodies over with ghost claws I move my focus to the birds using a ghost claw to hold still before me before using my actual claws to slowly cut them off. Digging a hole in the back end of the smallest beak then plucking them and tossing the corpses off the tree while I wrap the wolf corpses in a thick cloud cover then form a punch of ghost claws and hold it together as best I can I pull them up one by one with great effort. Luckily they are only about 60 pounds the pack leader weighed the most at about 130 pounds so I could only leave it by the base of the tree for now.

After bringing the rabbits and wolves I plan to use to the top I begin slowly ripping them open and carving along the edge of the muscle to properly remove the skin from the bodies of the two wolves I picked. The skin is a beautiful pitch-black color I gather up the hair and hold it inside a cloud as I work after both the wolves are completely skinned I dig into their guts and pull out the bladder which I make sure isn't leaking and set aside. After done with that I push them both off the branch then send excess ghost claws out to collect the other wolves' bladders as I begin to remove the rabbit fur. Once all the bladders have been gathers I grab the brains next and put them in a separate cloud after collecting it all and tossing out the other stuff I toss the stuff I want into a thick cloud bubble that I compact to keep it all in luckily without all the meat and bone the finished product only weighs 15ish pounds and 5 of that is the organs... Skin doesn't weigh that much especially not the skin of two wolves and the fur of four tiny bunnies. Moving on I cloak my wings in clouds and hop down gently gliding towards the heart wolf and begin to do the same with it. After I've gathered everything of use and abandoned the cut up and trashy bits of skin my storage cloud has risen to about 17 pounds. After the storage cloud has been placed high enough up in the mist layer but not in the surface bit I get to work moving all the corpses and blood. I can't exactly wash the blood away but it's not impossible to gather it in a cloud... for whatever reason... it of course isn't perfect but due to my ability to feel it slipping through the densely packed mist I can simply shift it around so that the blood can properly be moved after all the blood and bits of meat have been gathered I fly over and drop it a hole I dug next to the bloody hole fill it with mud then drag all the corpses and pile them up on top of the now filled bloody holes.

After that's done I fly up to a nearby tree and form a bunch of mist claws that begin to scratch away at the top of a tree removing a fairly thick log after about an hour of work before slicing it into four separate 6-inch squares that I hollow out, turning them into 4 separate tubs that have about 3inches of depth before bringing my storage cloud over and place the hides into them after laying out the wolf hides into one bin I grab the bladders and empty the gross contents into the bin before covering it with another bit before doing the same with the other after binding them tightly together with some nearby vines so that none of the contents leak out I dump the now empty bladders in the corpse area. After that, I tie up the two sealed bins and place them hanging from the branch under the nook so that they will shake about in the breeze before getting some of the hides I had set aside and making a nice fleshy sack which I fill with the rest of the contents of my storage cloud excluding the hair which I made a separate little wooden box for... That's a lot of work... Looking up I spot a light along the horizon guess it's morning soon. Rabbit... Spotting a rabbit inside my mist cover wondering about I quickly form two hands behind it and grab its hind legs before it can run lifting them gently off the ground after wrapping its legs in clouds.

After making sure it can't escape I attack its bunny ears severing them as it charged up its attack then form a cloud claw inside its head and swiping its brain directly till it dies. Then I drag it to the fire that Ellie put out hours ago before moving my claws with a few others to collect twigs before I sit before the pile of wood and leaves wondering how... I'ma lite it... Hmm... Looking about for a bow and arrow I find I'm lacking that so, no flint or steel, and no way I can just find those... I'm not spending hours spinning a piece of wood with these tiny claws so... Magnifying glass? Hmm well, the sun is currently visible I guess but no glass... Hmm, water could work in a pinch but I don't have that power nor is my light able to focus as it used to... Hmm welp, I'm entirely incapable of the job it seems... Private Ghost claw your mission is to go and wake the girl. Move out!!! Shifting my focus back to the rabbit I begin to skin, debone and remove the organs from it before hanging it with clouds above the fire when I see Ellie climbing down I do a cumbersome and awkward salute to the claw of clouds just to fit the bit before eating it and turning to Ellie. Well... We are waiting... Dance monkey... Seeing her looking around confused after coming down turning towards the hanging pile of wood tied in vines or the fleshy sack that looks like an improved backpack she gapes for a second then turns back to me as my cloud claws ditch the debris that used to make up the none edible bits of this rabbit. Seeing her confused face I make a cloud before her and show her a picture of her starting the fire then us eating the meat hanging above the fire... She can't be dumb enough not to understand that... and we good she walked towards the fire and started it while gazing at the clouds forming pinchers that are constantly shifting to hold the meat in place. "You've been busy..." Shut up and cook...
