As I tried to come to terms with my own weird form of cannibalism, a pain ran through me... I looked up and saw it... Rats had begun to flood into my cave... The first rat got tangled up in me and was being crushed while the others attacked my roots. I quickly focused in on the rats as I began to kill the rats one by one as I was before. Then the light once more flooded into the room. Fire was gonna hit my body... Before I could think I acted on instinct and used a bunch of the rats as a shield and pushed back the flame. As I moved the rats aside I witnessed a nice crispy rat army and a bunch more shocked and slightly burnt rats behind them. It seems the fire had struck my wall of corpses and been sent back at the other rats. A sudden cry could be heard and almost at the exact same moment most of the army began to fled but it was too late for most of the ones who survived the flame. roots closed in on all of them from all sides as they were crushed to death. As I moved my vision to the farthest root. I saw two white rats and a deep black rat fleeing with a few very large rats in tow. I let a bunch of them escape...
As I watched them flee I heard the ringing sound once more and turned to Alex. Reading almost immediately. trying to move on from my failure. *[Magical Starvation Resistance] Has reached 100 [Evolve] and [Soul] will now upgrade it into Inherent skills [Magical Waters- 1] and {Magical Starvation Nullified}.* Well that's good it seems I don't take any damage from running out of energy anymore... But doesn't that mean my regeneration will also level slower now? That sucks... What's this about water? The alert wasn't over? *Inherent skill [Healthy] has reached 10. [Evolve] and [soul] will now upgrade it too inherent skills [Disease Resistance- 1] and [Physique Strengthen- 1] *
As the message fades I go back to the matter at had. It would seem that one of the rats that fled were responsible for the fire attack. I have to assume it was either the black rat or one of the white ones. The larger rats seemed to be more like fighters or body guards. Why did they come to attack me like that? Had I invaded there territory? At that moment I remember the roots that had come across the army originally that were buried beneath the ground. I moved my sight to them and stretch them out beginning to look around. As I search around in the direction I had originally seen the army I came across a massive cavern opening... It was a entire city... As I began to grow my roots around and research the entire cavern a sudden pain could be felt from behind as my roots that had come out of the ground behind me had begun to burn. I quickly began hiding the other roots in the walls and ground as I continued to invade the large cavern in a more stealthy manor. I watched as the group of rats rushed into the cavern at what seemed to be a impossible speed running towards the city in the distance. The cavern had to be at least hundreds of feet wide in all directions a whole field of mushrooms seemed to be being grown by the rats around the walls of a mud and rock walls of the city. The city was huge... Honestly. I was more impressed then threatened as I saw the thousands and thousands of rats that had gathered as the team of rats returned. They had a much larger army they didn't seem to take. I might have actually had a issue if they had brought this many with them back to my home. As I continued moving my roots into the cavern I begun to feel something weird. I quickly returned my presence to my main body. I had escaped the ground... My roots were being stretched to much and the growth was to much my main body had begun to inch slowly in the direction of the cavern...
With this I can move? The cavern should be more then enough to allow me to grow into a real tree. If only the inhabitants weren't so mean. I moved my presence back to the roots and continued to pull. It doesn't matter to much right now where my main body is it'll be a very long time before I can drag it all the way here. So I uprooted a few roots around my main body and carefully crafted a cocoon around it and left it as that while I continued to expand into the rats territory. While I invaded the territory I remembered the book and moved my attention to it and begun to quickly search for more info on these rats. I quickly found a picture of it. A giant pitch black rat. I started deciphering it as I stretched my roots out further in the cavern.
Before long I managed to figure out the identity of the one who threw the flames at me.

It common for it to have many rat queen's capable of healing it at it's side and using its superior numbers to push back any foe. While it's not the strongest it's species is extremely intelligent and they are very territorial. As a creature who wields magic it's considered extremely strong...
It's a good thing I stole this book. I know who my enemy is now.
